5 Things to Check Before Hiring an Electrician

Electrician reviews in Louisville

Mike, the electrician, arrived on time and repaired and started immediately on completing the project. He was very professional, courteous, helpful and pleasant. Would definitely hire this company again if needed.

The technician was great! He did some troubleshooting and discovered the fan was fine so no charge for that! He then replaced a switch and got the kitchen light working in no time. Very professional, courteous and extremely helpful. Would highly recommend.

It worked out pretty good. I paid extra for them to put in the light fixture in addition to the cost of the Big Deal. I thought it was kind of expensive. The Big Deal was ambiguous, it just wasn't very clear. The guy that came out wasn't sure, and he didn't think it would be extra. After he looked it up, he said it was going to cost another $79, but he got it down to $59 instead.

The light fixture was pretty simple to put in. It wasn't a fancy fixture or anything, and it didn't take them very long to do. It cost more than what I had anticipated. Other than that, the guy was real nice and he did a good job. He did what he was suppose to do.

I just think there was a misunderstanding. I assumed it was going to be less. That was the only issue I had. The next time I will just be more careful about what they are going to do and how much they are going to charge.

I've used this company twice and have been very pleased with the responsiveness, quality, and value of their work. Both times the electrician was right on time and worked quickly and efficiently, doing a lot of work for a very good price. I've used many electricians through the years of owning several homes, and this one by far gives you the most for your money.

Work went very well. Mr. Longo was knowledgeable, very smart (and some people are knowledgeable without being smart!!), prompt, extremely professional, courteous, respectful of our home and our schedules. Work was meticulous, neat and clean. Mr. Longo has a lot of pride in his workmanship. He even gave me some pointers when I told him I was contemplating doing the job myself. This was money well spent.

It could not have been worse if they tried. Took almost 3 YEARS, lots of my time, energy, and money, as well as threatening legal action to have all work completely done. Unprofessional shoestring family operation cut corners, did poor quality work, said anything to placate customer. Broke water line multiple times while digging for loops then charged ME to replace it, saying it was old and would have broken on its own. Broke internet/phone lines more than once then put back in ground with improper repair Didn't keep topsoil on top when digging for loops, so now my yard has red clay where the loops are underground. Nothing will grow on top of this area. Was told I was getting (and paying for) new duct work, then discovered they were trying to reuse the old stuff while charging me for new. (Fortunately, that plan didn't work, so I got new duct work). One of their own employees told me about this. Heat pump did not work right, even after several trouble-shooting sessions, including bringing in someone from another company. Had no heat on Thanksgiving after having the NEW unit installed in July of same year. Took a year of phone calls and going round and round with the "office manager" to get a new unit and get it installed. (Second) New unit is 3 ton while ground loops are for a 2-ton system (which was size of original unit). So basically the loop is not long enough for circulation before it returns to the system, meaning poor efficiency and it simply cannot keep up to cool or heat after a certain point. A reputable HVAC company's service person told me this after I got frost (not condensation) on the loop lines inside my house in winter. (So after paying all that money for a more sustainable heat pump, I didn't get one.) The main duct off the system is not the proper size (it's a 14" but a 16" was called for). They put in a breaker box for my hot water heater (which was moved to be able to easily run excess heat from the unit to heat hot water in the summer) then left the wiring undone (yes that's potentially deadly because while you could flip the switch, the breaker was not actually turning off). They ran an electrical line outside a wall for 4 ft. then said they couldn't fix it when I complained (truth is, they didn't want to take the time to fish the wire inside the wall). I could go on and on and on, but I think you get the idea. None of the problems with my system can be fixed now, without spending thousands of dollars more, which I don't have because I spent it all on this system. I say this to underscore for you how important it is to hire the right contractor to install your geothermal system. Main point: RUN, don't walk, away from this "service provider" (and I use those words very loosely here). If you're looking for a geothermal system, there are several good companies in this area. Unfortunately, A&C Geothermal is not one of them.

They do an excellent job of keeping track of everything, laying out the lighting/switches/outlets for each home and responding to urgent requests. Cleanliness of work area is the only thing that sometimes is lacking, but that is true of nearly all trades and we are very picky.

Mark can do just about anything. We have used him and his company several times and have been pleased. He hung new blinds all throughout our house and put together a large, complicated bookcase. He also installed new smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors and quickly fixed a problem with the kitchen sink trap that a would have cost a couple of hundred dollars if a plumber had done it.

I am beyond impressed and pleased with Hood's Handyman Service.  Daniel, his staff, and other workers were highly professional, reliable, friendly, punctual, and skilled in their respective crafts.  I used the service for my parent's home, which originally had a water stain in the master bedroom.  Daniel quickly diagnosed the problem, which was an HVAC issue in the attic.  He gave us a great estimate for the complete HVAC installation - and removal of the old system.  This included relocating the new gas furnace out of the attic, and into an appropriate space.  Additionally, repairs to the ceiling, drywall, and painting - as well as minor electrical work, were included in this estimate.  The final invoice was in line with the estimate to the penny - this is obviously a high integrity company, with ambition and a drive to do things the right way.  My parents are so happy with the results, too.  Other estimates for the same type of HVAC installation was hundreds of dollars higher, and did not include the additional work that Hood's Handyman Service performed to the highest standard.
In summary, I definitely intend to use and highly recommend Hood's Handyman Service for any projects in my own home, friends' homes, or other relatives' homes, too!  The HVAC installation was seamless and ALL of the workers were so friendly and highly skilled.  I have no hesitation in recommended this company for larger jobs, and small ones too.  Daniel and his crew are always responsive and clear in their approach to getting the job done, correctly, professionally, and to the customer's satisfaction.  Awesome job guys!

We were extremely pleased with the work. Most of the light fixtures were high-up and difficult to get to which was no problem for the electrician. They fixed all the lights without damaging anything, including plants that were in the way.
I was very pleased with the excellent job they did aiming the sensors on the outdoor lights; none had to be redone after we tested them that evening. And they had a good solution for the very-high ceiling lights in the garage. Before they came, only one fixture reliably worked as we could not replace bulbs or ballasts in fixtures that are about 20 feet in the air. They suggested using the LED bulbs because they are supposed to last a very long time. Now all the lights are working, the garage is well-lit, and with luck no one will have to climb a tall ladder anytime soon. The only downside to that was how expensive LEDs are.
