    Alsobrook Vision Center
They're really good. I like Rick a lot. The staff is good also. The glasses I need are complicated -- multi-focus lenses. They got me into this type of glasses which work well for me. I typically wait less than 5 minutes to be seen when I arrive.

    Byrd, Dr. Kathryn W.
My daughter was having severe eye pain so I called a different pediatric ophthalmologist and found that we would have to wait a month before getting my daughter seen. Then I called Dr. Byrd's office and was pleasantly surprised when they could see my daughter the same day! Fortunately, we were able to quickly determine that my daughter's vision was not the problem for her eye pain.

    Freeman, Dr. James,
I had cataract surgeries 3 weeks apart for each eye. The surgery center is conveniently located within the same clinic building. The staff are excellent. Preoperative and postoperative instructions are well explained and printed for you. After research I realized the techniques Dr. Freeman uses are cutting edge, he is highly respected within our medical community, and he teaches other current and in-training ophthalmologists. The surgeries went well. I was at the surgery center for about 2 hours total for each surgery mostly preparing and recovering from the procedure. The surgery requires only about 15 minutes. Follow up visits were done the day after surgery and then followed as needed. You use daily drops including an antibiotic and steroid. A patch is used for a few nights to prevent rubbing your eye in your sleep. There was never any pain. I did wear a contact in one eye between the surgeries and the staff were very accommodating in helping me manage a contact lens for the first time. My vision is now excellent. The surgeries correct for distance vision and now I only need reading glasses to see up close.

    Meca Eye and Laser Center
I had the first apt - 8:00 am. I had to book it in early January to get an early appt. I arrived early at 7:50. My eye refraction was performed at 8:15 - not bad. But then I sat in the hall for an hour and a half until I asked at 9:45 when I would be seen. Things began to move along then and I was out by 10:00. I feel their scheduling and time management needs significant attention. I will go elsewhere next time. There are plenty of other options.

went well. thorough exam. all my questions were answered. My only concern was that the frames I wanted were not covered by my insurance (VSP) so I had to settle on other frames. I would suggest anyone contemplating this practice ask about that issue.
Glasses were expensive but good quality

    Mormon, Dr. Paul
I go to him for my eye tests and to get my contacts. He is very personable and a very good doctor. I have been going to him for about 3 years. I have been very happy with him. When giving you contacts, he will give you different types and let him know which ones you like best and fit you the best.

He has another doctor in his office as well which is Dr. Nelms. I was recently diagnosed with allergies and they caught it almost a year before because I had dry eye syndrome. I didn't believe them at first, but as time went on my eyes got dryer and dryer and the allergies started kicking in. They're incredible and thorough. Their technology is state of the art. I was out of town in Kansas City, Kansas and forgot to bring extra contacts and lost one. I found an eye care provider that I could go to in Kansas City and they faxed over the prescription. They're just awesome and I can't say enough about them. They call and follow-up. When it's time for your eye appointment they'll call and kind of remind you, so it's kind of nice for somebody that forgets things like that. They're 100% available all of the time and the office environment is wonderful.

Dr. Shum and his staff are the most curteous, professional and knowledgable team I have ever experianced. Dr. Shum really takes time explaining things. If you need glasses, Gina is the best there ever was! She is extremely helpful and honest, you will love the glasses you end up with if she helps you.

    Jones, Dr. Brent
I have being going to Dr Jones for several years and I am very satisfied. He and his staff explains everything that is going on and asks for your input. After the my eye exam I was able to chose a new pair of glasses within a few minutes without the hassle of going elsewhere. His staff was very knowledgeable about what my insurance would pay and they handled all of the claims.

He is just very personable and personably concerned for you. He makes sure you get the tests you need but doesn't go overboard. He is always very available. anytime you need him even if its a last minute problem.
