    It���s with great appreciation that I recommend the work that Morningstar Restoration has done for our family. The Dickinson house had 29��� of water from Hurricane Harvey. Prior to getting with Morningstar, we were only able to get some initial remediation done by other sources, and it was not done very well. After Morningstar and Luis Aguilar, Project Manager, got involved professional work began! Our situation was quite complicated, to say the least (extensive damage, someone still living in the house unadvisedly, the persons responsible for coordinating the work living out of town, etc.), but Luis was extremely cooperative in communicating with us, scheduling meetings to accommodate out of town travel, and providing samples of materials from which we might choose. Morningstar did extensive mold remediation work that enabled us to get a passing independent mold inspection prior to beginning the actual restoration work. Mr. Aguilar���s method of detailing the scope of work was very extensive and specific, coordinating very precisely with the system used by the insurance company. The work was beautifully done! All the cabinetry was custom made; and the floor tile installation and painting were precisely done, as well as all the plumbing and appliance installation. He was always willing to accommodate the additional work we decided to include after we saw how well his own crews (not contracted crews) completed their work. The value of the work that was done was exceptional! We did have an estimate from another contractor and know that what we got from Morningstar was substantially more extensive and superior to what would have been obtained elsewhere. It was also very reassuring the way payments were made. There was never any concern that Morningstar was going to run off with a huge prepaid amount. Fairly early on, we paid $5,000 to cover the ordering of the floor tile that would be used. After certain amounts of work were done, Mr. Aguilar would notify us that we needed to cover that work (usually a $10,000 payment). Then at project completion, the final balance was paid. Our dealings with Mrs. Mercedes Aguilar in the office were also very good. Anyone should feel confident of the work done by Morningstar Restoration and Luis Aguilar! This is an honest, competent, and skilled company that can manage an extensive project that has numerous associated difficulties. We are very pleased and thankful!

    My situation began with a leak in my roof that caused interior damage to my wall, ceiling and flooring. Was referred to Texas Engineered Roofing by someone whose opinion i trust highly who was a previous customer. Initially it started out a bit shaky with the initial consultant that was sent out acting disinterested and not thorough in their evaluation. I immediately called the company to explain my dissatisfaction with the consultant and requested someone new. They were very apologetic and assigned a new consultant, Scott, who contacted me immediately and has been excellent to work with from initial contact. He promptly responds to calls and thoroughly answers questions and has been very helpful while navigating my claim while dealing with my insurance company. Scott has been flexible and accommodating with my work schedule to have the evaluations, meetings, paperwork and repairs done in a timely manner. Customer satisfaction, transparency and honesty are a high priority with Scott and this company.

    Right Choice Restoration
    They showed up right away for remediation and did the tear out and removal of damaged drywall etc. right away. Even though they did not bother to cover carpeting before dropping ceiling drywall and insulation I was satisfied with this work. It was a week before someone returned to remove the fans they put up for drying, and was told they would start the restoration. Two days later, 2 men showed up to do drywall but had no insulation with them so they went to Home Depot to get some...came back with insulation but no staple gun or staples to install it. After about an hour they left, we assumed to get the proper materials needed. When no one showed up after several more days we got excuses from the office, and they kept asking for the insurance check. When the check arrived, the money was given to them in the hope that this would speed things up. After 3 weeks of nothing, and phone calls and emails unanswered finally Adam (the owner?) came out in person to see the project. He apologized over and over for the failure of his company, saying that he was out of the country and had no idea what was going on. He agreed with me that the work should have been completely done by now and agreed to return the insurance money for repairs as I told him I had already found someone else that would complete the job. His company was paid for the remediation directly by my insurance company. It has been over 3 weeks now since that conversation and no money has been returned. My phone calls and emails are being ignored. I feel it is a sad day when a company needs to steal (in my opinion) $3100 for work that was never done.

