Carpet Installation reviews in Ooltewah

As a woman I felt very comfortable working with Mr. Benson he was alway very receptive to my vision and also took some extra time to educate me. It was such a good experience I'm looking forward to my next project.

The owner arrived promptly and was very courteous and polite. He quickly performed the services requested which included cleaning and stretching the existing carpet. He even removed some rust stains we thought could not be removed. He also agreed to drive to Pigeon Forge from Knoxville for a very nominal charge. I would highly recommend his services.

Company was very accommodating in altering schedule for installation at my request.   Carpet was promptly ordered (120 yds).  Carefully and quickly moved furniture to allow for removal of existing carpet.  I noted that the padding material brought was not what I had ordered; the installers quickly located and obtained the appropriate padding and picked it up for installation that same morning.  Hard working, 2 man, crew; started at 10 am and completed at 8:30 pm with only one brief lunch break.  Professional and quality workmanship by an experienced crew.  Removed and hauled away all old carpeting and padding; left a few scrap pieces of carpeting for future patches at my request.

Their price seemed fine. The quality might be because of my selection. I was just buying some new carpet for a house I was putting on the market. The installation process was fine. They were good. I would use them again if I needed to.

I thought it was great. Tom, who owns the store, waited on me. Of course, he is very knowledgeable and he helped me pick out heirloom rugs. He was happy to help me and had a very pleasing personality. He did the work for me, he ordered what I wanted, he found the carpet and he himself delivered it to me with a helper. I was very pleased and would go back to him in a second. I thought the carpet was very reasonably priced.

The experience was awful and the quality of the flooring is just as bad. When we were picking out the flooring we explained that we wanted extremely durable hardwood. Marsha assured us that Hickory flooring we picked out would be just that. She raved about it's 25 year warranty and the aluminum oxide coating. In fact, she told us her son had the same brand installed, and it still looks great. I'm not sure what she was talking about, because we can't keep gouges and scratches off the floor. We first ordered the flooring in October after their installer (2nd one) came and measured the area. It was supposed to be delivered and installed the next week. We received a call a few days later that the flooring wasn't available in the factory like they initially thought it was. It was supposed to be delivered in two weeks so we arranged an install date. Again, a few days before we were supposed to get it installed, they said that when they called and ordered it from the factory they didn't realize the company didn't have the full amount in the same lot number and that now it was backordered. So, again, we waited. They tried to talk us into ordering a different brand, but we couldn't find anything we liked. Also, it seemed odd to us that everything we picked out as a possible alternative was the same price, or more, than the hickory we picked. Even the oak with less warranty coverage, they said was the same price. We decided to wait for the original flooring. We said for them to let us know when it came in, and we would arrange for it to be installed. We had hoped to have the floor installed before the holidays. Thank goodness we waited to tear out all the old flooring or we would have been stuck with subfloor for 3 months! We finally found out the flooring was delivered a couple of weeks before Christmas so we opted to wait until after New Years. We didn't want to have to worry about decorations and our Christmas tree needing to be moved. The day the installers were supposed to arrive his son was sick and so he couldn't come (we totally understood because we're parents as well). However, they arrived anytime from 10:00 -1:00 (when they did come) and left an hour or so later for parts, lunch, etc. They would then want to work until 6:00 or 7:00 at night. We have children who need to eat dinner, do their homework, relax and go to bed a decent hour. It was almost impossible with the hours they were here. Also, they started on Wednesday and were supposed to be done on Saturday. They weren't even 1/2 way done by Saturday. On Tuesday, we were told they calculated wrong and didn't have enough flooring. My husband talked to Sun Mills the next day and they said they could get the flooring in two days in the same lot number (strange since it took soooo long to get it originally). They told us it would be an additional $400.00 even though it was their fault they calculated wrong. The best part was that when we got the bill they even tried to charge us the $50.00 expedited shipping fee as well as charging us more per square foot than we had originally paid. We refused to pay for the shipping or the extra cost, but we still paid over $300.00 more than we had been originally quoted (or budgeted for). After all this, we were supposed to have everything finished the next Tuesday. Again, the installers couldn't come for another two days, but it was finally done on Thursday. In other words, what we ordered took 3 months longer than told to get installed and what should have been installed in 4 days took 2 weeks!! The whole thing was/is a mess up to and including the flooring that is not holding up like we were told. If you value your time and money, you will find a different place to spend your money and time!! **We originally went with Sun Mills because of all the rave reviews here on Angie's List. I'm not sure what's happened since, but there is no way I would ever go with this company if I had to do it over again!!

Had to call Hanks to get someone to measure floor after they failed to schedule it. they did not have a great selection in the warehouse but after a lot of looking we found what we liked and the price was good.

The carpet is exactly what I wanted and was MUCH cheaper than what you can get at Home Depot or Lowes. The guys did a great job on the installation. The ONLY complaint I could possibly have is that they left their cigarette butts in my garage and driveway. Otherwise, it was a perfect experience. I LOVE my new carpet.

Installers arrived on time, went right to work, didn't disappear for lunch. They were careful not to create dust in any other part of they house. They conferred with me on certain matters which involved my input and seemed to take great pains to get it done right. After the job was finished they cleaned up every bit of debris from the carpet and vinyl. They were polite but not overly chatty..
