  • Firstly, I have to confess that I have never written a negative review in my life- not of a product or customer service experience, and definitely not of a company. But, after our experience with Camp Ruff-n-More I feel compelled to make a statement because our encounter was extremely disappointing and unprofessional. Since we moved to Johnson City last year, our dog has been an active and frequent visitor to "camp," both for daycare and extended boarding. Because he appeared to be happy after he visited (often tired from playing), we were willing to overlook the pungent smell of the facility, the overcrowding, and the unfriendly staff members. Unfortunately, at one point, our dog was even injured because the fence was short enough that it proved jumpable for mid-sized dogs. That should have been a sign. However, up until this week, every time our dog came home from Camp Ruff-n-More we were told that he "had fun" and "did good." So, we attempted to shrug off our complaints and move forward. But, the worst and final incident took place this week. A staff member, Alicia, asked that our dog not return to "camp," because he apparently got into two altercations with other dogs while they were entering/leaving the play area. I was shocked, disappointed, and confused to hear this, especially because the behavior was so out of character and unprecedented. We utilize the Johnson City Dog Park frequently and our dog has been boarded in numerous other facilities without incident. I took this charge very seriously, and wanted more information to pass along to our dog trainer. But when pressed, the staff member could provide no additional information- none. Apparently, our dog had been demonstrating "increasingly aggressive behavior" that proved concerning. This was news to me- there had been no mention of this during our frequent visits, no documentation, no phone calls, no specific information or examples. I will admit that the visit prior, Alicia off-handedly commented that he had "snapped" at a larger dog, but she did not express concern or "warn" us that the incident was problematic. The encounter seemed relatively normal. When I went to pick my dog up for the last time, I encountered further frustration and unhelpfulness- she "did not know" the answer to my questions because she "was not there" when it happened. After half a year of patronage, our dog was dismissed because of an incident for which there was no forewarning and without satisfactory explanation. I understand and appreciate the need for safety, but as a loyal customer and attentive dog owner, I also feel that the way the matter was handled, explained, and rationalized was unsatisfactory. Honestly, at this point, I am happy and relieved that we will no longer be using Camp Ruff-n-More. If you value honesty, knowledgeable pet care, friendliness, and professionalism- this is likely not the place for you or your dog.

  • Mighty fine. They were very nice to my puppy. He didn't seem as tramitized as with other salons. They evidently have moved because they are located in strip center on corner of Knob creek rd and sunset Drive. 1904 knob creek road 37604

  • Dr. Broyles is one of the sharpest people I have met. Ask a question about pet health and she answers in detail. She is wonderful with animals. Our little Silky is really ACTIVE and she handles him with ease. She gives him shots and he likes her. I highly recommend this clinic and Dr. Broyles. Ask for her. So glad we found this facility on Angie's List.

  • Dr Kapoor has always been great with our pets. He has taken care of our cats and dogs for the past 35 years and I have absolutely no complaints about the care. They seem to be a little high on price but since I haven't taken a pet to another vet for 35 years, I really don't have anything to compare it too.

  • You have to sit and wait, they don’t take appointments. The doctors are knowledgeable. For the service you get the processing is great so even if you have to wait it’s worth it. they are very accessible.

  • I described what I wanted and what I dont like. We discussed it. When I picked her up the groomer had done exactly what I DIDNT want. She said she thought it would look better. My dog is a Maltese and I almost cried that her beautiful long hair had been cut off. Wish now I had refused to pay.

  • I have been more than satisfied with the service of all the vets and staff (technicians, receptionists, boarding) at Cherokee for the past three years.  They have provided service for my pets from wellness/prevention to critical care and end of life needs.  I find them to provide clear explanations of options (empowering me to decide) and this is done in a respectful and compassionate manner when those decisions are difficult. Needs have spanned dog bite to heart and kidney issues to ear infection and pancreatitis, and have included outpatient to hospitalization care.  They have supported me in figuring out a nutritious home-cooked diet (vs canned) because I felt it was in the best interest of my dog with special needs. The boarding staff are caring and I know that if there is a question or concern they will phone me while I am away.  (I had no worries leaving my dog with them when she was in a delicate post-hospitalization period and needed to be monitored for returned symptoms.) When my dogs are excited to ENTER the building when we are in the parking lot, and when they enthusiastically greet boarding staff in the lobby, even when they are there for veterinary care, that tells me that they have good associations with Cherokee---and their opinion matters.  I have recommended Cherokee services to friends and will continue to do so.  When it counts, and when there have been crisis health needs, the veterinarians and staff have been there consistently for us.  I would not dream of changing providers.

  • awesome!  my big dog has a dense, wiry undercoat, very difficult to groom - and he doesn't like it either so he can be a handful.  they handled him without any problem and he likes going to April's!  (that's a first!)

my little dog is not a grooming fan either and always shakes and pants like he is about to die - again, April and staff handled his quirks, gave him a beautiful haircut and all without drama.

    love this place!

  • Dr. Lemarr is phenomenal. She obviously loves her job/patients. She's very thorough and compassionate. The techs are always friendly and loving toward our dogs as well.
I gave the cost a 'D', because I think vet care is very expensive. I still gave them an overall 'A', though, because I think that their cost is pretty much in line with others.

  • Barbara is a friendly, punctual and reliable pet sitter with a demonstrable love of animals.
She was a pleasure to work with and provided us status reports following each
visit w/ our pets. I certainly will call upon her again for future needs.
