    Franklin Woods Community Hospital
The staff is cooperative and helpful. They worked with me. At the end of your session, they put a hot pad on you and it feels absolutely marvelous. They sent me home with some rubber bands and instructions.

    The Wellness Center
They are great. I got physical therapy there for a meniscus tear on my knee and now we take the classes there. We do some exercises sitting, standing or against the wall. You move every joint in your body. We just love it. We have a wonderful Tai-Chi instructor. The classes there are not really large, so you kind of become a little family. I miss it when I don't go. The Wellness Center is a great asset to the city and to folks. They're all polite and courteous. They really make you feel like they have your best interest at heart. He showed me how to properly walk with a cane when I had the torn meniscus. They just go out of their way to do things like that. I've never had a problem getting an appointment there. They're spacious. The only criticism I have is where we do our classes. They painted the room dark gray. It should have been softer. All the mirrors and windows help, though. Both of the instructors are great. They say if they're doing something and feel pain, to stop, because it's a warning. They're good about that. If you have questions about something, they're good about showing you and helping you with how to do the exercises right. Us members are good about introducing ourselves to new members and making them feel welcome. When the front desk says, "Good morning" or "Glad to see you," you feel like they're sincere. They always acknowledge us and most of them know many of us by name. There's two pools, and one is heated.

    Watauga Orthopedics
On return visits, staff began to recognize me and called me by name. Their warmth and welcome made a very difficult experience at least less stressful.
Visits to the physical therapy department in the basement, which is easily accessed from the rear of the building, were punctuated by periodic trips to the MD in the floor above. An elevator would be a big help in inclement weather...
When I was declared healed and released, the doctor seemed as pleased as I was, and excited that we were successful, as was the PT staff. I got a trophy T-shirt that I wear to this day.

About a year and a half ago I went and had a CT scan on my right knee. I have arthritis in my hands and in my spine and I have degenerative disc disease and I have surgery on my left knee. Allen Allied Healthcare just did a test to see if I had rheumatoid arthritis and I don't have it. Probably I will have a CT scan again on my right knee because its a lot worse now than it was a year and a half ago. There is meniscus tear and there is cartilage that needs a trim. I have a Baker's cyst in the back of my knee but they cant do anything for. A year and a half to two years ago I used them because Dr. Grant said I need surgery on my right knee which I do but it took two years from my left knee to heal and I didn't want to put in that but I'm waiting now until after race weekend, we like NASCAR. I live about 20 minutes from Bristol track and my brother and my nephew are suppose to come for race week so after that if I'm able get through that then I will go see Dr. Grant again for the surgery and get it done. They've done an excellent job. His office staffs get a little snotty at times but I think its because they're overwork and they do the best they can. Staffs are friendly because they want the money first so you need to pay upfront. They actually have a walk-in clinic so if you're hurt you can go in, its 24/7. They have a big waiting room because like I said there are several doctors that works there. Dr. Grant specializes in hand and knees which a little put out with him because he didn't do much for my hands but I think he did all he could. Punctuality is good because you go in there and very rarely you have to wait more than maybe 5 or 10 minutes. Communication is good.

    Merrill, Dr. David
I was able to make an appointment within a week of calling. At the first appointment Dr. Merrill spent lots of time talking to me about about my medical history and showed genuine concern. The staff was also very friendly and helpful. He has been gently adjusting my spine and giving me great relief. His office also offers different therapies to help speed up your recovery. A great experience!

I do so see a chiropractor off and on. I haven't seen him in a few years, because he fixed me so well the last time. He was excellent. He is very good. I went relatively regularly over a year. He fixed me but good. I had used one where I used to live and I've got a friend that is a chiropractor. I've learned from him there's one particular school and the name of it where the person went that invented chiropractic medicine. Everybody that graduates from that school is great and everybody else is pretty questionable. So, when I moved here the guy that I had used before had gone to that school. So, when I got here and was in need of one, I pretty much went door to door and asked, "Did you go that school?" He went to that school. I would use him again in the future.
