They gave me Service Prod heating and air conditioning. They did not show up at their time frame. They did not return my phone calls. 2 days later I called choice warranty who called service pros. They gave me another time. They did not show up or call. I called service pros up . They took no responsibility for not showing up or calling, lying saying choice warranty was supposed to call,. They then said they would be there in 25 mins. They then said you said you had a weak capacitor and choice would not pay for it unless it wasnt working at all. So after making me wait 12 hours over 2 days, they tell me this. Most professionals would have said it wont be covered at the beginning. That would have allowed me to confirm with choice if they would cover a weak capicitor or not without my time being wasted . They told me this at 8pm so I couldnt call choice to see if this was true. I had told choice I had my air conditioning serviced and was told my capacitor was weak. They set me up with this appointment, which would seem to me it is covered. ServicePros was completely unprofessional from start to finish and Wasted a lot of my time

I had a simple claim for an electrical repair. 1st electrician didn't show for appointment, second showed and came up with a ridiculous diagnosis, 3rd showed up, made an appropriate diagnosis, and said he'd come back to repair. Then he fell off the face of the earth. Wouldn't answer calls, texts, emails, or anything else. AHS had the audacity to charge me the service call because I "chose" to cancel his services. I've paid this company hundreds of dollars and they always find a way out of a repair.

I have been using them for long time. I had the seller pay for a year use when I purchased the house and I kept it up ever since. The price was comparable to others and I think their service has been recommended over the years by realtors and other people you know in that type of business. I would continue to use them in the future.

My air conditioning went out and I could have gotten them to replace it a lot cheaper. I could have gotten an air conditioning unit for around $100 but I paid $3,000 out of my pocket to have it done because I did not feel comfortable with them replacing it. I was getting ready to get rid of the home warranty. It was $150 a year. I hope they do the job correctly and not cheat the customer. The price was okay.

    How'd it go?
Background - We have a home warranty through First American Home Warranty company, if you are not familiar with them here are a few links to let you know the type of company they are:

Precision Door came out today to inspect the broken spring.  They arrived on time, only good thing about this company, and began to look over the garage door.  Looking back I should have known something was up when the tech stated 'is this an old garage door opener?', given that we had just moved into the house I had no idea.  What i do know is that up until the torsion spring broken this past weekend the garage door opener was working without any issues.
Now here is where the scam comes in, Precision Door Service gets 60 bucks for coming out no matter what, even if they dont resolve the problem.  As part of the scam with FAHW, they inspect the garage door, the opener, and rollers and what not.  Precision Door Service then calls the warranty company and tells them there recommendation.  Once that has been done, but before they tell you (the customer) anything they collect their 60 service fee and tell you that the warranty company will be calling you shortly and they will 'hang out' until you speak with the warranty company.  So....warranty company calls me and stats that the garage door doesn't meet "current safety standards" and given that they will not replace the torsion spring UNTIL......get ready for it.....the garage door opener is replaced.  And wouldn't you know Precision Door Service happily let the warranty company know they would replace the WORKING garage door opener for 325.00 dollars.
Now lets review, the garage door opener was working just fine, but since the torsion spring is broken is unable to lift the garage door.  In order to get the torsion spring fixed I am to replace the working garage door opener.  Immediately after speaking with the warranty company I knew this was a scam.  How could one possibly inspect the garage door opener for safety when the torsion spring is currently broken.

I had this warranty for 5 years. Every time I called them for something it cost $60. The very first time I made a claim, they sent someone out. After digging up my yard, they said they couldn't cover it, so I went ahead and paid $800 to have my plumbing fixed. I should have realized it was a scam then and cancelled my policy (which is next to impossible, by the way!). Last year, my A/C unit went out. The person they sent out said it needed to be replaced. Even though it should have been covered, they denied the claim, so I had to pay $4,000. I had another (unaffiliated) electrician check it out and he said it was an issue with the thermostat and could have been fixed for less than $200. Lesson learned!!!

I called them on Sunday and left a message.  On Monday, no one had called me back in regards to my claim.  I called them three times with no response.  The response time is very slow.  I finally got a hold of the sales dept.  By the time the plumbers got here on Monday afternoon, they were unable to get through to the claims department to authorize the work for the repair.  The technician was unable to complete the job.  The claims department now has said they will not authorize it because the tech mentioned something about rust, which they would not cover, even though the warranty covers garbage disposal.  However, the tech said that was not true because he has not really had a chance to look at the garbage disposal.  The tech has talked to me and said he would be back today and get the authorization for the repair.  It is impossible to get through to them to discuss the claims.   They are very non-responsive, they try to pass things on and try to get out of the work.

Terrible. Reading the fine print more closely and talking with customer services not much is covered. I had a range and a furnace break down during the time frame I used Total Protect. The furnace broke because the cooling coils had rusted through and the range because of an electronic power transfer switch. Granted the stove and the furnace were old. Nether were covered because it was considered normal wear and use. I cancelled immediately.

AHS was unable to find one of their vendors to come out but did not call back o tell me this. I finally called back and was told that, if I could locate a vendor on my own to come out and me pay up front, plus have the vendor call them upon completion of the work, they would reimburse me minus my service call fee. They did in fact do this. The vendor was not too happy to have to make the call and be on hold for quite some time to talk with them. My comment regarding pricing is that, I had a policy with AHS that I had been offered through my mortgage company. Upon refinancing my home, I called AHS to tell them that the mortagee was changing. They said the plan I had was no longer available and that I would immediately have to upgrade to their much higher, new plan. Their selling features were that it covers batteries in smoke detectors, and other assorted items that would cost less than $5 to fix. They wanted to increase my premium almost $25 per month. I told them to cancel, and they said that if I raised my service call fee from $65 to $125, they could hold my monthly premium. I chose to do this. At the time for my 2012 renewal, I received a call from AHS strongly advising that I add their recommended preventive maintenance programs to my renewal for an additional fee. They suggested heat and air, plumbing, electrical, and appliance preventive maintenance plans be added. I asked if they could mail me information and they advised that they have nothing in print that they could mail or e-mail me. I was called several times in an effort to sell me this, and in fact was told that covered repairs as outlined in my contract would be excluded if I could not prove preventive maintenance on an item for which a service call is made. I was told that I could either use AHS for preventive maintenance or contract with a 3rd party for these services, as long as I had proof that the preventive maintenace was performed. In addition to having the highest standard price that I could find for a home warranty program, with their wanting to add preventive maintenance programs for hundreds of dollars per year, I have cancelled my warranty.

When you choose a home warranty company, in general, they have you believe the contractors are local.  In many cases the contractor is not local, and your problem is not placed as a high priority.  You are last on the list for service, and that can be frustrating when the A/C is goes out, and it's 105 degrees in the shade.  Their pricing is right in line with everyone else.  I haven't canceled them, I'll give them another shot.