    J&D responded quickly by text and phone to schedule an inspection for cost and work requirements. It was agreed to for the Sheetrock to be removed, insulation to be removed, carpet with padding to be removed, all trash hauled and disposed of, two mold killing treatments, a damage report, and a repair estimate to support my insurance claim. J&D completed the Sheetrock and flooring removal with all the material stacked in front of my home. The first mold treatment was done per the business owner, Mr. Don Wilkerson. From this point Wilkerson was onto other work. I called and text messaged Wilkerson several several times asking for the trash to be removed from my yard, asking when will the second mold treatment be done and where is my insurance report and repair estimates. The trash was finally hauled away, the second mold treatment was done and I got my insurance damage report. Never received a estimate to repair the damage. J&D Total Home Care and the Owner Don Wilkerson, never arrived on time at any appointment, even had a few to many no show days, even after agreed too plans confirmed the night before. Wilkerson has a real problem making his commitments and handling follow up work appointsments. To me this is a very unprofessional manner and no way to operate a business. I strongly recommend you seek a more professional contractor!

    They showed up in the alloted window of time given. They did call before hand to let me know they were on their way. They were very polite and Trevor was very professional. After inspecting the AC unit they brought in the equipment got set up to do the service. Part of the deal I got was one free sevice with duct cleaning and I choose to have my carpets cleaned. They decided to start with that instead of cleaning my duct system and here is why. It was a bait and switch. They gained access through offering me a low priced service so they could upsale. They anchor themselves by preforming the " free" service. While the other person is busy the other informs you have mold and they can not do a regular duct cleaning because it would just release the spores into the system but for $400 they could remove the mold. I called my husband who never answered which turns out to be good because I sent them on their way. After some investigating this is what I learned. First off this company does not even have the proper equipment to properly clean an air duct system. It was not big enough because they brought inside. Unless they had another outside in the van like they needed but since they used the one machine to clean my carpets and switched out the attachments waiting for meto say yes to $400 I don't think so. Also a proper cleaning should take 2 hours not the 45 minutes or so they said it would take. Other places I called after they left said that $400 to $800 is alot to charge for a cleaning. All systems have some mold. Proper maintenance is key. So my advice is BUYER BEWARE!

    Spoke with the owner to set my appointment on the Thursday before the Tuesday appointment.  On Monday I learned that he canceled my appointment because I did not return his confirmation call immediately (I returned it three hours later).  This surprised me since we just set the appointment a few days earlier (at minimum it is a strange business practice).
    We set the appointment for later in the the same evening - 5 PM.  90 minutes after the appointment time we had not heard from them.  Not even a courtesy call.  We called the next best Angie's list member with high rankings and found they offer a similar service for about 40% less.
    I am giving them a C because I am assuming this was a rare scheduling issue as their other reviews are great.

    The team was a few minutes late, but they called to inform me they were on the way.  They had encouraged me to be present for the whole inspection process, so I followed Fernando and Elyssa around while Wendy typed furiously on the computer.  This was my first home inspection, but in speaking to friends and family about the process, they indicated the PHI team was much more thorough than the average inspector. 

    Inspection went well and was done with streamlined efficiency.  I am still amazed that they were able to inspect the entire property, top to bottom, in two hours.  At the end of the inspection, I sat down with the team as Wendy went through the hefty report, item by item.  It was very educational, and I left the inspection confident that I understood what my husband and I were getting into with the home in question.  Thankfully, the mold assessment came back well within normal limits, so I cannot speak to PHI's mold remediation abilities.

    Home buying is stressful, and tensions are high--especially during the inspection process.  The PHI team was knowlegdeable and professional, as one would expect, but what I appreciated most was their attitude.  They are doing something they enjoy, and it shows.  Their upbeat attitude made the inspection process much easier...and actually somewhat enjoyable.

    As far as the cost of inspection goes, I am a firm believer that you get what you pay for.   PHI offers a premium technical and service experience, and it is well worth the money.  I highly recommend them.
