Home Builder reviews in Pigeon Forge

  • K&R Home Service was one of three bids we took for rebuilding our deck and adding a pergula.  The bid was $2000.00 less than the closest other bid and the workmanship was excellent.  They tore down the existing deck carefully, preserving the existing joist hangers, hauled the trash away and rebuilt a beautiful, study deck and pergula to our specifications.  Ron Johnsen, the owner of the company, was onsite daily and made helpful, economic and tasteful suggestions in the design of our structure.
The bid was very much better than any other we receivied and was on time not only with the bid, but also the construction of the structure.
He and his crew were friendly and well-mannered, as well as clean and on-time.
Since this initial work, he has also replace an outside door that needed some frame reconstruction and repaired our fence from storm damage.  I plan to use him again for painting and cabinet work in September.

  • Hooked up my refrigerator to a 220 Watt line blew out all the motors

Hooked up a 220 watt baseboard heater to a 110 line

Promised to install separate electrical connection for my backup generator - never did it - had to pay another electrician to install

forgot to put insulation in the roof

never put house wrap on the home

built two floor deck with no footing or cement under pillars

built an extension on the house over a deck with no footers - room has sunk over the years 6 inches will cost over $5,000 to level out -when  realized room was sinking, requested owner of American Home Builders to come and look at the problem, said a year had past, not responsible.

put in wall to wall rugs in bedrooms without stretching carpets

did not inform owner that in a walkout basement he would put 3 pillars down the middle of the room - had another builder put in a laminate beam so that middle pillar could be taken out and have a large open area - cost was minor.

put in a heat pump in the attic that leaked and the bedroom ceiling fell in because of all the water

installed 23of  the cheapest possible windows that leaked like a sieve - had owner known would have requested better quality windows

promised a hidden ladder access to garage attic - never happened

under estimated the cost of excavating for the house by over $5,000.00

Had to replace walk out basement door because header was bowing

All the cement work in front of the house (driveway, sidewalks) have shifted, cracked, heaved within the first year.

Outside door from going onto deck had to be rehung

Individuals working for contractor over all were not very professional except for carpenter ( one woman left female hygiene products on the property)

In my opinion would not let this contractor build a dog house

  • It went very well. He's a very busy man so it took him a while before he was able to do the job but he told us that upfront and his work was good, he was a good person, he'll do whatever and we're happy with him. We were real happy with his work. He laid the cement one day and let it cure and then 2 days he had to dug the hole to put the cement in to hold up the pier and then 2 days later they came in and put the pier in so it was done efficiently, we don't have to call back or anything, it was a really good experience. We're going to use him again.

  • We have built three homes in the Sevierville and Kodak areas with
American Home Builders, and they have bid them very competitively.  Even
in a down market we were able to sell the homes at a great profit.  The
subcontractors performed the jobs to satisfaction and the owner,
The contractor kept us up to date on everything we needed to know.  When there were punch out issues, the builder sent people over in a timely manner.  If you want to make money when and if you eventually sell your home, I
    suggest using American Home Builders.
The were only 2 negatives with the projects:
    1. They took a couple months longer than anticipated, but there were weather factors involved in all
    fairness.
    2.  The jobsite was untidy sometimes after subcontractors had left, but that was not a big deal after it was all said and done.

  • I called Service Plus in the morning and was given a time for service later that same afternoon.  The office staff was very courteous and professional.  They were able to give me a price based on my description of the problem.  Actual charges were same as estimate.  The worker set about to replace the broken springs and cables immediately and was done in short order.   He also sprayed the rollers and all moving parts with silicone spray (no charge for that).
This is the second time I have used Service Plus, and will most definitely use them again if needed.
I don't know how they could have provided any better service or price.

  • Dan Mitchell is a professional contractor, he is multi talented, does not lack integrity, and is a fine Christian man.
We have asked Dan to assist us with many projects at our home, and we are very pleased with his help in planning. He offers many approaches to what we were looking for, and he let us decide what work best for us in terms of meeting the requirement and cost. We will ask Dan to help us with every project we have, he is our contractor.
Call Dan for a quote you will not be disappointed.

  • The whole project was amazing when we did have an issue Mr Richard's was quick to address it and have it fixed to our liking. At one point Mr. Richard's noticed a corner wall that the drywall hangers had made crooked and he took the initiative to have it fixed without a word from us, in fact, he noticed it first. Very pleased with all the workers that he hired. Mr. Richard installed my wood floors himself and they are beautiful. He also installed my kitchen cabinets and we love them. Great job.

  • The guy’s name is George Meyers. They seem to be really good folks. I’m very impressed. They seem to go above and beyond in what they do. They seem very concerned. They don’t seem to cut corners. They work to do what you really want them to do. Their price was more than competitive. They are the best we got in terms of price. I would absolutely use their services again in the future.

  • We purchased a foreclosure home in Dandride TN which required an extensive rehab and remodel. We found Eric Martin after a horrible and costly experience with another contractor in the area that left us in a disastrous situation. Eric Martin's pricing was very competitve and he seemed to be very capable to handle the job. The project involved adding a two car garage plus 600 square feet of living space, and completely remodeling the existing structure from the foundation up to and including the roof. We soon learned that Eric was not only capable but became an asset in helping us plan and design the remodel. He was on the job every day as he had stated he would be. He not only performed his duties as a general contractor and hands on carpentry and other trade skills, but he made recommendations that saved us money and greatly improved the overall job. We live 800 miles from the job so trust was an important factor. Eric exceeded our expectations in all aspects. We strongly recommend Eric Martin Remodeling from minor repairs to major remodels or new construction. If we were ever to take on a project like this we would hire Eric without competitive bidding. We plan to use Eric Martin exclusively for any future work. We trust Eric explicitly. We have had many experiences with numerous contractors remodeling projects over the past 30 years. Eric Martin is undoubtedly the best we have ever worked with. We highly recommend Eric to anyone in the Sevierville, Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, Knoxville area.

  • He did outstanding work. He knew everything he needed to know about the structure and he took such good care of my house. I used him because of his resume; he?s a home inspector so he has that knowledge and he went to school for structural engineering. I got quotes and he was one of the most reasonable people I called and he had the best quality. He had it done in three weeks. I recommend him.
