    Tennessee Contracting Services Inc
From the beginning TCS has been friendly, informative, competitive, and professional. Our aging 20 year old 3-tab shingle roof needed replacing, as did many of the wooden soffits and fascia original to the 1980-built house (so, some serious rot). We decided to get 6 bids due to the anticipated expense of the project and necessary expertise. TCS had a bid price for the roof just below average for everyone else, and we especially liked that the bid itemized expenses so we could really see the cost of the roof, the gutters, the soffits and fascia, the window siding, and the skylight install. This allowed us to select which were priority items based on our budget (they offered an estimate for a wooden porch replacement we opted to deal with later). We also enjoyed interacting with James and Donnie more than any other contractor. James seriously knows his stuff and is thorough with photographed documentation of the problems that needed addressing, so we never felt skeptical of his suggestions and believed the cost reasonable. Donnie has a keen eye and was very particular with exterior wood replacement and skylight installation. The result was very professional work that took into account our own concerns vision. Given the scale of our project and the length of time we will be living here, we were quite hands-on with product selection, so the bid was updated several times and took about two months until construction. However, James was incredibly patient as we confirmed or purchased products and gave his advice on particular products costs and performance. The result was an educational experience and a superior construction job, and we feel we have found a permanent company for future needs and repairs. It was honestly a pleasant and relaxed experience working with the TCS crew, and we hope they felt the same way. I think they are proud of the finished job, and they should be. A work summary is below. Roof: Replaced a 3-tab shingle roof with GAF architectural charcoal shingles. Included replacing decayed rubber boots around pipes with metal boots, and they painted boots and pipes black to blend in with the roof. Soffits and fascia: Original wood fascia of the house was rotting away. We replaced it with aluminum-wrapped soffits. Wood soffits were replace with very nice vinyl ones with more ventilation to help cool the attic and reduce wood maintenance effort. Speaking of the attic, they also braced a split roof truss for us to ensure stability. Gutters: Old 4-inch gutters got clogged frequently. We upgraded to 6-inch gutters and downspouts to better handle increasingly heavy rainfall. One of the gutters leaked shortly after install, but a call to TCS had them out within days to fix the work. Siding: We have a bay window that faces west, so all of the wood has just decayed over the years. TCS replaced it with hardie board and painted it white to match the new soffits Skylights: We have a very dark hallway and looked into Velux sun tunnels as an option for natural light. We bought the size we wanted and Donnie installed them in between frequent rains of April. We opted for a rigid rather than flexible tube system which was the main materials change I was adamant about, but they did a stellar job installing and how we have bright, natural light in our hallway and kitchen. Porch posts: Our front porch is held up by for traditional Colonial style posts that were hollow and destroyed by wood peckers. We acquired new octagon columns from a wood shop, and TCS installed them and removed the colonial posts. We're now resting easy not worrying about a sudden porch/roof collapse. Bonus: Given the time and effort they were spending on our home exterior, they offered to replace our rusted porch ceiling lights for free if we supplied new ones. We bought some flush-mount fixtures and now have bright LED porch lights that match other dark accents. Chimney cap: James was the only one of six contractors to point out that we needed chimney repair. We suspect a past chimney fire cracked the lining and will probably require work within the chimney in addition to the cap. We did not take his repair bid at this time because it would be a shame if their craftsmanship had to be destroyed for interior repairs. He gave us some contacts, though, with whom we will follow up this summer for a thorough inspection. Still though, you would think other roof contractors working around a chimney would say something (James showed us photos). The house has long-deferred maintenance that we are finally addressing, hence the extensive work done by TCS. Initially the project seemed overwhelming, but James and Donnie were excellent at guiding the process, and we are extremely happy with their work. I recommend them and will certainly look into their service again as needed. Thank you to James, Donnie, and their whole crew! I will try to upload some photos when I get better perspectives from the before and after.

    Archadeck of Nashville
Working with Archadeck of Nashville was the most positive construction experience we have ever had. They epitomize professionalism and their craftmanship is second-to-none. Our porch looks beautiful and we have really enjoyed being out there; the cost was moderate and the result priceless! I highly recommend them!

    Archadeck of Nashville
There are very few contractors out there who can be trusted. We knew from the start that Archadeck was who we'd choose. Russell's professional and courteous demeanor made him very approachable. We discussed in great detail exactly what we wanted and he worked with us on every detail. He provided 3D renderings of the project which was very valuable to have to get a clear picture of the outcome. The two Pauls that actually were here day in and day out were masters at woodwork and we enjoyed having them around. Their work was spot on and they were so helpful. They even came back to hang our swing bed for us! The end result was much more than we even imagined. We have had a couple of minor issues with the roof but they've been out here the next day to resolve the problems. Very reliable. We have received so many compliments on our new porch and deck and have referred many folks to Archadeck. Hands down, best company for your big project!

    Timberstone
Wonderful. They even had ideas as to how to incorporate a square wood deck up against concrete that had curves. True designers and I felt it meant as much to them that the job was designed well as it did to me.

    Archadeck of Nashville
They recommended we go with an Eze-Breeze system which we absolutely LOVE, and allows us even more flexibility with our space and more seasons to enjoy it, all within the budget we were planning. The craftsmanship and attention to detail was above and beyond anything we've experienced, and they had an enormous amount of professionalism during the process. I strongly recommend Archadeck and would hire them again without hesitation!

