About Us

From The Ground Up Inspections has been in business since 2004, providing clients with an unbiased detailed inspection report, that goes beyond what the state of Tennessee requires. The company has a tag line; Every home is inspected as if I were buying it! My background in the construction trades goes back to the mid seventies, when in high school it began with classes for credit in Building Trades, we actually built houses every year for the school. I continued to dabble in the trades until the nineties, and then went on to something new. In 2002 a friend of mine had a local home inspection franchise, and he asked me to come help him. I went to the structured school for this franchise, and became an inspector for his company. The company closed in 2004, that's when I decided to open my own company. At this time the state had no standards for home inspectors, anyone could print up a card and be a home inspector. In 2006 the state past legislation requiring licensing. I was one of the first to get mine, not by being grandfathered! I did everything someone new to the trade would be required to do. The state has guidelines in place that all inspectors must meet, and continue to meet such as education requirements, I highly recommend all consumers thoroughly vest any home inspector they higher. This can be done by logging onto the State of Tennessee website and going to the department of Commerce and Insurance. Every licensed home inspector is listed, along with how long they have been licensed and their education they have been accumulating. The main question I am asked when someone calls is how much does it cost? well I know this is on everyone's mind especially now. You should hire an inspector by pricing alone, sometimes you get what you pay for. My pricing is competitive, and are only about 20% higher now than when I first got into this back in 2002. Again there were no licensing requirement then and every inspector is required by law to maintain insurance, so basically the 20% is the added cost of merely being an inspector. Most average size single family homes can be inspected for approximately $300.00 - $375.00, there are factors that will change these prices, such as; square footage, (basement, crawlspace, or slab), age and so on. So call me I would be more than happy to talk to you even if you do not hire me.
