    Vanderbilt Hospital
I was very impressed with the ease of checking in for my outpatient
surgery and with the friendliness of the staff I encountered from the
time I was admitted until I was discharged. Everyone made sure that I
was comfortable and it made me feel good that all of the staff wanted to
make sure I was having the right surgical procedure done that I was
there for and that I understood what was going on every step of the
way. Vanderbilt seems to place great emphasis on good infection control
practices and they also have top-rated doctors (I loved the doctor who
did my surgery--she has great bedside manner and is very good at what
she does!), which is why Vanderbilt is my #1 choice in this area for all
    of my healthcare.

Absolutely the best place to have a baby. Our Baby was born early and in the NICU the first week. The nurses and physicians there are incredible and so helpful. Our entire experience there was great. Definitely recommend having your baby at Baptist or St Thomas Midtown as its called now. One note, if you owe the hospital anything, you can get a 15% discount if you pay everything up front.

They have a joint and spine center, and they have several little wings, and I think it has probably got 75 beds, and on that side of the wing, there are all private rooms. The nursing staff was very nice, very attentive and very compassionate. Their physical therapy team as well was very sweet, very compassionate, very knowledgeable and very nice. Their nursing techs were abundant, in other words, I never had to wait for a single minute. Every time I pushed my button, there was a nursing tech there to handle any needs that I could have like help to go to the bathroom and other things. Any little problem I had, they were always there for me, and they never hesitated. I had only one complaint about them that their TVs were really small. Their TVs were like 20 inches. Their nursing care was good, and the doctors did their rounds every single day and they were there when I was awake. I was having a problem with constipation and they helped me through it. It was such a great hospital for patient care, and the food wasn't bad either. I had to have my doctor put me on the kind of diet where I had a menu, and they had a kind of diet where I could have a menu and I could select what I wanted, and it was not bad. Everybody there was very nice, very compassionate and very attentive. The housekeeping person who adjusted the blinds for me or fixed something was good too and did all that I asked for.

I went to the emergency room for vomiting and diarrhea.  The Emergency room couldn't get it under control, so they checked me into the  hospital for five days to get rid of the virus.

We used them due to proximity.  It was the closest hospital.  In general we were very pleased with the service we received.  It wasn't a long wait.  The waiting room had been remodeled and was pleasant.

My son had two nurses once he was on the surgical orthopedic floor who were very caring and took great care of him. While they were caring for him, he could not possibly have received better care anywhere! However, overall, I was extremely disappointed in the care or lack thereof that he received. When he was brought to his room from the recovery room, he was literally crying with pain. Because I am a nurse myself, I asked the two nurses who brought him to the room what medicines he had been given in recovery. They stumbled around the question, and said she had given him a couple shots. Once they left, I asked my son what had happened in the recovery room, and he said there was only one other patient in the recovery room with him, but the nurses didn't pay him any attention at all until he literally screamed out and told them he was in agony! He said they were sitting near the foot of his bed, and they were just singing and acting silly amongst themselves. The last day he was there was a Sunday, and there were football games on TV. There was a male nurse caring for him, and a male tech as well. They had ball games on a TV in a nearby meeting room, and just couldn't seem to pull themselves away to take care of my son. We waiting twice for over an hour for pain meds to be given, when it was time for them to be given the first time he asked for them. We had to ask multiple times before he was finally given his meds. Then, when we got ready to leave the hospital, the technician brought in a youth size wheelchair...and my son is a big guy. It didn't even have foot pedals for him to prop his leg up with. He said he had "been all over the hospital". and that was all he could find. I told him that it simply would not work, and that surely in a big hospital SOMEWHERE they would have a full size wheelchair! In fact, they had brought one in the previous day for him to sit in. He seemed very irritated that I refused to use the small chair, and took so long that we finally did end up wheeling him out in that chair ourselves. When we got to the main lobby, there were 4 full size wheelchairs with foot props! The elevator was very close to his room, so all the tech would have had to do was go down 3 floors on the elevator to find a full size chair! I was very disappointed overall in the lack of care my son received, and would certainly think twice before I would ever encourage any of my family members to be admitted to this hospital.

They are very caring and everything went on well. I got seen pretty quickly. It didn?t take a long time in the emergency room. The doctor explained to me as to what he was doing and how long the process would take. Once it was over they gave me good instructions about how to keep the wound clean. They also told me as to when to come back to see the doctor again. I would use them again in the future, if needed.

It was a neurosurgery on the spine. The surgery went excellent. My recovery went great as well. The hospital was very clean. The nurses were professional and very friendly. The food was excellent, which you can't say about many hospitals.
