Landscaping reviews in Argyle

Real People ~ Real Reviews ~ Real Results

  • I relocated to Flower Mound, Texas in 1999. We had a home built and later decided to add a patio. I learned a lot about what not to do and what to look for after we completed it. The patio was beautiful but had some issues. I later moved to Sachse to an older home and again had a patio built. This was a much better experience as I learned what to look for in a patio builder (don’t use Frank’s brother buzz in a pickup truck that “also does patios”). This time I used a professional patio builder with a real business address and I ended up with a beautifully built patio. I moved to Argyle in 2017 and guess what? We decided to build a patio. We contacted the Sachse builder but they could not travel this far west. ****. I ended up contacting 5 different patio builders. I met with all of them and got quotes. After a lot of analysis and second guessing, we made our choice. I won’t mention the name of the business, but they were located in Argyle. They had a beautiful facility and I was sure they could build a beautiful patio for us. It took a month on emails, texts, and phone calls to finalize the quote. The conversations became very stressful. Everything was complicated. Even the easy stuff. The simplest questions involved someone else calling me back another day. I knew it would be worse once the work started so I decided to go in another direction. I probably lost 2 months with them. I decided against using one of the other 4 quotes. Several of the homes in our neighborhood used Texas Best Fence & Patio. They recommended I call the owner, Colby Coward. I went online and did my research. Nothing but positive reviews and they had some amazing pictures of their work. I called Colby. He came by our home and I explained we wanted a 27’ x 14’ “Hipped” cedar patio with concrete slab, 3 pillars, and 3 ceiling fans. All tied into my current roof and matched perfectly. Did I mention I am OCD? Colby wrote up a quote on the spot, right there. The man with all the answers just gave me a final quote! It was right in the pricing sweet spot and included everything we wanted. We accepted it and construction started soon after. The best part of this project was working with Colby and all the employees at Texas Best Fence & Patio. Many companies will tell you they focus on customer service, but this company really does. What a contrast to the other company who almost built our patio. When you build a patio like this, unforeseen things come up on both sides. Resolving them was ALWAYS VERY simple. Colby would always say “well, what do you want”? I would tell him and that’s what was done. Not once was there a mention of “that would cost extra” or “we need to do something else”, even though I know some changes we made cost more. When the county inspectors came to approve the work, they always mentioned how well the work was done and in most cases exceeded requirements. For example, the footings for our 3 massive columns were dug twice as wide as required. In Texas that’s **** important. The patio was completed on time, exactly on budget and I cannot describe the high quality patio we got without you seeing it. True craftsmanship. We are so happy with our patio. EVERYONE tells us how beautiful it is. Even other contractors who visit us mention it. I cannot recommend Texas Best Fence & Patio enough. If you are looking for a high quality patio, built on time, to budget, and want to look back at building it as a fun experience, these are your people to build your patio. A picture is worth 1,000 words as they say. This is our patio. They did all the work. [*** Link removed ***] 5 out of 5 stars. Ken and Laurie Hudson Argyle Texas.

  • It took 2 days for some one to contact me from the company, I set up an appointment on a Friday for the following Monday and no one showed up on the scheduled date. I contacted CNM Plumbing and they re-scheduled for the following day in the afternoon. The technician Mario showed up, told my wife it would cost $800 plus to have 10 minutes worth of work done. Mario was not very knowledgeable about sprinkler systems based on his comments, he told my wife we night have to have a rock bed installed in addition to the repairs. My wife new at that point this technician had no clue what they were talking about, since this was an existing sprinkler system that was installed when we built our house in the canyon falls community 3 years ago. The reason for the repair was to replace the broken back flow device that was damaged by our land scalping company. After my wife told the technician we would not be doing the repairs, we were charged a consultation fee of $49.00 for coming to our house. We contacted another plumbing company who pulled the permit and did the work for $250 and we were not charged a consultation fee. I was extremely disappointed in Angies List and will not use again after finding out the caliber of companies they allow to list on the site.

  • Without a doubt, Texas Turfscapes is one of the most outstanding companies I have ever done business with. There just aren't words to accurately describe just how incredible this company is. From receiving an estimate to completion of the job, every detail was perfect. Five men worked so hard from 9:30am to 6pm only taking a break for lunch. Adian, one of the owners, was on the job site for 3/4 of the time overseeing everything but, honestly, the men did such an outstanding job that he had very little to correct. The men worked harmoniously together and worked w/o stopping, except for lunch, until the job was completed and everything was cleaned up and I mean 'cleaned up'. The grass looks beautiful and I would encourage anyone thinking of artificial grass 'go for it' and with Texas Turfscapes. It is expensive but absolutely beautiful and worry free. Believe me, there are many steps to installing artificial grass that is very time consuming so the work that goes into installing it makes the cost understandable. Bottom line: I would recommend artificial grass and absolutely Texas Turfscapes. You will not be disappointed with the finished product or working with Adian and Kasey Hallman, the owners. A++++++++

