    Arbors and Patios
When we purchased our 30 year-old home we loved it but knew it had to be updated, in particular the bathrooms and the kitchen area (which included the laundry and the formal dining room). The house was very compartmentalized. It had a small, hidden kitchen that was not connected to anything except for the breakfast nook. Next to the kitchen on one side there was a laundry room and on the other side there was a formal dinning room, but all of these rooms were separate. We wanted to open the whole area up as much as possible, but as we quickly realized, the project presented real structural challenges (three different ceilings and elevations, dividing walls, etc). We knew that in addition to the design aspect we had to deal with the structural aspect of the project. In order to help us with this process, we hired an structural architect who provided us with several floor plans. All of her proposals opened the kitchen somewhat but left the laundry in its original location, which meant that we could not use the entire space for the kitchen and dining room. All of her proposals had supporting beams that would interfere with the line of sight. I was not getting what I wanted and was becoming increasingly disappointed. During this process I was also talking to Mirna and Luis from Arbors and Patios, who had built a beautiful outdoor kitchen and patio for us in our previous house. When discussing the possibilities for the project Luis and Mirna began to propose great ideas that could help us deal with the issues in this complex project. I ultimately trusted them because they had done great work for us in the past and because their ideas were the best we heard so far. Luis and Mirna proposed that the laundry was relocated, and that the different ceilings were elevated and made into a single, unified ceiling. The kitchen now is open, airy and amazing. The entire space is full of light and modern! By removing the bay window and adding the panoramic window we now have fantastic views of the outdoors, we love it! I feel that hiring Arbors and Patios was the best thing we could have done for our house. For us just as important as the quality of their construction work were the ideas and insights they provided which to made our house the most beautiful and functional space possible.

    North Dallas Renovations
We hired Kyle and his team to renovate our kitchen, install wood floor and tile throughout the downstairs, paint several rooms, and set up a media room with a projector and screen. Given our project we wanted a one-stop-shop and that's what we got. Every step of the process was clear and Kyle was in constant contact with updates, options, and timescales. The quote was fully transparent - no other firm who quoted us were clear with their pricing and some appeared to deliberately disguise the cost of things. The crew were all nice guys, very polite and would clean up at the end of each day. Would highly recommend for any home improvements, and we will be using them again in future too.

    Lawton Construction Co
Neal was fantastic to work with and I cannot say enough great things about him, his quality of work, and his fair prices! I would absolutely recommend him to anyone who is is looking for a quality, reasonable, and trustworthy contractor. Neal was very responsive to my initial request for a quote and was out at the house within a couple days to review the work in person. After a day he had a quote back to me which was very fair for the amount of labor we were asking for. Within a few days he was able to begin the work in which he had a crew work on every day until completion. The quality of his work was spot on as he matched the existing texture of the house exactly. The two new walls that he framed, hung drywall and re-textured looked like they were originally intended to be there. Above and beyond - Neal was more than willing spend time talking to my wife and I and give us renovation tips for many other projects we were tackling on our own. Neal also went above and beyond that when one day after a significant rainstorm, water appeared coming up from the carpet in our living room. He called me to let me know about it, and before I could make it back to the house, he had removed the carpet (which he knew we were replacing) and come up with a few potential solutions that I could do on my own to fix the problem. Amazing. Bottom line - I plan to use Neal again on any future projects/renovations and would highly recommend him to anybody.

    Platinum Painting and Gutters
They did a great job, very professional, good price, excellent workmanship, and they got it done ahead of schedule. With a brick home and cement board trim, I have an almost maintenance free exterior.

    Raindango Design and Remodeling

Let me say from the start of the project to the end Raindango was thoughtful about keeping the work areas clean and keeping the dust from overwhelming the house.  As we were living in the house during the renovation it had to be done in shifts and we were worried about all the dust and construction during what we knew would be a long period of time.  They covered everything and blocked off areas with sheets of plastic so the dust invasion was minimal.  It wasnt fun living through all the construction but they made it bearable.

