Appliance Repair reviews in Bellaire

We called and a lady answered. We were told that service might be done on that day. Several hours later, the technician called us. He came about one hour later and started checking the appliances. The microwave, which suddenly stopped working, needed a new fuse. Within 20 minutes after the technician's arrival, it started working again, He next checked the dryer, which kept rotating when the door was open. He told us it needed a door switch replaced and gave us a quote. We agreed and it was repaired quickly. He gave us one year warranty for the switch, All together, we paid $247.81 (after $10 off coupon from Angie's list). The cost was reasonable, the service was quick; further, the technician was courteous. We are happy with John James Appliance Service and would use it again in the future.

Called them and explained the problem to the lady answering the phone. I told her the oven turned off multiple times at different temperatures and each time I'd go out to the breaker box and have to flip the switch to the oven back to "on" and then it'd work again for a few random minutes before turning off again. I told her this process kept happening over and over. She was very friendly and tried her best to get us on the schedule quickly. I think she tried too hard, and on the first day they weren't able to get to us at the time they said they would aim for, but that was completely ok. The next day, the tech came out and as soon as my wife explained the problem to him, in less than a minute he said it doesn't sound like the oven it sounds like the breaker. He said we needed to call an electrician to fix the problem. But I guess since he was already there, he spent 15 minutes turning on the oven and verifying it did indeed turn off multiple times, and that when you flipped the breaker back "on" it worked fine again until some other random point. He then proceeded to charge us the $85 visit fee, which in the company's defense, we were told about. However, when my wife pointed out to him that in talking to him for less than a minute he knew it wasn't an appliance issue, he continued to argue that he provided an inspection and verified it was not an issue with the appliance. He proceeded to argue with my wife for almost 10 minutes, about as long as he inspected the oven. I told her to just pay him, although we were deeply disappointed in their service and procedures. I have had multiple contractors and service providers from Angie's List come over, and several times the same kind of situation has happened where right away they know they cannot fix the problem, and NOT ONCE have they wasted our time and our money like John James appliance did. This whole situation could have been avoided if the original phone call was transferred to a tech or if she asked a tech if it sounded like an appliance issue. I know many times it is difficult to diagnose things over the phone, but in talking with the tech he realized the problem pretty quickly. The end of the story? Our trusted electrician came over, showed us where the breaker wire was loose, and replaced the breaker part for $65 TOTAL.

Hired company to repair stove. Replaced parts. Parts stopped working and when I called they said they did not need to come out to see it as it would go away when it dried out. Called again and they said they only guarantee their work for three months and that it was past the three month period. Also said they no longer service appliance and I should look elsewhere.

Couldn't be happier with the service; prices and responsiveness. As a matter of fact, after having trouble with a 1 year old system in a newly built home that we moved to, we asked Calvico to troubleshoot and fix the problem instead of the company the builder said would do the work under warranty. We just trusted Calvico more and they did not disappoint.

I hired Uptown Appliance Repair to repair my freestanding ice machine. I had never used them before. They were very professional, prompt, honest and reasonably priced. The tech came out and diagnosed the problem which was a $900 repair! The primary cost was the expensive part and refrigerant. Uptown told me that even though the appliance was out of warranty, I should call KitchenAid and ask that they provide the part for free. Uptown explained that the evaporator unit should not go out after only 3 years. KitchenAid did agree to provide the part, but wanted me to use their recommended repair company. KitchenAid said that the quote I received from Uptown to install the part was unreasonably high and that the service call fee was too high. I agreed to have KitchenAid's repair company come out, but when they did, their service call charge and their labor fee were significantly higher than Uptown. Uptown's labor fee would be about $250 cheaper. I sent them home and called KitchenAid back. KitchenAid apologized for their inaccurate information and agreed to mail me the part so I could have Uptown come back and install it. Thanks to Uptown's suggestion to call KitchenAid, I saved $350 on the part and $250 on the labor. I will use Uptown from now on for all my appliance repair needs.

He and his wife took the dryer apart and found a thick coating of lint over all the inside parts, some of which were burnt. He cleaned it all out, blew out the inner and outer vent hoses , and even tracked down the part number to replace the loose dryer screen. Took about an hour, and they cleaned up the dryer fuzz afterward. Thanks again, Andy!

Andy was knowledgeable, honest and very helpful. Besides accurately diagnosing the problem with the mini fridge and wine cooler and repairing them, he ordered the gasket and installed it quickly and efficiently. He even went out of his way to help me locate the proper fridge light bulb and replacement parts from the proper vendors. In addition, the day of the call we smelt gas in the laundry room and he troubled the source and diagnosed the problem the same visit, saving us calling someone in emergently . I will use him exclusively from now on!

It went very well. Augustine is a great carpenter and Cole had a wonderful crew of guys working for us. We dealt with Arcadio and Enrique a lot as foreman and both of those guys knew their stuff! We went with very traditional Shaker style cabinets, upgraded lighting throughout, installed marble-looking quartz(which I LOVE!!) The guys finished on time, any changes in cost were clearly expressed to us. Cole includes on his initial bid what his profit margin is and I was so impressed, nobody else did that and we really felt comfortable with how transparent the job was.

Called home warranty company for our broken washer and they sent SEAR home services out 5 days later on May 26th.  They arrived AFTER the appointment window by 1.5 hours.  The two technicians troubleshooted the problem for 90 minutes after having me sign form that they might damage my house in the process.  The technicians had to call a help line and eventually decided I needed a new motor and two brush sets.  They then said it would take two weeks to get parts to they scheduled a follow up on June 9th, 2016 for 1-5pm.  Then on first of June (week) early, the parts were delivered.  Upon examination the motor came with the brushes installed and they technicians had ordered two extra sets of brushes on top of the ones included (and installed) already in the motor. Called Sears and asked if they could come early, no go.
So on the 8th, they called to confirm the parts were there and re-confirmed the part installation visit for the 9th from 1-5pm.
On the 9th, at 3pm, we called Sears and they said technicians would arrive before 5pm.  We called at 4:30 and they said the technician was on the way and would be there in 15 min. At 4:45 and no technician, we called again and were told the technician would be there by 6pm. We called again at 5:45 and were told that the technician said the parts were back-ordered and was going home. We said that was not correct as the parts were already at our house.  They argued with us for a while, but stopped when we offered to send them a picture of the parts in front our house.  Then they said, we rescheduled the appointment. We said NO again, we did not, we wanted a technician that day. They then offered to have a technician come 'sometime' tomorrow.  We asked if they would come @ 7am first visit. They said no.
At that point, we just installed the parts ourselves and the washer is now working.  We then cancelled the followup appointment for June 10th.
On June 10th, they called and said they wanted their parts back.  Rather ironic as we already paid them the service fee ($75 which mysteriously included TAX of $6) and the warranty company paid for the parts.
We continue to argue with them.

Bobby and his team were complete professionals.    They called when they were on the way, diagnosed the problem, ordered the necessary parts and rescheduled to come back to make the repair.   Again, they called when they were on the way and tried to make the repairs.   The part to be removed would not budge and Bobby asked if they could take the machine back to their warehouse so they would not take any more of my time.   The next day, they brought the repaired machine back and reinstalled.   The machine was thoroughly cleaned before reinstallation.

I will be using Uptown Appliance for all my appliance repair needs.
