As stated before , I had just purchased a home for myself . This is my first home and I'm proud to be the "Adulting" individual that I am today . I decided I would take this newfound sense of responsibility to the next level and have the locks changed on my new house because I'm a control freak . I like that the place where I lay my head at night and where I keep anything valuable that I own is now controlled solely by me . That is true until I regress from my "adulting" ways and give some girl a key to the kingdom at which point I may have to call Mark again. But that is neither here nor there . I was driving back to my old apartment dreading having to find a locksmith . I've worked with them before . They're always inconvenienced by having to come do a job or charge you punitively for even looking in the direction of your house . The other question is how to find one that is worth calling ? At this point , I was already frustrated because MLGW had played shadow games and had missed 2 appointments already . Just then , an orange Volkswagen Beetle pulled up next to me at the light. Low and behold it was a sign from God for there on the side of this "Bug" was a big key advertising a locksmith . Could it really be that easy ? I was certainly hoping so . I snapped a quick picture of the side of the car to save the number and made my way back to my apartment to call him . I called him shortly after and he was very courteous over the phone and agreed he could come by and do the job same day . No 2 hour window like comcast and no 4 hour window like MLGW . He told me a time and was there . Upon arrival , he was very professional and knowledgeable about his craft . He took a quick look around and then gave me his very reasonable prices and told me there was no trip fee as I didn't live in the middle of nowhere. We agreed to the work and he got started . It is at this point I made a small crack about his Beetle that he drives . He became very passionate about explaining that it was a diesel and therefor a "Man Bug" . All of that aside , he was very quick and very thorough . He checked all the locks multiple times to make sure they worked correctly and also made sure they all worked with one key . Apparently the previous owner liked having a big keychain because there was a different key for every door. Over all the service was great . He was prompt and reasonable and got the job done quickly . I would recommend Mark to anyone that needs locksmith service big or small .

    LOCK COPS Locksmiths
My parents are recovering from Heart Transplant complications, losing a job, vision, comprehension and loss of four months rental income from a lousy tenant. We've owned and grew up in this house since 1983, the year after it was built. Once we all moved out the house stayed rented and we enjoyed tremendously good history with responsible tenants up until the most recent one. The house was my dad's responsibility. He found and approved tenants as well as maintained the upkeep. He is now 'homebound' on doctor's orders and struggling with relearning to read and comprehend words so my mom and I are scrounging to address any and all things he had open to minimize life post Heart Transplant. On the day the tenant finally texted that they were out and the keys were on the kitchen counter I called Lock Cops for rekeying the 4 wood and 1 glass door. He said he could get there in an hour, then said he needed to first go to Bartlett and we agreed he would call me after so I could go back to work then meet him at the house at his convenience. Nearing 4:00 I had not heard anything so I called back. We agreed I would get the house unlocked for him that following morning but that I nor my mom could meet him as we both work full time. He worked on the locks and that evening, after work, my mom met his wife for the keys as she had to meet MLGW. She simply walked in and out the front door. The next day I tried the locks. The back door would not turn which also meant you were unable to access the locked glass door. The garage door wiggled from the deadbolt and also would not open. Each time I spoke with Lock Cops it took a very long time for him to explain his work. The first time I spoke with him he was condescending as to what he needed to know going into a rental house, which I completely understand the questions; however using the tone of assumption that I did not understand or was incapable of giving him the proper answers was inappropriate. The house was locked, alarm on and completely vacant. When I contacted him back to let him know the locks did not work, once again the call was lengthy trying to explain the work then finally he agreed to go back out. Sunday night at 9:30pm, and before he completed the work, his wife called to let me know they figured out how to take a Credit Card payment. I am a single mom with children and was asleep! When he returned our cousin was working on the toilets and let him in. While they both worked and made casual chit chat about the tenants who just moved out my cousin mentioned to him that when he was working on the yard while they were still living there that the husband would come out and start talking or that they pulled into the garage quickly and shut the door while he was outside working. Never did he say we thought they had come back and tried to break in or that the garage door stopped working. When I was told by Lock Cops that I was being charged another $80 on top of the already $211 for the faulty work he explained an elaborate break in story about the tenants and even had a suspicion about my cousin that he or they came back to the house, broke the garage door then broke the inside garage door and deadbolt to which they also somehow broke the back door through a very heavy glass door and as they left their attempted robbery they carefully locked the very heavy glass door back, left nothing out of place and no alarm sounded. He stated the locks on the inside had come apart. To this I was also told he was a retired investigator and this is what happened. There was no admission that the original work was faulty nor an apology as to having to pay twice for the same work. I was very upset as my mom and I already had our hands full with an eviction, and multiple factors surrounding my dad's medical and financial complications. I was very clearly and logically explaining to him that his 'break in' story did not add up to which he and his wife kept saying he was there for three hours (to which he left and got materials) and missed out on other calls. That is part of running a business and scheduling appropriately, not to mention performing quality work the first time. I told him all issued keys and garage door openers were all returned by the tenants and either me, my mom or cousin had all been in and out of the house everyday since they left. They used the evening between when my mom was there (until 7pm) and I returned to the house the next day as the time frame for the 'break in' attempt. It did not matter the ridiculousness in his story nor any professionalism in his work to admit he may have performed faulty work the initial day. My exhaustion with the entire conversation led me to plead for them to allow a half payment that week and the other half the next. They were incorrigible and I had wasted 30 minutes on the phone while at work already so I paid the entire amount to be done with it. It makes me sick to see the money it took for locks to be rekeyed and the fabricated story to explain away faulty services. They took advantage and even gave my personal cell number out to a random woman who walked up to the house stating she could not get me on the listed For Sale sign number. This woman called me 5 times while at work and in meetings. Why would you give out a cell number like that without authorization and especially if your entire fabricated story is based on an attempted break in?! I will not ever call Lock Cops and am disgusted at the nonchalance in making excuses for services paid.

Mr. James Green, CRL; was highly professional, courteous, and meticulous. He explained what he was seeing, recommending, and doing for our 92 y/o Mother's  home each step of the way. View Mr. Green more as a welcomed guest than just a phone call repairman. Just that pleased.

    POP-A-LOCK
I broke off the  key to my dead bolt to my back yard. I loved everything about them. They were prompt, and great. He wasn't here more than 30 minutes, and I got the discount for being an Angie's List member. He was very pleasant.

    POP-A-LOCK
I had called another provider first, and they to,d me it would be over an hour before they would send someone. I was trying to get on the road and it was hot outside. I did not have anywhere I could wait except outside. I called Pop-a-lock, and they sent someone right out.
The service person was very nice and patient. It took a while to unlock the door, but he got it open.

The only thing to know is that they do not take checks. I don't keep a lot of cash on hand and usually pay for in-home services with a check. So, I was a little surprised. But other than that, I have no complaints.
