Appliance Repair reviews in Germantown

  • Doing everything in the kitchen was under my home warranty, but the appliances and everything were First American. We’ve had them replaced the microwave since then. The big major thing was in April of 2016. First American is our home maintenance. It’s for everything. I just call them out whenever I need them. They replaced my microwave and before that, they replaced my refrigerator. I think that is $51 a month. They cover every appliance in my house. You have a contract with them and for the contract, you pay whatever you agree, in my case it’s $51 a month. It covers every appliance, all the plumbing, all the electrical, everything. The air conditioning, heating, everything in my house is covered. Then every time you have a call, you pay a flat $65 vendor fee, that’s what another company did when they came out. That’s what anybody else gets when they come out. They’re paid by First American. Sometimes the quality is good, sometimes it’s bad, it just depends on what time of year it is. If you call in the air conditioning season, it’s not good, if you call other times it’s great. The quality in 2016 was super. On different times of the year, it varies on where the vendors are. It’s an on going thing. My problem started on Thanksgiving of 2015. They thought it was a leak, they sent a plumber out. The plumber said it wasn’t the leak; it was my ice maker on my refrigerator. They turned the water off to the ice maker. They told First American, First American sent out someone to look at the ice maker. The ice maker guy said, “no, it wasn’t the ice maker; it was the plumbing. First American sent the plumber back out again. All this went on for 4 or 5 months. In the meantime, it destroyed my kitchen floor, so that’s why my homeowners had to be brought in because it cracked all the tile in my kitchen. They replaced everything in the entire kitchen except the refrigerator which was the province of First American. Finally, they determined it indeed was something wrong with the refrigerator and it could not be fixed, and so they gave me a new refrigerator. So, I can’t tell you about the punctuality or the responsiveness. It took forever, 5 months. The professionalism has to do with I had 3 different professionals and one company was perfect and the other two were lousy, so I can’t judge that. The professional in First American in handling it was okay, but the vendors were a mess.

  • Have to use Greenway because of American Home Shield (another company I'm about to drop like a bad habit) ... Called Greenway about the clog, as they are the local contractor that AHS uses for almost everything. They came out ... left a mess ... *but*, they came on time and seemingly fixed the clog. Tech said he hit some roots and cleaned them out and all was well. THREE DAYS LATER ... and unfortunately, over a weekend, the same problem pops up. Called Greenway again. They came out ... send the *same tech* ... and this same tech hits MORE ROOTS (meaning he didn't do a thorough job the first time), cleared out the clog and left. Problem solved for a second time. ONE DAY AFTER THE SECOND VISIT ... same problem. Talked to the Customer Service Manager @ Greenway after hours and I genuinely get the feeling from her that they're gonna resolve this and make it right. I get a call from them @ 745AM the next morning (today) and she tells me that they're pretty much done with the problem. They won't warranty their work on this issue (her words, not mine). Then, I'm told the only solution is to let them come out and do $800-$1200 worth of work to install a "clean out" in our yard. Other than that, they're done. Nothing more they can do. So ... no camera to determine the shoddiness of the previous work. No new tech to go behind the one that had to take two trips to *not* fix the problem. No new nothing. Just a way for them to come out and make a huge cash grab on the money they lost on less than optimal work. I understand it's in their best interest to move on and cut bait. However, it's not my fault they choose to do business with a home warranty company. That being said, if a "clean out" is what's ultimately needed, I can guarantee you that Greenway will not be doing it for me, as I was less than impressed with their plumbing work on what seems to be a very simple issue. I will also be dropping AHS, as I am left with hours on the phone ... hours of frustration ... and $175 worth of "work" that fixed nothing. From here on out, I will choose my own plumber and probably break even. The American Home Shield "peace of mind" is a myth once you actually need them for anything. So, I'm out $175 at this point to STILL have a main sewer line clog ... and Greenway's answer isn't a different tech ... or a camera ... or an apology ... it's a $800-$1200 service call or nothing.