Though we somewhat knew what we wanted we werent exactly sure of how to go about it.  Raindango brought in architectural and interior designers to help.  Both were wonderful.  I received 3 different rendering layouts of the kitchen, one of the upstairs bathroom (we werent changing the footprint just updating) and two of the master bathroom.  The interior designer was a jewel and helped with all the different color schemes, picking out the granite, flooring, tile, fixtures and paint colors so everything blended and looked wonderful.

The kitchen is large but was very closed off from the rest of the house.  We had a doorway leading into the living room and another leading into the dining room.   The configuration was also all wrong.  Raindango come in and fixed all that.  They opened up the walls leading into the living and dining rooms, moved my refrigerator from one wall to another more convenient area and added a wall of cabinets for extra storage.   They thought of little improvements I wouldnt have thought of, like light placements and adding extra cabinets over my washer and dryer.   Opening up the kitchen changed the look of the whole downstairs making is so open and friendly.

The fireplace was huge and dominated the living room.  When you walked into my home it was the first thing you noticed right in the middle of my living room wall.  The room now feels larger, more open and the new fireplace fits the room instead of dominating it.

The upstairs bathroom hadnt been touched since the house was built in 1985 and really need updating.  They gutted the room, reinsulated and installed new everything (bathtub, toilet, vanity, mirrored medicine cabinets, light fixtures, granite, tile and paint).  Before the renovation I was embarrassed when family came to visit now Im inviting them to visit.  Its such a beautiful room and they did a great job.

In the master bedroom they rewired our satellites cable burying it in the wall and repainted giving it a much needed facelift.  They also moved electrical outlets so we could mount our TV on the wall instead of having to have it on a stand.  Being able to remove the stand has opened up the room and given it an open airy feel.

As for the master bathroom, my oh my they did a wonderful job.  Our Master bathroom was long, narrow and dark.  They reconfigured a majority of the room by enlarging the linen closet, adding additional cabinets, enlarging the shower and incasing it with clear glass. Where before you didnt get the benefit of the windows at the back of the room now the light shows through the glass and brightens the whole area.   After everything is said and done the room feels wider, brighter and spa like.

There are always bumps along the way on any major project but if I had to do it all over again I would and I would use Raindango.  They are professional, courteous, friendly, kept me informed and asked questions instead of just assuming what we wanted done.  They are a great bunch of people and I would highly recommend them.

    Masterpiece Tile & Grout
The estimate was quoted on October 16th. I spent about a week afterwards making my decision on the contractor. I was given all the time I needed to make my selections of tile, granite & fixtures. The work commenced around Nov. 1st & was completed on Nov. 13th. The job was done quickly once I had my selections & professionally. I have since had other work done in my bathroom, painting, etc., but the work that I contracted with Mr. Bushner was completed mid-November. The countertop & tile floor are absolutely gorgeous. I am very happy with the work that Mr. Bushner did & his professional tile-setter Jose. The plumbing work was also top-notch. Overall, a very good experience.

