Lawn Care reviews in Big Spring

On Friday, March 27, I called James Alexander with Moonridge Landscaping and asked him how much he would charge to mow the lawn.  He said that he would have to come by to give me an estimate.  I asked him if he could come Sunday instead of Saturday, and he agreed to come by after church in the morning.  I waited all afternoon and called him at 5:30 and asked him when he was coming by.  He sounded like he had been asleep and said, oh, I went by earlier, and it will be 45.oo to mow your lawn.  He said he could come the following day to work on the lawn.  The following day being Monday, March 30.  I told him I had an appointment, and asked if he could come right after 4:00 pm.  He agreed.

Monday, March 30, he didn't come and he didn't call.  I called his number and he didn't answer.  I had to keep calling him, and didn't reach him until about 5:30 or 6:00 pm.  He finally answered his phone and said that he had to take his son to ball practice at 7:00 pm and would come right after that.  He didn't show until 7:36.  I asked him what happened to the 4:00 appointment he agreed on, and he said that he was doing some ----t and forgot about it.  I took him around the yard and showed him what I wanted, and he seemed disposed to chat about things, and I kept saying that I would let him go so he could get the mowing done.  He said it was too late to do it, and that he would do it first thing in the morning.  I told him that my mom had an appointment Tuesday, and that Thursday would be better for me.  He agreed to Thursday, and said that he would be there at 9:00 am sharp.  By the way, when he showed up, he had the mower, and I assume it was in working condition because he brought it.

On Wednesday evening, I called to tell him not to forget to collect the branches that he had not picked up the last time he mowed for us, and said he would collect the branches.  He said he would get them, and again said he would be there at 9:00 am.

At 9:00 am Thursday, April 2, James was a no-show, and there was no phone call.  I waited until 9:15 or 9:30, just to give him some leeway, and then called him.  No answer.  He finally answered his phone at 9:45, sounded like I woke him up, and said that he was repairing the lawn mower, which wasn't working, and said he would be there in 15 minutes.  He didn't arrive at 10:00, and didn't call, and didn't answer his phone until about 10:15.  At that time, he said he was repairing a flat and would be at my house shortly.  He didn't show until 10:38 am.  His help was giving me attitude because I told James that I had other things that I needed to do, and didn't want to string this out all week.

My point is that all it takes is a phone call.  That was the third  time he had stood me up, and didn't call.  So it wasted my time, and I couldn't go on to other things.  So that was the previous Sunday afternoon that was wasted, the following Monday afternoon and evening, and the Thursday morning where he was a no show and I had no call.  Very unprofessional behavior.  And lying about having to fix his flat and lawn mower, I felt were prevarications.  When he finally got there, he said that when he tried to hurry, things went wrong for him.

In the afternoon, before all the work was finished,  went into the front yard, and he was working in the neighbors yard.  When I said something about it, he looked up at me, and continued what he was doing in the neighbor's yard.  When he finally came back into my yard, he said, well, were almost finished here.  He apparently didn't appreciate my confronting him about his unprofessional behavior, and passed his attitude on to his two aides.   They were supposed to collect the branches left there in the yard and the back alley from his previous engagement, finish cleaning out the front curb or gutter, and finish with the back garden.  They didn't do that, when I asked one of his workers to do part of the curb that they had neglected, the worker ignored me, and they left to "go work on another assignment".  James was supposed to edge the lawn, and he didn't finish the job, and did a poor job on what he did do. Also, when his workers sped away, they took my rake with them by mistake.

He came back the next day, Friday April 3, to change sprinkler heads and work on the sprinkler system.   I had to call him the night before to tell him to redo and complete the edging, to pick up the branches, and to complete cleaning out the curbs.  He was overpaid 125.00 the day before, April 2 to do all this work.  I wanted to have it completed that day, so I could go on to other things.  But it was not to be.

He did not complete his work in my yard before moving on to someone else.  I certainly do not mind whoever else he works for, as long as he is finished with my contract before he starts someone else.  And as long as he does a good job.

He didn't finish the work he said he would do on the following morning.  He didn't start until about noon.  He was paid 75.00 on Friday, April 3 to change sprinkler heads and make the sprinklers go off at 8:00 pm on Sundays and Thursdays.  They didn't go off that Sunday, April 5th.  We called him Thursday, April 9 and told him that the sprinklers were not working, and he said that he would not be able to come until late Saturday, April 11.  I told him to remember to bring my rake.  He was a no-show again, and never called.

He has not called, and has not shown up to correct his work.  I found Mr. Alexander to be unprofessional in his work and in his communication and in his unreliability, and in his attitude.  I think we remunerated him abundantly for his efforts, and  was more than patient with him until I just finally got fed up with his lackadaisical and unprofessional performance.

This is truly not about the rake.  We paid him $200.00 for what he did poorly, over too many days, and with disrespectful attitude.    Since the sprinkler system is not working, I would like for him to return a certain amount that we paid him.  I don't want him on our property again.