  • I truly believe the original problem was that Justin encouraged us to install our system before the beds were in or designed. I questioned him but he assured me I had a 3 yr warranty and coverage guarantee and it would be no problem to modify. There were 2 instances where a tractor doing grading damaged a pipe in the first year that caused the owner to call and rudely accuse me of all of the needed repairs over our warranty. He said pretty much everything out of my mouth was a lie and that he doesn't have to do this often but he is pulling our warranty. I have never received such rude treatment. He called and said he didnt even need to hear anything I said and his employees who acttually treated me decently was the only truth. There were several instances where valves failed and would not turn off. The main line became disconnected twice. Rubin told us it was not glued properly when we asked why it broke twice. Wiring failed. We are on a difficult lot that is rocky but as the owner accused we did not repeatedly rent tractors and drive through our now established landscape and break everything. They also cut right near the trunk of our 200 yr old post oaks after that was the main thing we discussed. The young guy did not speak English and refused to listen or stop.

  • I hired Woody's to trim some shrubs and a tree for $750, and hired their parent company (Martin and Sons roofing) to replace my roof for about $7,000 - I did them a solid and they did do a good job. Ever since then my contact has told me he would stop by a handful of times and never shows up or calls. I guess they got what they wanted, the big money project, and the other stuff isn't worth their time. But there is no paper trail about the free tree, or anything else they promised me, because then "they'd have to charge me." Jokes on me I guess

  • It went pretty well, they came out and worked with my mom. They fixed the pipe and then went over all the sprinkers and replaced a couple that needed to be replaced. They optimized the direction for all of them and set up the schedule. Guaranteed their work for 2 years. We've had to call them back a couple of times to work on the schedule, I suspect our controller may be having some issues. Overall, very nice and good with their work.

  • After we purchased a 10-year old residential estate on 3.3 acres, Stenson Landscaping was hired in January 2016 to solve the sever drainage issues, upgrade/repair the irrigation system and renovate almost the entire landscape. After considering incomplete advice and proposals from a professional civil engineer and several landscapers who claimed to be drainage experts, James Doyle, co-partner of Stenson Landscaping, was hired to design and install a drainage system to eliminate standing water around the residence. The effective drainage system encompasses a network of approximately 750 linear feet of French drains emptying into two high-performance sump pumps. Afterwards, standing water from rain and irrigation runoff, which was killing plants and trees, was totally eliminated. The residential irrigation controller was replaced by a smart commercial controller with a flow meter to control 26 zones. James, an expert in commercial irrigation solutions, supervised his crew in repairing zone valves and heads. In addition, he prepared a zone chart and zone map of the system. When sensing low-flow alarms caused by blockages and high-flow alarms caused by broken heads, the smart controller dispatches alarms via email to both the property owner and James. The controller can be controlled locally or remotely from a smart phone or computer. Accessible historical data is also continuously recorded. Existing and new beds were essentially planted with new perennials and evergreen plants. Approximately 50 red cedar trees were planted around the perimeter of the property for a screen. Other trees and large shrubs planted were live oak, redbud, crepe myrtle, Japanese maple and holly. Furthermore, Stenson Landscaping install a beautiful stone paving walk and garden patio, driveway stone borders and plant bed stone borders. In addition, they installed bases for statuary and installed plants and drip systems into pottery. After more than one year, James has proactively replaced dead plants and trees without hesitation under warranty. In addition, Stenson Landscaping professionally maintains the entire property under an annual contract to mow, trim, fertilize, weed and insect spraying, etc.

  • I’ve had this company come out several times over the past year. Each time the experience is excellent, from the friendly and knowledgeable staff to the quality of the work performed. They recommended I replace the can lights in my living room with LED’s since I have vaulted ceilings and they are a pain to change out. We did and they look awesome! Will be using them again.

  • I was very happy with the services and workmanship. Anything g I mentioned I would like different was accommodated. This space has revolutionized our nearly daily cooking and eating habits...and it is VERY beautiful.

  • I can't say enough good things about Bobby Manzanares and his team at Pro-Pier Foundation Repair & Drainage. I had what turned out to be springs coming from the Greenbelt behind my home that were literally destroying my pool and threatening my foundation. My pool builder and landscaping company tried and failed to address the situation because they could not adequately diagnose it. Bobby immediately saw the problem and proposed and innovative and cost-effective solution in the form of a u-shaped French drain up to 13 feet deep around my property. Now as my neighbors and our developers struggle to deal with the challenges presented by this situation, my home and pool are safely protected. In addition the Pro-pier team was fast and complete. They did all of the drugging work by hand and moved a massive amount of dirt, completing the project in about a week counting rain delays with a crew exceeding ten hard-working men. Each day they cleaned up their mess and even though it was not part of the contract they restored the landscape areas around my pool to previous form without charge Bobby is a True pro who hates drainage issues and will take resolving them personally. Hire him