    SMC
Our project started out promising, but quickly went from bad to worse. Bobby was great in the beginning in getting us a quote and discussing the project. He worked with us to refine our plan and was responsive and friendly throughout the negotiation process and while getting HOA approval. SMC was set to begin the project in early August 2015. After numerous delays they finally began the project weeks later. We were told the entire project would take 2-3 weeks. At the beginning of October (8 weeks later) the crew had still not finished the work. There were install issues with the original deck and paver pad. Bobby had to fire his first crew and redo most of the project. The second crew came out and instead of fixing all issues only bandaged the issues. Bobby always seemed very concerned in fixing the issues and would offer additional items such as a planter box to ease our concerns. In early October we left the country for a previously planned trip. The second crew had not yet finished, but we completed a preliminary walk-through on the job as they were expected to finish while we were gone. We cut a check, post-dated it, and gave it to Bobby. This was a big mistake on our part. SMC was supposed to come through for an official, final walk through upon our return, but because we cut the check, that never happened. We spent most of the winter trying to get ahold of Bobby and SMC to not avail. There were some issues with the final product and the paver pad began sinking as soon as it was completed. We finally got ahold of Bobby in late February / March, and in typical fashion, he was friendly and accommodating. A third crew did fix it and Bobby added a flower box around the outside at no additional cost, but then that crew left the project without it being complete. When I attempted to call the foreman and find out when they were returning I was told he was fired and to call Bobby. Once again, multiple attempts to reach Bobby were made, but no return calls were received. In June, I finally got back in touch with Bobby who had me work with one of his employees (fourth crew) on the remaining issues that were not resolved the first time around. I was able to work with the employee regarding the issues. He was very concerned about the install and the flaws. He told me he was embarrassed by the craftsmanship on the job and SMC would not want this shoddy work associated with their name. I was told multiple times that I was very important and that my issues were a top priority for SMC. We set a date (which was delayed multiple times) to begin the work and I was told to expect the project to take just a few days, but when the time came for the fourth crew to come out and fix the issues they was a no show. I called him and was told he was no longer with SMC. This was early October 2016. Again, multiple calls to Bobby and SMC were made to find out what happened. After a week of no response from SMC I finally got in touch with Bobby when I called from a different number. Bobby told me my warranty for the labor was out of date since it had been more than a year even though I had been working with SMC during that time to rectify the issues from the initial install. Bobby indicated to me that SMC will be going out of business in the very near future. He told me that his team now involves just him and one other crew member. He said there is nothing he can do for me and threatened me by mentioning all of the free work he did on my job. All we ever wanted was a quality project, we did not ask for these free items, they were added to the project by Bobby in an attempt to smooth things over. For nearly a year now I have considered writing a bad review about SMC, I have not because of Bobbys willingness to help and attitude during every interaction (even when it was challenging to get a response from him). It is frustrating that I am now being told that my project is no longer under warranty a lack of responsiveness from the contractor should not allow this. If SMC truly goes out of business, we will be unable to resolve the outstanding issues with this company. I am currently searching for a contractor to come and fix the install issues from SMC so I can have a properly finished deck.

Lawson Construction Company Drafting and Design
Rick was great to work with. He took a lot of time to review the plans, costs, materials and other information with us. He talked with us to understand what our needs were (we have dogs we wanted to plan for with gates and stairs) and explained some of what he was doing and why it was best practice. The job was done beautifully, and they cleaned up the area completely afterward. Great job!

estimator came out, reviewed our needs, and promptly sent back cost.    his investigation revealed existing problem that was to be fixed along with scope of their work.     Work began on schedule.    Rain delays was only major hiccup to finish quickly.   Crew worked well together and cleaned up every day.

    FRANKLIN FENCE & DECK
I sent an email to the owner and contacted the company via their website on 13 SEPT 2014, explaining in reasonable detail that we needed a ground-level, ~12' x 22' deck demolished. We already removed the railing and most of the flooring, but we wanted to get a professional to remove the joists, ledger board and footers.
We promptly received a call back from a Brad or Brian, within 48 hours. He let my wife know that he'd come by in a couple of days to check it out. However, we never heard from anyone again. If they were too busy, or the work wasn't worth their time, that's fine and I understand. But let us know ASAP. We have a series of things we need to accomplish in a particular order, and access to the rim joist and sills are part of it. We can't do this easily without removing the ledger.
In the meantime, we demoed it ourselves, completely digging up the footers as well, minus the ledger. It's not a hard job but we have too many other things going on that slipped because we had to eat up a weekend on demoing a poorly installed, semi-rotten deck.

    Gables Pressure Cleaning & Painting

Elias contacted me within a few hours of my leaving him a voicemail requesting a quote.  He was very professional and clearly explained the process, so I scheduled an appointment to meet.  He arrived on time, listened to my explanation of work needed, and offered options for what he could do to accomplish my goals.  He maintained good communication with me throughout the process.  The power washing and staining of my fence look very good.  I also had him power wash and seal the walkway and driveway; which also look great.  I am very happy working with Elias and have asked him to do additional work for me.  Thank you Elias for a great job!
