Tooth Extraction reviews in Knoxville

    University General Dentists
After having two failed treatments from a different dentist at a different dental practice that fell off of my chipped front tooth I went to University General Dentists after reading an Angies' List positive review. I only had that morning to get the work done due to a non flexible work schedule that does not include sick leave time off and requires 14 day advance notice for days off. The office got me into an early 8:30am appointment the next day and Dr. Kyle J. Williams and his excellent assistant did the necessary exam/x-ray investigation and then offered me options to solve the problem. They then did an excellent job cosmetic bonding rebuilding the chipped tooth that morning before I was due to arrive at work at 2:00pm, matching it to the exact tooth color of the adjacent front tooth color and shape. Both the Doctor and his assistant work well as a team. Up to date panoramic x-ray machine film as well as bite-wing machine equipment was used.

    Evans, Dr. Mark E.
I've been using him for five years. He was actually recommended by my daughter's orthodontist because he is the dentist of the orthodontist. He's very, very nice. He's honest. The office staff is great. They go out of their way to help me. They're probably the very best dental office I've ever been to and I've lived in Ohio and Michigan. I would absolutely use him again.

    Evans, Dr. Mark E.
He is great. They are fantastic. I've recommended him to others. I've seen him ever since he has been in practice so it has been 20-30 years. He keeps up with things and his office staff is wonderful. They are so easy to work with. I feel so comfortable. He has done 2 root canals for me. They are very professional. It is a nice business to work with. It is a little tricky trying to schedule early morning or late afternoon. I think his latest is 4:30 or 5. If you have an emergency, they will take you as soon as you can get there. They make a really concentrated effort to help people with emergencies. They are open 8-5 but not on weekends. They do have an emergency number to call on weekends and they will meet you. They take dental insurance. I will absolutely continue to see him.

    University General Dentists
I had an excellent experience at University General Dentists.  Appointment times were flexible.  The staff was polite and friendly (two different things, btw).  Dr Young and his support staff were thorough and provided me a range of options to suit my budget and dental needs.  I never felt pressured to buy services or devices I did not want or need.  When I was in the chair for my appointment Dr. Young knew why I was there, knew what had already been done, knew what needed to be done, and was prepared to do it.  Each of those steps is important.  The dental procedures and devices I purchased were great and I am very satisfied with the quality and followup support.  I recommend this Dental Practice, and Dr. Young, to all and appreciate the quality of work performed.

    Wm Stephen Jones, DDS
A horrible experience for which we are considering filing a lawsuit.  In our opinion this guy is a psychotic monster.  My teenage son was abused and mistreated and threatened by Jones for complaining of excessive pain during and after oral surgery.  During the procedure he was in excruciating pain from inadequate/improper anesthesia and waving his hands to halt the procedure.  This guy told him if he did not shut up and behave "the needle would slip into his brain and kill him".  Jones called him stupid several times, even turning and telling the assistant "you can't fix stupid".  He began talking to my son as if he were a three year old or an idiot, speaking ultra slowly and childishly and condescendingly.  In the end we had to go to another dentist to have the procedure completed.  In our opinion he should be barred from ever practicing again.

    Foothills Endodontics
Outstanding Experience.... - Doctor was professional and knowledgable. - The root canal took very little time. - I had NO pain during or after. - The synergy between the doctor and his dental assistant is next to amazing. They do not speak....but know exactly what to do, when to do it, and whats next. - I overpaid my copay by $10.00 - Foothills had my refund check in the mail before I even got my insurance statement. Heaven forbid I need anymore root canals.....but if I do...this is where I am going.

I have had 2 root canals done recently and was very impressed by the professionalism
of the dentist and the caring feeling I received from all of the staff. A root
canal is no fun but they make it as pleasant as possible.

    Tragesser, Dr. Larry E.
    Wow!
How do you write a complete review on someone who has been your dentist and friend for 32 years? Well, you start with a WOW!
Dr. Larry has been our family dentist since I moved to Knoxville in late 1979. He and his staff are friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. If you think the notion of a painless dentist is a myth, you need to have a seat in one of his operatories for a procedure.
I'll warn you: he likes for patients to be alert during the procedure. But that's no problem because he makes sure you are comfortable. Over the years, he continues his learning curve on dentistry; however, the one consistent is his ability to handle a procedure with competence and efficiency, and as little discomfort to the patient as possible. I've often said I'd rather have him do a root canal on me than have blood drawn. It's the truth. And, he has often said that he wished every patient was like me. I walk in the door, have a seat, and explain what is going on in my mouth. We are a good team when it comes to my dental care.
Regarding crowns, root canals, and such: Dr. Larry has replaced many crowns in my mouth. He works with a crown professional who only does crowns for a hand full of dentists because he is so exacting. My crowns are beautiful! It's no cake walk to have these done, but it certainly is easier knowing they will be the right fit, color, etc. With root canals, he is very, very cautious. If you definitely need one, he'll do it, but he likes to preserve the tooth if possible. More than once I've had emergency root canals and he works me in immediately. Only on two occasions did he send me to an oral surgeon and endodontist respectively because of unusual situations. I appreciate his honesty and caring. I can call him day, night, weekend, and he will respond. He always checks on patients who have had a procedure like a root canal or a tooth extracted.
My daughter has not lived in Knoxville for more than eight years, yet, when a dentist in Atlanta told her that she needed a filling, she wanted a second opinion....from Dr. Larry! So, the minute she sat in his chair, he numbed her gum and did the filling. She didn't have time to consider it. But she trusted him. That's so important. She now finally feels comfortable enough to go to a dentist in Atlanta.
My son has been going to Dr. Larry since he was three. Recently, he has had to undergo a second set of braces done by Dr. Tom Pattison (see positive review on his page). Three teeth needed to be extracted. Dr. Larry made him so comfortable with the first extraction that there was no fear at all of having the second tooth pulled. The third one will require more work, so Dr. Larry gave my son the choice of having him do it or going to an oral surgeon. There is a real sense of concern for the patient's comfort, which is my running theme of this review.
Dr. Larry apologizes when he is running a little late, which is rare and related to an emergency. Since I have been that emergency so many times, I appreciate his apology and absolutely understand.
If you are looking for a thorough, friendly, caring dentist and staff who are in this profession to help patients when they need it, then you need to call Dr. Larry's office for the first appointment available.
