    Custom Paving
I messaged this company twice through Angieslist for a one-week period with no response. This was a project for approx. 600 feet of 12' driveway so should have been of some interest to a company evidently in the business to make money.

    Allied Outdoor Solutions
I have had Allied Outdoor out to do Carvestone twice because they are that good. Drew was great in showing options and making suggestions, and then makes sure you are taken care of through the process. The installers were very professional and cleaned up after their work and made sure they left the area better than they arrived. The Carvestone work itself is actually great, and gave our pool desk a completely different look and feel compared to our old pea gravel. If I was to give any negativity is that the carvestone needs to be sealed to protect the work, and is slightly expensive. I wish that Allied would recommend a cheaper alternative to the sealant that they use, but its not that big of a deal. I mean if you spend the money to enhance your decking then why not spend the money to protect it.

    Jones Concrete and Construction
I would highly recommend Mr. Jones. He is punctual and a hard worker. He has a very professional attitude and great work ethics. He will do whatever it takes to get the job done. I would definitely hire Mr. Jones again.

    Ace Door Service
It went excellent. They were quick, affordable, and gave great service. I would highly recommend them for anyone needing garage door work in the Alvin area. I have previously used one of their competitors and my experience was significantly worse.

    A-Reliable Foundation Repair
It went terrible!!! I got Alex Rodriguez' name from the contractor who erected our steel building. The steel erector did an excellent job and, after meeting Alex who seemed like a pretty good guy, decided to go with the steel erectors referral and use A-Reliable Foundation Repair. One of the bigger mistakes I have made in my life. First off, he primarily does foundation repair but told me he does all types of concrete work. We started this project in late May and paid 1/2 down. I can't even begin to tell you the almost endless excuses that followed us giving him the first check e.g. weather, sickness, daughter in emergency room with broken collar bone (sent me x-rays as proof probably because by this time he had cancelled so many times that he knew I wouldn't believe him). Finally, I left him a very heated and long voicemail telling him that I thought he was doing nothing but scamming me, how the **** was he still in business and that at this point I felt the job was never going to get done and that I had thrown away my money. Alex was very aware that we wanted this job done ASAP as it was holding up other work that needed to be done. At one point we cut a trip short to Dallas, TX, because he said that he was going to have a cement truck come on Saturday. The truck never showed up so when I asked him what the deal was he said that I had never confirmed that I wanted it for Saturday. He must have forgotten the phone conversation we had on Wednesday telling him if he could have the truck there on Saturday that we would come home from Dallas on Friday. "Oops, yeah Mr. Steinmetz...I do recall that. Let me call the concrete company and see if they can come out Monday." Monday didn't happen nor Tuesday nor a week. Finally two weeks later they arrive to finish rebar and call the truck in to pour. They poured partially in the rain (not a whole lot) but enough that these amateurs couldn't deal with it. Long story, short...it was a very terrible job that really only became obvious to me the next day when the sun shined on it a certain way. It had also rained and I could see dips and valleys in the concrete, a shoe print, no drain between the two buildings as we had agreed upon, etc. I had already paid Alex in full (huge, huge mistake) and, boom, he was gone. Moral of the story...never fully trust the reference from someone else who you don't know that well even if they have personally done excellent work for you. It was only after we had already paid 50% down (and when I tried to get it back because of all the excuses I was told, "Sorry Mr. Steinmetz but I have already paid for concrete and rebar" that I decided to check Angies List to see if he was listed here. Yep, sure was...I am not the only person to be very unimpressed with his work with all of the previous reviews giving him an F. I will be filing a report to the Better Business Bureau but my guess is that I am screwed. The sad thing is I would have been better off if I would have just eaten the 50% down and told him to never come back to my property again. If you want a good job done, on time and by a professional, do yourself a favor and look at ANYONE else but this company.

    Ocean Blue Pools Inc
They actually started building the pool in March or April.  It cost like $65000.  They could have given me more information and kept me updated better.  Their price is good, they were pretty comparable with everyone else.

    Custom Paving
I usually dont write reviews lol but for these guys I just had to. I couldn't believe all what the done for the price they gave us, they are truly a blessing. Because of our financial situation and my daughter having a hard time walking on what we had in our driveway they went out of their way to give us the best price and a smooth beautiful driveway. I can keep my car clean now!!!!lol. Totally improved the looks of our property couldn't be more pleased. He was very punctual on meeting us and just a super nice guy. We told our whole neighborhood about these guys. We live in the Alvin Texas area and we have paving contractors all around us and we met with 2 of them and the other two wouldnt even give us a free estimate, Custom Paving Rosharon was nearly half the price of the other bids we received. Truly a blessing and highly recommend Custom Paving Rosharon 979-583-6678!!!

    Summit Fence South
Their sales manager, Philip Strohbehn, came out at the scheduled date and time and walked the project with us and gave us suggestions on how and what to install. Philip was very responsive and easy to talk to...I didn't get the heavy sales pitch that almost immediately turns me off.
The work was of top notch quality but I do have several complaints:
    1) An assessment of the "lay of the land" was not as thorough as I would have liked. The issue is that in order to line up the top of the two side entry fences with the top of the gate a good size gap was left at the bottom of the fences. What should have been done was the side fences manufactured to be taller so that there would be minimal gap at the bottom of the fence. I would have understood a price adjustment as more material would need to be used to do this but it would have looked a lot better and been more functional in the end. We are now going to have to put in decorative rocks or something to close up the gap so that our dogs can't crawl under the fence.
    2) Installers were supposed to be out on a Sunday to begin the installation but never showed up nor called to say that they would have to cancel. We had turned down an invitation to go to a football party/BBQ because of the appointment. I have a very low tolerance for companies blowing off customers and not caring about what their personal schedule may be. If not for this no-show, I would have given them an "A" for Punctuality as they were on time for all other scheduled appointments.
The above critical comments not withstanding, I would highly recommend this fence company for their overall customer service and the quality of the product that they install. Their prices seemed to be maybe a little higher (based on other quotes we got) but, in the end and except for the two comments above, I am happy I chose them and would use them again...I would just be smarter in evaluating the project and would tell them up front that any non-contact, no-shows for scheduled appointments would cancel the contract.

    Ace Door Service
Mr. Sargee replaced was very nice and personable, he arrived on time, had all the parts and did the work in a timely manner. He even corrected an error (a backward part) on the door opener from when it was installed last summer and it runs so much smoother now. I will have him back in a few months to do the same thing for the other side.

    Overhead Door Company of Houston
Today I was reading my monthly Angie's List Magazine and found an ad for Overhead Doors of Houston.  It reads, "Never pay for a replacement part".  I called Overhead Doors and spoke with the Manager, Bryan.  He asked me for a while to research.  I agreed.  Two hours later, he called and said that he had spoken with the owner and the owner agreed that I should not have paid for the part.  They are cutting me and check and mailing it back.  This is the "TRUST" that their ad speaks about.  They have definitely earned my trust.
As to the original installation, I purchased wind storm rated doors because I live in Brazoria County,  Hurricane Country.  These doors are superior quality.  The Installation crew was on time, professional and courteous.  They took the time to explain the operation and maintenance of the doors.  As a contractor myself, I know how hard it is to find competent and courteous crews.  My installers were both.
    Thank You Overhead Doors.
