Chimney Cap Repair reviews in Knoxville

Mr. Brandon was here before and worked on the chimney cap to stop leaks during heavy rains in our fireplace. He repaired a crack that developed on the cap. He examined the Lymance damper and found no new issues. He came down and examined the fireplace and the damper. Since we have a gas fireplace that is vent-free. Closed the built-in damper. Mr. Brandon found no problems in the flue. When asked for the charge, he said that the visit was free as he had worked to resolve the issue before and there was no charge for the day.

Brandon and his crew was awesome, I needed my whole chimney repaired from old age. He was very professional and did a wonderful job. Always on time if not early and made my chimney look great. Very pleased with the work so glad i found him.

Brandon returned my call quickly was able to swing by that same day on his way back from another visit. He performed the services very well, actually being rather a perfectionist, and explained the work thoroughly. He related the pros and cons of needed repairs. We decided to order a more expensive chase cover that would last for decades. We have a two story house of which Brandon had to go on top. He and his wife were pleasant and professional, and we would recommend Tennessee Chimney Care to anyone.

I had been dealing with rain getting into the chimney and coming into the home through vents in my fireplace and inside the box and soaking the brickwork and causing lots of effervescence and damage to an expensive brass surround.. Water damage has also caused rusting etc. This has been an issue on and off for several years with other's trying to fix only to have the problem return a couple of years later. This year it was much worse than previous times

Rocky is especially knowledgeable in his field and applied this to fix the issues I had (..and sensitive to the past history in trying to get fixed)

I am extremely pleased with work done.

Rocky and his assistant, Terry, worked professionally and provided services that he said they would. Was especially pleased with the clean up after completion.... (mark of good tradesman). I was particularly happy with the measures he went to regarding working safely at elevation. No ladders...he put up scaffolding for ease of access and safety!!

They matched up the mortar color to where it is indistinguishable from the older mortar and was effective in dealing with all the cracks and mortar issues. He installed a new top quality cap seal and completed all the work he had contracted to do.

The day after completion we had a really severe rainstorm which in the past would have caused much water to get into the fireplace and on the brick inside the house. On observation I did not see ANY evidence of water ingress -:)

Unfortunately, I am not pleased with the appearance of the final product, however the functionality is intact. I have a very small fireplace in a small living room. This was designed in the 1950s as a coal burning fireplace. It's shallow, short, and narrow. I found a wood-burning stove on-line that fit into the space perfectly. These guys are responsible in terms of scheduling appointments for estimates and in showing up for the job on time. They were courteous and knowledgable. They explained every step of what they were going to do to my satisfaction. As they installed the project on the roof, they took pictures and video of what they were doing. They were relatively clean and also efficient. They remarked to me on how much they appreciated that I was prepared and that I had everything ready and how easy the job was going to be because of that. Now for the bad part and this really does upset me every day and multiple times every day. The fireplace is a focal point of the room. I wanted the wood stove to enhance that focal point, but it is now a detractor. It is not centered within the fireplace opening laterally, that is, from side to side. There is at least one inch greater space on the left side of the stove versus the right side and it is inescapably noticeable. It p*sses me off every time I look at the dadgum thing. They also left the job site before they leveled the stove. So they just weren't concerned at all it seems about the aesthetics of the final product. I called them back to the site soon after they left and fortunately they were still nearby having lunch so they came back right away. They did level the stove then, but told me there was nothing they could do about the centering of the stove because, "that's where the pipe came down." Now, I don't accept that. I may be ignorant of how this works, but I think it's because they didn't position the stove before they cut the hole in the shroud through which the pipe exits up into the chimney and they didn't want to take it all out and have to recut that shroud, reinstall it and reattach the pipe. If I'm wrong about that and they want to make a case about it that sounds logical, then I'm willing to void this review, but I really think that's what was going on. They just didn't want to deal with it. It was a quick easy job, they made some money on it and didn't want to cut into that profit by spending anymore time on it. I feel badly about writing something like this, but I've sat on these feelings for over a month in order to ensure that I'm not going off half-cocked. Additionally, I should add that when I called the company to report the problem, they told me they'd address it. I should have made more fuss when they came back, but I didn't, just accepting their excuse and not questioning it. The company never called me back to see if I was satisfied with the work. I called them one additional time about something completely unrelated and stated that I loved the stove, but was unhappy with it not being centered in the fireplace opening. They simply didn't say anything about it to me.

I finally got it done. They were not very responsive through Angie's list and so, I finally got them to call them to call me. I had used them before and they are good. It saved me a little money. I gave them an A for the service because they were fast, they were early. However, it took forever to get a hold of them.

Site visit review of all requested items (clean ducts, chimney interior, repair chimney crown) seemed
very positive. Representatives were informative, polite, responded well to questions.
We requested documentation for chemicals and insurances - which reps said was no problem.
No quote was ever delivered after the provider's site visit.
We emailed the provider on thru their website contact page.
We have not been recontacted by this provider.
Our recommendation - be careful when dealing with this provider - or - choose an alternate.

The services provided were top notch. Craftsmanship on the Tuck Pointing was perfect, clean and professional. Jordan's work was outstanding and I will definitely call this company again for any and all chimney needs in the future, including the installation of a new wood burning stove.

It went from a chimney that looked like it had multiple issues to something that looked like there was never anything wrong with it in the first place. You'd be hard pressed to decide how far up/down the chimney the point is where he didn't do work and where he did.

I had an old brick chimney that was deteriorating quickly. Many of the bricks were crumbling and falling apart. There were also white stains over much of the chimney. Being on the front of my house it was a big eye sore and quickly becoming a safety hazard.  I got Rocky's information from Angie's list and gave him a call. He came out the next Saturday for a free consultation and estimate. I could tell from the beginning that he knew his stuff. He explained that the bricks were spalling due to freeze and thaw cycles. Due to the cracked chimney cap, water was getting into the bricks and causing them to crumble and break off in sheets. This was also causing the ugly white stains. Unfortunately, my house is older and finding replacement bricks would be impossible. We decided my best option would be to do a stucco coat over the chimney. He quoted me a price on the spot and drew up a contract the next week and emailed it to me to review. He had several jobs lined up before me and told me it would be a few weeks. Sure enough a few weeks later he called me to advise he was ready to start that Monday.
The repairs consisted of screwing wire lathe to the whole chimney with mason screws and then applied two coats of stucco, giving adequate time to dry in between. He also chiseled off the old chimney cap and replaced with a  sloped concrete cap with sealant on top. The stucco color he used was a perfect match to the brick mortar on the rest of the house. The stucco looks fantastic --nicely squared on the corners with the traditional stucco pattern/design. The chimney looks great. Rocky was very professional and easy to work with. He did exactly as he promised with no problems at all and at a very reasonable price. I would recommend Rocky for any masonry work needed.
