    FERGUSON ANIMAL HOSPITAL
I'm a small hobby breeder (1 litter annually) that has 10 furry family members. We have had 3 or 4 dogs there in the past year. They always try to charge more than quoted. It's never because something came up and had to do more. They just price the invouce more than they originally quote. The first couple times I paid the larger amount and didn't say anything thinking I had misunderstood but made it a point to pay attention closely when they gave me prices from then on. The third visit they again tried to overcharge but I brought it to their attention and they begrudgingly corrected it. This last visit they said I was wrong and that wasn't the price the girl quoted. After the previous pricing problems with them I know what was said. If they quote some too high and some too low it's honest but if they quote everything too low it's probably quoted low on purpose. I have had no problems with the work. The quality of veterinary care is sufficient if they could figure out how to truthfully price their work up front it would be a nice office. As is I'm looking for another vet.

Horrible service Dr Cherry is a joke and shouldn't have his license he killed my best friend and him and his staff could care less. Buyer beware this place is garbage and should be shut down.

Being new to the area we wanted to meet & greet to be established in case our most important family member, Sam, ever needed emergency care, and of course, keep up with his routine care. He is a lab mix, approx 100lb 3 year old pup. We moved from SC, and Sam is having some adjustment issues, so this was a good time to see if we were a good fit. The front desk staff was amazing-very friendly and knowledgeable, which is very important to me. I felt the wait time was a little too long-animals aren't as patient as people, and you cant explain to a pet why you are sitting for a bit like you can a human-and I've never experienced that before-so just a thought there. The vet tech, Kristin, was very friendly, and Sam loved her immediately. Always a good sign! She was also very knowledgeable and able to answer many questions before the vet even came in, and Sam was disappointed when she left the room! Now to be fair, Jones Animal Hospital advertises as a small animal hospital, and Sam is 100lbs. So when I say the rooms are small, I am guessing they are made for small animals. I was a bit claustrophic, as was Sam. There was one spot that was big enough for him to lay down in, and that was it. A table and two seats, one counter with a sink-that was the rest of the room. Perhaps there are other rooms that are larger, but as I said, they are a small animal hospital. The vet, Dr Bodenhorst, was great with Sam, was available to answer all our questions, and when I mentioned Sam was having adjustment issues knew exactly who to recommend to help with those issues. That was a big relief, as in SC vets won't recommend trainers or behavioral specialists-you have to do the hunting and hope you find someone qualified yourself. Anyway-Dr. Bodenhorst was current on a new medication Sam had been on ( a previous visit at another place was not) and put our minds at ease about it. She ran a current blood test on him so we would have a new starting point on him, which I had wanted as well. At check out, my payment was taken in the room, and when the woman came back with my credit card, she came in, rushing towards me, hand coming up fast to hand me my card, and Sam was not having it-to him, she was coming at me to hurt me. He lunged and scared the dickens out of her. Fortunately my son had him on the leash and had control of him. I have given Jones Animal Hospital 100% A's, and I stand by that. They are a great place to be-but it was our first visit and that comes with getting to know the ins & outs. Sam can't be couped up in a small room for a long period of time like that, and you can't approach the owner of a dog quickly with a raised hand, I would think, in any situation-so payments must be taken out of the room for us. This is what would work for us. Sam is trained to protect me as I come from an abusive relationship, but I have had dogs all my life, and not one of my dogs would let a perceived threat come near me or another family member. On the other hand, as a responsible dog owner, we also know that keeping control of our animals is our responsibility, which is why we always keep our dogs on a leash when in public and are aware of our surroundings. It goes both ways. I highly recommend Jones Animal Hospital if you want people who will love your pets, do their best, and go out of their way for you and your loved one. Best of all, they are knowledgeable, so you are in good hands. Cost wise, I have no idea. To me, it is not the cost but the peace of mind that my pup is being taken care of appropriately that matters. And I feel this place will do that.

    Veterinary Medical Center
Terrible. I went to this clinic for the first time last month because it has a vet who advertises herself as an avian vet. I wanted a wing clipping on my Amazon parrot. Based on my experience, if you need a routine wing clipping on your bird, go somewhere else!!! I clearly described to the vet that I wanted a few feathers removed from each wing on an alternating basis to the point where if the bird took off, she could still glide to the ground. I definitely did not want an across-the-board cut-off. I also pointed out that the bird is missing one eye. When the vet was done and I walked in to get the bird, I about fell over when I saw the pile of feathers on the floor--about 24 of them! I felt so badly for the bird. When I got home, I inspected her wings and every single secondary wing feather had been cut off. This is a bird that can only see out of one eye and whose favorite perch is about 7 feet off the floor. She has no secondary wing feathers, whose primary function is gliding. I called a trusted parrot specialist in another state whom I know. He said he had never heard of this wing trim technique and he was uncertain if the parrot could glide on just her primary feathers. He said to take her someplace safe and test her out by getting her to fly. He said he was sorry that my bird had had this experience. Needless to say, I will never be back there for any bird care of any kind no matter how insignificant.

    CONTINENTAL BOARDING & DOGGIE DAYCARE
Great as always.  My dog LOVES their playcare and starts whining from the interstate exit ramp to their front door.   When I pick him up, he is so tired he goes right to sleep on the ride home.    When bathed, he comes back clean with no foo foo spray, as requested, and thoroughly rinsed.

    Elizabethton Veterinary Clinic
Arrived early but was seen within 2 minutes. Vet tech and Vet were very knowledgeable and did not seem rushed even though office was steadily busy. Love the fact that they have large dog bathing and spa services within office. Even big dogs need pampering!

We have 3 dogs so they are about $60 a piece. I would continue to use them in the future without a doubt.

    PRETTY PAWS DOG GROOMING
Everyone was very friendly when we dropped our dogs off and they listened to how we wanted the dogs groomed. Also, the grooming is in a big (very clean) room so we could see where our dogs would be.

Dr. Broyles is one of the sharpest people I have met. Ask a question about pet health and she answers in detail. She is wonderful with animals. Our little Silky is really ACTIVE and she handles him with ease. She gives him shots and he likes her. I highly recommend this clinic and Dr. Broyles. Ask for her. So glad we found this facility on Angie's List.
