Tooth Extraction reviews in Maryville

Husband - the elder Dr. Harris saw him first, and my husband was very pleased with him just as the Angie's List reviews say. In fact, the only reason I didn't give the office an F rating was because of what my husband saw of Dr. Harris. The diagnosis and recommended meds for pain/antibiotic were accurate, and his bedside manner was excellent. Unfortunately, Dr. Harris the elder is now semi-retired and no longer does root canals.  He said his daughter would probably do the root canal. So far, so good. My husband came home relaxed and confident of the dentist.
Unfortunately, the doctor who walked in to do the root canal was young and very inexperienced. He couldn't find the third canal in the tooth, spent so long looking for it that he ran out of anesthesia time and ended up leaving a small piece of his root canal tool in my husband's tooth. This required a week of waiting, then another root canal to clean out the third canal and try to get the metal piece out.
The third dentist was a much more experienced man who did find and clean the third canal and put on the permanent crown. He also decided to leave the metal tool piece inside the tooth. My husband was unclear as to why. Yuck.
Unfortunately (again), my husband had trouble with soreness and food collecting around the tooth. Because of his experience and mine (see below) he decided to go to another doctor, Tommy Spears, who found that the previous dentists had left an 8 mm gap between the new crown and the next tooth. In the world of teeth and chewed food this is a large gap. Dr. Spears was able to rectify the problem with a new laser procedure, and we incurred another cost plus discomfort and lost time for my husband.
Myself - I went in for a standard cleaning. The technician was very nice, attentive, and did a very poor job of actually cleaning my teeth. I am no spring chicken, and I've had my teeth cleaned more times than I care to count. I've never had such a fast, slap-dash cleaning.  I had to tell her to go back and do my lower front teeth five times before I was OK with how they felt against my tongue. They weren't great, just OK. I don't want to think about what this means about how clean the rest of my teeth were since I can't really feel the plaque on them even when they need cleaning. They felt dirty again only two months later.
The dentist was young and so inexperienced that he didn't know what a crown looks like when the enamel has broken off. Sound familiar? He actually alarmed me with his alarm at "what is in your mouth" until I figured out what he was looking at. (BTW, the enamel is just for looks. This tooth was at the back of my mouth and doesn't show. My previous, very good dentist told me I didn't need it and the accompanying new crown procedure so long as I was OK with it and it didn't give me trouble by catching food particles.)
The technician made the appointment for my next cleaning herself, and I didn't want to hurt her feelings, so I made one, but I already knew I would change it to get another technician. After my husband's final visit, I decided not to return.
I have no doubt that the original Drs. Harris are excellent, but I don't think they have made good choices in how they screen and "season" technicians and new dentists. Unless you are already a Dr. Harris patient, going in for dental work here is like playing dental Russian roulette. We have moved on.

I had a jaw tooth and it had a crown on it,it started bothering me so they checked it and said it was gonna end up having to have  a root canal done on it.They said they could pull it an make me a new parcal and add that back tooth to the parcal that they would be pulling. They said it was a really nice parcal called a flexable parcal. It sounded great so I said lets do it.They pulled my crowned tooth and as I check out the girl looks at my bill and saw I would be returning when they wanted me to come in to do the impressions. She said this price they have down here for your parcals is not correct and she told me she was going to put a stop to it before it went any futher.I said but thats the price the dr,quoted to me.
So here she comes back and says the price will be something like $1,700 for the parcal.I said no no Im not doing that.I was bleeding and in pain so I just left thinking I could call back and fix the problem. No they would not give it to me after they pulled my tooth with a crown instead I ended up having a dry socket so they put me on medications. Then I was still hurting so I go back in and the dentist had to cut my jaw open and use a grinder to grind donwn a bone and then suture it up.When I left they said you owe nothing.
Then I recieve a bill for $66.00 and I called them. Not only was she rude she told me they would discuss it and call me back to let me know what they had decided on.They never called me then I recieved a bill for $129.00 and I called them. They said well it"s been turned over to collections and yes I said a few choice words and then she threatened to hang up.Im not paying this bill.If anything they should be paying me.Plese dont make this mistake by using this denistry. They show no remorse

Considering that my experience included a root canal and that I had a miserable experience with a similar procedure while living in California, the dread was almost palpable when I walked into the office.  Between the friendly staff and the great explanation by the dentist prior to the work, I can almost say that it was "pleasant."  Almost...

I had a root canal by Dr. Durand awhile back. The root canal was needed due to my nightime bruxism. He told me at that time that the root canal may not resolve the pain. And it didn't. So I am seeing an Orthodontist to get braces hoping that will curb my bruxism. Because I was still having pain, the Orthodontist wanted me to see Dr. Durand again so that he could make sure there wasn't an infection. Dr. Durand and his staff have always been polite and professional. When he performed the root canal, he made sure I was comfortable and wasn't in any pain. When I woke up the next morning in worse pain due to clinching my teeth in my sleep on a fresh root canal, I was able to call him, on his day off, and he called in a prescription for antibiotic. I was also able to go in after a few days on the antibiotic and have the temporary crown ground down so that it didn't hurt when my teeth touched.

They are great. They did everything to make my root canal as calm and professional as possible. The procedure was almost painless and recovery was just as they described it. They were terrific.
