  • We chosee to have the cooktop upgraded. OneGuard contacted a local distributer, and found the model we requested at a discount. We will only pay the difference between a model comparable to what we had and the upgrade, and it will include installation which is to happen shortly. Although I would prefer that things not break, I'm very glad we have this warranty. The cost listed above includes $59 each for the two service calls (the oven and the cooktop) and the difference we're paying for the upgrade.

  • During the time of the needed repair, here is a summary of the actions taken:
    - Allied stated they did not have the information from their service agency to complete the repair.  When I called the service agency di

rectly that stated they had provide the information but would follow-up again.
    - Called a second time, this time Allied wanted to look at lower cost options to make the repair (note, there was no proactive call from Allied - all of this information was gained from me calling Allied repeatedly)
    - More days pass, still no repair or call from Allied.
    - More calls, more promised updates and resolution - nothing changed.  No response from Allied, no repair.
Of importance is that all of this has occurred in the Dallas area with temperature at or above 100F.
My issues are summaried as follows:
    -  Allied was not proactive in taking ownership of the problem and communication with the service agent
    -  Allied failed to provide any updates or returned call as promised
    -  Allied service representatives stated on the phone they the repair was too expensive and they wanted a lower cost repair
    -  Over 1 week has passed and still no completion of work or schedule for a repair.
    -  Allied and their service agent played the finger-pointing game
    -  I feel I was the only one trying to manage this problem between Allied and the Service Agent...which is really Allied' job.

  • They have been so far so good and everything has been pretty easy.  It is pretty simple to understand how much they are going to pay as it is on a new house.  If anything goes wrong I know I can call them and they will charge me just $ 59.  They are really responsive when I call them and they come out within four hours.

  • AC went out and First American sent their contractor. We were told the compressor had gone out and that it was covered. Their contractor told us that they would bill warranty company for parts but that it would be an additional 700 dollars in non-covered charges. We got a second opinion and were told that putting a new compressor in our old system would cause a lot of stress on the unit and we would end up tearing up other parts quickly. Our A/C guy ended replacing outside unit along with compressor, for about the same price of First America's contractor, and now we don't have to worry about the rest of the unit wearing out. First America did promptly send us the check to pay for the compressor part, but covered none of the related expenses

  • Conclusions:
This experience leads me to question the quality of Complete Appliances? subcontractors.
If you dig deep enough into the agreement, you will see that Complete Appliance only pays for a percentage of actual repair cost if replacement is required.
Do your homework before signing up with Complete Appliance; no service call deductible may not be off-set by the higher monthly expense or service reimbursement caps.
At this point, I?m looking for an alternative provider. Unfortunately, none of the home warranty companies on Angie?s List are receiving stellar reviews or ratings.

  • First of all, the people who work there are incredibly rude, they only work bankers hours and aren't open on the weekend, so when our AC went out on Friday night - we had to wait until Monday to do anything.  After numerous calls and emails, we cancelled our policy with them Tuesday because they would not cover a single part of the A/C repairs our system required.  About a month earlier, they sent a company out that "fixed" the AC for about 3-4 weeks until it broke again.  That company had to charge us an extra $150 for FREON because Colonial wouldn't cover the cost.
We chose Colonial to save some money over their competitors when we first moved in and it was our first mistake.  I don't know how other home warranty companies operate, but I imagine they're worth the extra money.  This company just takes your money and then tells you there's nothing than can do about it - about anything.  They'll find any excuse possible to make sure whatever problem you're having isn't covered by their warranty.  I heard the warnings from other people and even some of their VENDORS who said they're an awful warranty company, but now I learned the lesson the hard way.
Steer clear of this company - I can't imagine they'll be in business for long and you might as well flush your money down the toilet!  I had a $366 policy that I just cancelled after three months and they refunded me $142.  Sounds a little unfair, but that's how this company works.  I didn't want to argue about it, I just want to be done with these people.

  • A/C went out on a Sunday night in August. Sent a repair technician the next day who couldn't diagnose the problem. Came back out with his boss the next day (Tuesday) and said the system needs a new compressor and they would have to order the part from American Home Shield. The part was not delivered until the next Tuesday or Wednesday and not installed until the following Sunday due to the A/C company being "busy". Once the new compressor was installed the A/C still did not work effectively. I had to call a different A/C company because I did not want to wait another 13 days for A/C. The customer service representatives did not care about the problem and were quite rude. I also got a bill from the first A/C company for an additional $300 on the things AHS wouldn't cover. I am done with this company. I will put the $450 per year this policy costs into savings and use it for home repairs that will be completed the same day rather than 13+ days later.

  • The person they sent did not have the necessary equipment and did not fix the problem but still charged me fifty dollars. I feel I can t trust the people they send even though the yearly price is alright.