    Contact Chipman Contracting
The house we bought was built in mid-80's; was a fixer with a lot of deferred maintenance and was in bad need of remodeling.
Dan's crew gutted all 3 and 1/2 bathrooms and the kitchen, then built from the studs out everything we had requested; including installing custom cabinets and all new appliances in the kitchen, custom cabinets and vanities in all the bathrooms, granite countertops, new sinks, tubs, toilets and fixtures in all the rooms.
Painted all the rooms, replaced almost all the light fixtures and ceiling fans.
They then tiled all the bathrooms, and installed hardwood flooring throughout the entirety of the 3000 sq ft house.
This was a mammoth job. Could not have gone better. Always on time, schedules (miraculously) all met even with us living in the house while they worked. You can not go wrong hiring them to do work in your house.
He works with an excellent cabinet maker, who designed the space exactly the way we needed it. They even subcontracted a roofer to do roof repair (that we hadn't expected needing).
They designed the kitchen layout, then came out after 2 weeks (so the cabinet had everything ready) demoed it all on one day, installed all the cabinets the next day, stained them over 2-3 days, installed the appliances, tiled over 3 days, and painted. A custom kitchen was finished in less than 2 weeks.
Only (marginally ) negative was that it would've been nice to have an exact schedule of what they were doing each day, but honestly even that's unrealistic with the scope of what they were doing in our house.
A word of caution for those reading reviews of them on here; you need to be realistic about what your budget can do. Some of the reviews unfairly criticize the company or their work, not realizing the product is only as good as your budget will allow. Dan Chipman is pretty good at getting what you need within your target price. He even mentioned to me that he'd rather do "10 kitchens for $30K, rather than one for $150K" (which I think is just good business sense). If you want walnut cabinets and marble counters, you have to say so and be willing to pay for it, not bash the contractor on Angies without doing the job because "his price is high".
I also would advise people, regardless of who you hire, to buy the materials yourself (tile, flooring, appliances, granite / quartz / marble counters, sinks, tubs, fixtures,..etc) rather than expect a contractor to know what you want. Dan also put us in contact with very good designers, and suppliers of all the materials so we could pick what we wanted, then did an excellent job of remodeling.

    Your Handyman
Terry and his team members communicated well about when the work would start and how long it would take.  They were prompt and professional. They were very well qualified and experienced - able to do everything I needed within the time & cost estimates that Terry gave me.  They were through and careful about cleaning up and meeting my expectations.  I would definitely have them return to handle other jobs.  It was a very good experience.

    Entry Door Co
Rick arrived on time for the estimate. He performed the work as stated. I had another handyman service out to complete the job, but they were not able to provide what I asked for-they kept talking about how difficult it is to install doors. Rick is a perfectionist and did a great job. He understood what I was asking for (no more gold or mirrors) and it looks wonderful.

    Contact Chipman Contracting
Our house was built in 1991, so it was time to make updates. I interviewed several companies and I am glad I selected Chipman Contracting.
Kitchen: new granite in entire kitchen, tile backsplash, remove wallpaper, paint, install new appliances, remove old ceiling fan, install new fan, sand/stain wooden window sills, new sink, garbage disposal, faucet.
Master Bathroom: demo to the studs. install new spa tub, individual shower with area for a foot rest for shaving legs, inset box for shampoos, frame less shower doors. Remove wallpaper and light fixtures, paint walls, paint doors, install new faucets for sinks, shower and tub, new light fixtures. New hardware for towels, toilet paper holder, etc.
Dan Chipman is the owner and project manager.  We liked the fact that Dan came by every day to check on the project, kept in touch with me by phone or text very well.  Most of the jobs were completed by his own employees, I saw the same people during the entire project. They were friendly and they wanted me to be pleased with their work. The workers laid down paper to protect my carpet and tile areas, they were respectful of my house.  Dan's price did not include an allowance for items for the house. I bought items on my own: appliances, tub, sinks, hardware, tile.  Dan didn't provide a designer but that was fine. When we had questions, he would tell us about his past projects and what other home owners put into their homes.
We bought on our own: tile, appliances, fan, faucets, sinks, tub, disposer, cabinet hardware, towel hardware, light fixtures. Since we bought many items on our own, we had a huge selection and variety of prices to choose. Looking at model homes and friend houses helped a lot.  His company was able to work with everything that we bought. I did buy my tile at a Dallas store and Dan picked up the tile.
Dan was flexible on his schedule since I wanted to be at home for the entire project. The frame less shower door was delayed due to issues but I also delayed the project by traveling out of town on a business trip. I didn't let the workers come into the house without me around.  Overall very pleased with the work that is completed, happy with the new look the house has.  Brings a smile to my face when I walk inot the kitchen and bathroom.
