Siding reviews in Johnson City

  • Showed up when he said he was going to. He did exactly what he said he was going to. My wife and I were very pleased with the end result. My house looked horrible and afterwards the siding the roof looked brand new.

  • Dennis and his crew arrived on time and went straight to work. They were very professional and their work was exceptional. They kept a clean job site during the couple of days they were here. Will definitely use them again and would highly recommend them to anybody needing any type of home improvements.

  • Better than expected. My husband and I have a vacation home in east TN. A friend who had previously had a roof completed by Weather Tamer referred us. We were in a hurry to travel back home and get everything settled so Mr. Howerton came out quickly and gave us an estimate on the spot. He was not only very professional, he was extremely nice. We discussed the time frame and he answered all of our questions. When the crews started on the roof we were very happy to see they cleaned up all the supplies and materials each day! The windows and siding make the old house look brand new. We are so pleased with the service and professionalism of this company! I highly recommend Weather Tamer to anyone in the area.

  • Owner Tyrone Mitchell was prompt and professional.  He had good suggestions and offered me options in different price ranges, which I appreciated.  He strikes me as an intelligent, honest individual who understands building design and construction from top to bottom.
Unfortunately, it was not Tyrone who performed the work.  His employees and the roofing subcontractors were careless pigs who damaged my property and left so much trash and building debris (which I had been assured by Tyrone would be completely removed) that 3 months after the completion of the job, I'm still picking it out!  So far I have found 55-60 nails, lots of cigarette butts (many cleverly buried in the flower beds), candy wrappers, used Band-Aids & gauze, orange roofing washers, old shingles, discarded ends of new wooden beams, and countless sharp pieces of aluminum.
For years I have treasured the rich soil beneath mature shrubs in my flower beds surrounding the house.  That precious humus is now contaminated with so much crap that I can no longer safely use it to enrich my vegetable gardens.  I can not walk barefoot in the yard, nor can I allow my 2 dogs to play without wondering if one of us will unknowingly step on some dangerous object hidden in the grass.
The glass is what's left of my former front porch light, which the workmen broke and then said nothing about.  When I noticed it, I told Tyrone, who reimbursed me for a new light fixture, which I made a special trip across town to pick up; he installed it at no extra cost.  Rather than removing sawdust, nails and other building debris from the front porch, it appears that his hired pigs simply swept it and the smaller pieces of broken glass into my mulched flower beds.  I've removed all the glass I could find, but from now on I'll have to wear gardening gloves (which I detest).
Then there was the damage inflicted on my >25 year old specimen shrub next to the front porch.  I had to prune at least 10 years' worth of broken branches from what used to be a beautiful Kalmia latifolia.  Although Tyrone knocked off $100 for the damage, I can't buy another mature plant for that.  Something that size can't be easily transplanted anyway.  Honestly, I feel sick every time I pull into my driveway and see the puny, lop-sided thing on display.
I would assume that whatever falling object crushed the shrub is what also chipped my front  porch.  Although it was not a showpiece before the work, the porch was so scratched and gouged afterward that I had to repaint it.  That's when I noticed that the edge of the concrete next to the shrub had a chunk broken off.
Bottom line:  I feel that Tyrone delegated too much to employees who lack his commitment to quality and who seem to be unconcerned about damaging other people's property.  And although I am pleased with the appearance of my house, the overall experience was quite disappointing.

  • I called Curtis for an inspection and quote, which he provided the very next day.  Although the start date was estimated at three weeks, he and his crew were able to complete the job only about a week after quoting, and finished in just over one half day.  He and his helpers were knowledgeable and professional in their work.  The house looks much better now.

  • They were very professional to deal with. Michael came out and quoted the job for specifically what I wanted done. Price was very good. The crew hanging the siding and trim took their time and paid attention to detail. Very satisfied with everything. Will use again.

  • We contracted with Champion to replace 11 windows with their double hung windows.  Champion had previously replaced 4 other double hung windows for us several years ago.
All of the Champion windows were to replace another brand of replacement windows.  Half of the other brand windows had fogged after about 10 years (depending on how much sun exposure).  The installer was no longer in business so the lifetime warranty was useless.
The price for the windows is a little on the high side, but since they have a lifetime warranty which is transferrable to the next owner, that makes a difference.  Also Champion is a large enough company that they will stand behind the warranty and still be in business in the future.
The work took about a day and a half.  The installers were very good and cleaned up after themselves.  The window sills tested positive for lead paint so they were compelled to lay down plastic and take extra precautions.  The aluminum flashing around the windows is excellent.  The installation was much better than the old windows and flashing.  The installers are independant contractors that just work for Champion, but they seem to have steady work.
The windows seal very well.  They reduce the noise also.
We had Champion do siding several years ago.  Again, the installer did a great job and we have had no problems.  In fact, the person that installed our siding and windows several years ago was the same as this time.

  • Very pleased with our experience with Chad Henry Construction from start (estimate and contract) to finish (completion of projects.)
During the construction projects Chad and his crew showed up in a timely manner each day and put in a full days work. In addition, we were pleased with the attention to detail and workmanship he and crew performed. Chad has good communication skills and informed me of any suggested minor changes along the way before performing them.

  • They did a great job with both the bathroom and screened in porch.  The bathroom was completed before the school year started, which I had requested.  The screened in porch is fantastic!  They did a great job with everything- extending the roof, moving gutters, insulating one wall and the ceiling, installing electrical outlets and ceiling fans, covering all exposed wood, putting up siding, and installing the tile floor.  All employees were pleasant and very careful about cleaning up every afternoon .There are several veterans working for the company.    If we decide to finish our basement, we will definitely call Mr. Fix-It.

  • I could NOT be more pleased with the entire project from beginning to end.  I was contacted every step of the way and informed who would be there each week to do their work. I was also informed of any delays necessary.  All of the workers were very professional and performed excellent work.. They were also friendly and helpful whenever I had any questions. They were there promptly each day ready to work and at the end of each day, they cleaned up their work areas and hauled away any material to be trashed.  I was very pleased to be able to add things to the project that I had originally forgoten.  This was not a problem and was handled in a prompt and professional manner.  I was also pleased to have various professionals give me suggstions on things I could do differently and they always added to my overall satisaction with the project.I am highly satisfied with every experience I have had during this project and would recomment Mr Fixit for any home project you might be considering.
