Siding reviews in Lenoir City

    Litespeed Construction Inc
Kirby Smith (owner) visited my home to assess new siding and metal roofing for purposes of a quote.  Mr Smith was prompt and friendly.  I told him that it was my intention to start the project as soon as possible but to be completed no later than mid December.  I had certain repairs/reconstruction to be done to the roof gables, which he said would be no problem. But when I asked for corbels to be included for the gables,  he tried to talk me out of it (gable overhang is 24 inches and had sagged), suggesting instead that the gable eaves just be cut back shorter on one end of the house, but leave the other end of the house eave at  24 inches. In addition, he wanted to create a "box" around the electrical entrance pole in order to cover it with siding instead of just slipping the siding being the service drop as is customary. Neither of these suggestions seemed sound.  Also, I wanted the thicker 26 gauge metal roofing with high ribs instead of 29 gauge and he wanted to talk me out of that choice.  Mr Smith took measurements and said he would get back to me  in 2 days.  Two days later he called and said he was "covered up with work" and could not meet my timeline.  I asked him if he would still supply me with a quote in the event that I had not been able to arrange this work with another contractor prior to end of year.  He said he would but never got back to me.

    Tennessee Contracting Services Inc

David Barnett responded promptly to my initial contact and met me to determine job requirements.  His bid was submitted in a reasonable amount of time.  I chose this company over the other bidders because of the quality of materials used and their references.  This was not the lowest bid, but the project details met my requirements.

David did a fantastic job of coordinating the different crews (siding, roof, gutters), ensuring that the work was completed correctly, and checking to see that everything went well.  He made contact with me frequently and was at the job site every day.

The trade crews were on time, polite, professional, worked all the time they were at the house, and left the job site clean and neat at the end of the day.

High-quality materials were bid and utilized, and the house (and owner) are very pleased with the facelift.

    RoofPro Exteriors Inc
RoofPro replaced the roof that was damaged by hail on both the house and the detached garage. The work was done as scheduled and completely with a high level of quality.
They also replaced the siding on the back of the house and 2 windows. The siding was 14 years old and had to match the rest of the house. They did an excellent job of matching the siding, though the original manufacturer doesn't produce it anymore.
Matt was very enjoyable to work with and I always felt like I was getting personal and professional service, especially considering that all of the work was done while I was on the other side of the country.
I would definitely use them again.

    Magnolia Window & Door Company
We chose Magnolia as the most responsive among three siding companies we interviewed from a list of five taken from Angie's List.  Their representative, Mr. John King, listened attentively to all of our requirements for the job and included them all in the work order.
The crew, led by Mr. Tony Kelly, arrived as scheduled and set immediately to the task.  They informed us of their planned schedule and arrived daily with a full staff.  Each man knew his job and fit smoothly into the whole.  It was like watching a well-coached football team of experienced players.  At the end of each day, they carefully cleaned up the workspace and stored their equipment away unobtrusively.  The team was careful to avoid damage to shrubs and landscaping surrounding the house.  When all of our requirements were met, the crew cleaned the area thoroughly.  The job was completed on time and within budget.  They met or exceeded all of our expectations.  It's refreshing after all these years of home improvement jobs to finally work with such a competent, responsive and responsible group.  Magnolia did not provide the cheapest bid, but in excellence of the finished product and peace of mind during every aspect of the project they are worth every cent!
We are completely satisfied with the work performed by Magnolia Window and Door Co. and highly recommend their performance.

    US Window & Door Co

Bottom Line: Rick Miller (President of US Window & Door) is committed to 100% customer satisfaction.  Throughout the process of the repairs, he was constantly involved.  He made sure that my wife and I were fully satisfied with the work that was done.  As to be expected on such an extensive job, there were challenges.  However, Rick was always accessible and he ensured that the work was done right.

Here are some bullet points that might help other members in the future:

    • Mike Miller, the sales representative, arrived when he said he would.  He confirmed all that needed to be done and provided an accurate estimate of the cost.  This estimate was significantly less than others we had received.  During a meeting with Mike and Rick Miller my wife and I were impressed by their commitment to excellence and, taking into account the reviews of this company that we had read on the Angie's List website, we decided to contract with them to do the job.
    • The roofing crew worked very hard for as long as they could each day---until the temperatures on the roof exceeded 110 degrees.  It took them a while to get the job done, but ours is a complex roof structure and Tony (the roofing crew foreman) was committed to doing everything right.  The roof looks great!
    • The siding crew arrived immediately after the roof was done.  We had selected a new, high quality siding (Everlast Cladding) that had never been installed in this area before.  Joey and Joe (the two primary members of the siding crew) had attended training on how to install this siding.  They did a superb job and the siding looks fabulous.  It will last for decades!
    • The subcontractor that Rick had lined up to install the new gutters and downspouts had some serious health problems and Rick had to arrange for another contractor to come in from Nashville to do our job.  They were outstanding!
    • The last step in the process was to install gutter protection (Icovers) over all the new gutters on both the house and the barn and install the new window screens.  We'll never have to clean out clogged gutters again.  Hooray!

My wife and I suggested to Rick that he needs to improve communication with his customers so that they are aware whenever problems arise and crews may be late or work delayed. He agreed and said that he and his people will do better, especially when their workload gets back to normal.

    Debuty Builders Inc
I had Debuty perform repairs on my house from the April 2011 hail storm that swept through Knoxville, TN. The project manager that I dealt with was very knowledgeable, professional, and always returned phone calls in a prompt manner. He explained all the pricing, quotes, and what to expect, all of which was fair.  As per the roofing repair, the final product looked great.  I liked the extra time they spent caulking the nailheads, trimming excess shingles from the edges, and even had the IKO representative comes out to ensure the shingle color would blend.

The siding replacement portion of the house repair looked good, despite that the original company quite making the same color/size siding.  The project manager did his best to find a match, even though the size was a little larger.  The product was installed as soon as it was shipped.  They had the siding installed, area cleaned, and gone in half a day.  The gutters and downspout look good, and the project manager had the crew come back out to improve  little things that he thought would look better and function better in the long run.  The extra time he took impressed me.

Overall I was happy with the project manager and the final product.  They're not happy unless you're happy.  Not to mention the project manager refuses to leave a site until it meets his final in-depth inspection.  Any issues I had were addressed to the project manager who dealt with them in a professional manner.  Thanks  guys!

    US Window & Door Co
They showed up when scheduled for estimate. They did no measurements and wanted my copy of insurance estimate to use for their estimate. Due to Hail damage I needed my roof replaced. One picture window, all my guttering and one side of the house siding. They took a copy of my Insurance estimate then I never saw or heard from them again.

    Custom Renovations Co
The guy who came out to give us an estimate was a really fine guy.  He did a very thorough job of walking around the house and making all the measurements that he had to do in order to be able to provide us with an estimate.  Their estimate was extremely professional.  It was itemized and very thorough.  I was greatly impressed.  The thing that put us off a little bit is that their total was quite a bit higher than the company with whom we were equally impressed, but whose total was quite a bit less.  Custom Renovations Company is great, but they were just more expensive.  They did a great job of inspecting the house and provided us a very detailed estimate so that part of it was very good.  Their cost was quite a bit higher than we were willing to pay.  I would absolutely use their service in the future.

Champion Windows and Home Exteriors of Knoxville
We spent about $15,000. The windows are very, very nice; outstanding. However, we have had to replace the siding because they did such a poor job on it. They used a sub contractor to put in the siding and they were terrible. Their responsiveness to the siding issue was poor. I will use this company in the future for windows but not for siding.
