House Painting reviews in Bellaire

This was my 3rd time using Houston Custom Remodeling and once again, we are extremely happy with the work. We purchased this property as a rental and boy did it need updating. I contacted Cole and requested a bid. We needed major updates in the kitchen and four and a half bathrooms. We were thinking about making one of the bedrooms bigger, but Cole advised us that it was not a very good idea due to a structural issue. Remodeling started 2 weeks after we signed the contract. As always, this guys showed up exactly when Cole said they were and were very polite. My wife and I are still amazed at the speed they work. The demolition crew was able to remove all the old material in a matter of days. Cole planned and executed this project masterfully. While one crew was working on the kitchen, another crew was working on the bathrooms. Yes, it did get messy at times, but that was expected. After 5-6 weeks of daily work, everything was finished and again, we could not be happier with the results. Everything was in-budget and there were no surprises. My wife and I highly recommend Houston Custom Remodeling.

My house was in rough shape, it is an older bungalow home in Bellaire. It needed some attention. Justin Treaster came out and give me a quote and he was able to get me on the schedule right away. They were able to get the mold and mildew off, replace any rotting wood and repaint the house white and trim green. She shines bright now. Justin and his crew did a great job!

Ron came to my home, looked at all the windows, and explained exactly what needed to be done. Each lentil would need to be sanded, primed, and painted. In addition, seams, joints, cracks, etc, needed to be caulked. Ron was very professional and thorough, and I received a detailed proposal within a day. Actual work was done by Juan, who is absolutely fantastic! I had no idea that painting the lintels could make such a difference. WOW .. what a difference it made to the way our home looked!

This job was performed quickly, effectively, and with the highest quality. Monolite Stucco Systems is a turn key stucco company, handling demo, window removal and replacement with sealing, framing repairs if required, substrate and water barrier, stucco with 3 step application, and painting including interior finish work. The Manager checked in every day during the job, and came to the job site multiple times to ensure that I was happy and satisfied with the workers and the results. Monolite is a professional organization with great workers, and top quality workmanship.

We had a very good experience with Burr Metro Construction and would hire them again. Our job was originally estimated in April 2017 but we were not ready to start until October 2017. After some perhaps understandable delays in re-establishing contact after Harvey, a start date within a few days was offered to us. The project began on the scheduled date and time and after that point there were workers on site every day but Sunday until the project was finished. Our site was maintained in a neat condition, with all tools and materials stored in our back yard at the end of each day. The quality of the work was excellent and our house now looks great. Most of the cost for the project was for the stucco and that cost was very close to the other bids I received, (in one case, within 4%) . I did not competitively bid the painting of the trim that part of the cost seemed reasonable. I chose Burr Metro because they seemed to immediately grasp the root cause of the leaks (failing sealants around the banding rather than sealants around the windows themselves) and because they were ready to do the trim work as well as the stucco.

It went smoothly. No hassles at all! Charles has a great team working with him. Everyone was punctual, respectful and nice to work with. The crew who built the deck structure was amazing! Congratulations and a big thank you to all of them.

The work was done on December 9, 2016. I later noticed that the metal flashing - already paid for - had not been installed. I emailed on April 17 and got an apologetic response from the office staff, with a promise to address it. I texted on May 18th, reminding them it still wasn't done. He said he would look into it "after the weekend", i.e. May 22. It is now May 25 and it is still not installed. The other work that was completed was done well and in a timely manner, but this omission and failure to make good for something already paid for, after two reminders, is unacceptable.

This was a very long, frustrating experience. Some of the biggest problems included: 1) failed one of the inspections and lied about why. Joe stated, "We had a few things the inspector didn't pass us on today...They are not anything major or we did anything wrong just the inspector is looking for more details on 2 things." I'd long lost trust in Joe, so I called the inspector myself and I reported back to Joe, "I just got off the phone with the inspector who failed the inspection...He stated the drawings submitted to the COB were approved for the construction, but the addition is NOT BEING BUILT ACCORDING TO THE DRAWINGS." 2) Prior to this Joe repeatedly assured me that we would be able to approve the drawings he submitted to the COB for permitting, but he did not. He submitted them and because some of the specifications were inferior quality to those in the contract I demanded that he retract the permit application until the drawings were in line with the contract. 3) Numerous parts of this job had to be redone along the way because it was done sloppily or incorrectly the first time. This included the roof framing, redoing the other parts of the framing that were failed in the inspection, concrete pad leaving a pillar hanging off (and Joe contending this was intentional so they could pass inspection), repeatedly having to remind Joe to include an electrical outlet above the fireplace and the electricians having to repeatedly come back to plumb for this each part of the way, and more. 4) Joe repeatedly promised, verbally and via email, this job would take 3-4 weeks. From the time we agreed to do the job with him until it broke ground it took 3.5 months, and then an additional 3 months after ground was broken--and that is with me telling him we would find someone else to do the floor tile. (He began LOOKING for our floor tile a month after ground broke, stated he was still looking a month later, and then proposed using a different tile for an additional $2300). We gave ZERO change orders along the way, and there were very few rainy days. There were multiple weeks were a worker was only here 6 HOURS PER WEEK. Joe was very rarely on the job site, which is probably why workers were hardly here or didn't come when they told him they were, and why so many parts were sloppily done. 5) This contract was $8,000 more than the next lower bid and $10,000 above our 3rd bid. For this premium price I expected a relatively smooth, efficient process. Rather, I had to give not only repeated, but constant, reminders about errors and timelines along the way. He couldn't even get the very basic patio dimension correct--we're talking the 13' x 10' addition. I pointed this out in a couple of emails and he brushed me off stating it would be correct to his "architect" (there's a reason that is in quotes). His architect asked me why I created a drawing showing it was extending by 10' and not the 15' (as Joe had told him). I had to call them to my house to get them on the same page about the most basic dimension. 6) I could go on and on and on.

It went very well. Augustine is a great carpenter and Cole had a wonderful crew of guys working for us. We dealt with Arcadio and Enrique a lot as foreman and both of those guys knew their stuff! We went with very traditional Shaker style cabinets, upgraded lighting throughout, installed marble-looking quartz(which I LOVE!!) The guys finished on time, any changes in cost were clearly expressed to us. Cole includes on his initial bid what his profit margin is and I was so impressed, nobody else did that and we really felt comfortable with how transparent the job was.

The Mark Danis team recently repainted the exterior of our home in Summerland, which is a shingle-sided dwelling.  We were anxious about selecting a painter as this is a large and expensive project that needed not only the right product, but the care and expertise necessary for a long term positive outcome.  I was initially impressed with Mark?s knowledge of the kind of paints versus stains and the reasons he suggested the product we chose due to the exposure to the frequent marine layer and it?s possible mold implications.  Mark?s team was amazing.  They were friendly, courteous, energetic and thorough.  We needed a carpenter to repair a section of railing and that was handled. They sanded and taped EVERYTHING!  The prep work was extensive and they moved through it so quickly.  The windows and surrounding areas do not have drips or spills anywhere.  They cleaned up every day and left the property tidy.  The project included the 2 story house, lots of railings, a gazebo and a spa area.  There were 4 colors of stains and paints used.  They consulted us on every point and repainted the garage door to our satisfaction.  I highly recommend Mark and his team.  We will hope that when we need to paint again, that Mark is available.
