He pulled out outlets that had been in the walls originally and I ended up paying the electrician to put them BACK in (since he put the drywall up before I got the electrical work done). When he finally did the door in the garage he was supposed to put a header in but instead they knocked out the drawn on brick on the back of the house and damaged some of the surrounding cinder blocks. The door did not have a header and would not open. I had to call in someone else to fix the door because of his mistakes. Another thing was that I found he’d damaged a stuffed Queen Anne chair and said he was going to get it fixed for me, but he never followed through. He also tried to get me to pay for hiring a worker who HE hired to move my water heater, even though the pipes were crisscrossing and I had to have someone come out later to fix. He also rented a saw and a machine to heat the room and charged me for them, even though I never gave my okay to do so and they were not in our contract. A week after the first contract was signed, he came back with another contract and wanted an additional $3080 to put in a floor, but I refused to sign it. The basement was supposed to be painted and the doors were supposed to be put in place according to our contract, but he came and picked up his tools and I haven’t heard from him since. If he does come back, I’ll edit my report to show the update.

    1) Mr. Goyette first put in the gate, but he built it with metal joints and hinges on the outside of the gate and it remains unpainted.

    2) Mr. Goyette began to work on the basement and even though I specified that I wanted everything to code, he pulled out two existing electrical outlets, called in an unqualified handyman to move my water heater, and hung sheet rock before the electrical rewiring could be done.  Some of the walls were hung crookedly and when pointed out were not repaired.  He purchased doors without my permission and then used money I supplied for pain, drywall, and hardware to rent a heating machine and a saw to cut the back door.  He then tried to have me sign new contracts to extort more money from me to lay a floor and charged me $500 to lower an existing dropped ceiling.  I refused to sign any new contracts.

    3) I had to pay electricians over $800 to install and reinstall the outlets that Goyette had removed.  I also had to hire a plumber to repair the pipes that his handyman crisscrossed when moving my water heater.

    4) When putting in the door - the main reason I contacted the company through Angie's List - Mr. Goyette said he would install a header over the door because it was a load-bearing wall.  He partially cut through the cinder blocks behind the garage and he and his helper used hammers on drawn on (facing) bricks.  He also held me up for more money to buy concrete because he had damaged several of the cinder blocks.  After he put the door in place,  I kept asking him about the header and he took a couple of days before he acted.  In the meantime it was evident that the door was not functional.  It could not be opened because it was in crooked and there are gaps on all side of the door leading outside.

    5) The damage to the outside of my home will cost $600 to repair, and Mr. Goyette also damaged a stuffed Queen Anne chair that i must have repaired.

    6) Mr. Goyette agreed to pay to have the door repaired after I received a $300 estimate from a legitimate remodelers.  He has yet to contact the other remodeler even though I gave him the gentleman's card.  He also offered to pay to have my chair reupholstered, but has said nothing about this since then.

    7) After letting him know of the cost of the repairs, Mr. Goyette disappeared for 3 weeks.  He would not return my calls until I threatened to have his equipment removed from my home.  He was supposed to come yesterday - February 16, but did not because I wanted to talk to him and scheduled a visit for today, but he still did not return my calls about visiting today.

    8) Today, February 17, 2012, I called him and said I would  no longer call and would have his equipment removed.  He immediately called me back and said he would come by my home at 10:00 a.m.  I told him it had to be then because I needed to go to work.  After I waited until 10:30 (the electricians were putting up the light fixtures) I left for work.  He called and said he would be at my home at 11:30, and would finish the priming.

    9) When I returned home, he had not done the priming (left a note that there was only paint, but did not call me to find out that the primer I had purchased 3 weeks earlier was in the nearby closet) and removed all of his equipment. (ladder, push broom, radio, lights, and paint tray, brushes, etc.)   I do not expect him to return, but I will let Angie's list know if he does.

    10) Now, I have rooms with no doors installed (although three have been purchased), the dropped ceilings he installed have not been arranged so that light fixtures can be placed in the middle of the rooms.  I had a tile floor put in a small laundry nook that revealed slanged uneven walls.  My chair is still damaged and I will need to pay $900 to repair the door (replace the door he installed, which is a damaged steel door) and repair damages to the side of my home.  I will also  need to hire a bona fide carpenter/remodeler to complete the job and install the drop ceilings properly.  Meanwhile, I have been bilked for over $6,000.00 and have depleted my savings after dealing with Mr. Goyette and K & J remodeling.