  • I called on a Tuesday, and I was told someone would return my call that day to schedule an appointment. I didn't receive a call on Tuesday. I called back on Wednesday, and a couple of hours later someone returned my call. We scheduled an appointment for that Friday between 10 and 11. By 11:15, no one had arrived at my house, and I hadn't received any calls indicating the technician was running late. I called the office, and a nice man said either he or the technician would call me right back to let me know what was going on. 15 minutes later, I still hadn't received a call, and the technician hadn't arrived at my house. I called the office back. The man in the office said the technician was "on his way". When I asked if "on his way" meant 10 minutes or an hour, he said he wasn't sure but that he'd find out. A couple of minutes later I received a call from the technician himself. The technician said he was "on his way" and should be at my house in 30 minutes at the most. He indicated he'd "had some trouble" that morning, listing off a couple of excuses. I told him that 30 minutes wouldn't be convenient because that would be more than an hour later than our scheduled time, to which he replied, "I told you I had some trouble this morning, sweetheart. Do you want to reschedule?" I let him know that I preferred to cancel since he was (1) very late, (2) didn't call me himself or have his office call to let me know he was running late and (3) condescendingly called me "sweetheart."

  • Burns Appliance did an outstanding job for us. Not only are they fast, but they are extremely courteous and professional. Also, the price for the repair was more than fair. I will definitely use and recommend Burns Appliance to family and friends.

  • JOHN IS AWESOME!  This is the first time I have used this company.  I think it is a one-man show and he is awesome.  I love small businesses where the guy that shows up is the actual owner.  He cares about his work and it showed.  He was at my house on time (actually a little early) and got right to business.  Diagnosed and fixed the problem and was out of here quickly.   Also, cleaned up any mess he made and allowed me time to clean behind and under my refrigerator while it was away from the wall to be repaired.  I WOULD DEFINITELY GIVE HIM A CALL BACK IN THE FUTURE!  THANKS JOHN!

  • Excellent provider.  I found Burns Appliance on Angie's list and used him based on the "A" rating and good reviews.  I received a near immediate response, and he was at my house the next day.  Very professional, very nice.  He evaluated my washing machine and then advised that the repair was cost prohibitive.  He gave good advice and I ended up buying a new washing machine.  The service visit was only $50.  Overall a good experience and I will call him for all future appliance repairs.

  • Very rarely, in some 50 years of home ownership, have I been
privileged to encounter the levels of technical knowledge and mechanical skill
I found personified in Burns Appliance Repair over the past two days.
I selected Burns based on information published by Angie?s
list and found the underlying facts to be more impressive than the
    narrative.  Rick ? the technician
involved -- quickly identified the problem late in Day One and completed
    repairs early in Day Two.
More importantly from my perspective, he demonstrated
in-depth knowledge as well as unusual talent in working with appliances of all
    kinds.  (After repairing a washing
machine, he took a few minutes to show me how to quickly remove an old bulb
from the interior of an oven ? a task that I?d had to call a repairman to
    handle some months earlier.
Burns Appliance Repair has become my vendor of choice in
    dealing with appliance repairs.

  • Ashley was very responsive and got the technician out the same day (most people I called wanted me to wait 4-5 days).  James came out right on time and spent over an hour making sure the machine worked properly.  Unfortunately it was one of those situations where the machine sporadically worked!

James did diagnostic tests and tried multiple things and got it working again.  He even called this morning to make sure everything was still good

    • We've used this company many times for repair on  appliances and ac work.  They were always professional and completely repaired our appliance or AC unit.
    • Their prices are on par or less than other companies.

  • I called and Rick was at my house in less then 15 minutes, he was in the area. He diagnosed the problem, gave me a quote of 230.00, and asked for a  go ahead to proceed, and  then ordered the part. He told me it would be in on Thursday evening and he would bring it by first thing Friday morning around 9:00. He showed up promptly a little before 9AM,fixed the dishwasher and  his quote was the price. He was professional, prompt, and priced right.  I will use him for all my appliances in the future. Thanks for a pleasant  experience.
