Hardwood Flooring reviews in Fairview

Real People ~ Real Reviews ~ Real Results

  • The sales person was on time and I got a quote quickly. The person I discussed the charges with over the phone was nice and helpful. I decided to go with R&S because they would remove the bathroom fixtures. I had a quote from another company who quoted the same price on the refinishing, but far less on the shoe molding. R&S states on their quote that they will try to match competing quotes, but when I asked about the shoe molding I was sent back to the sales person who never responded when I sent him my other quote. Still waiting for a response or the gift card they offer if they can't match a price. The project manager was an hour late to our pre walk meeting and I thought we decided what would be done on the job. His crew wanted to drastically change the stain color at the last minute, literally, and called me. they day they started the job Why they didn't' call the project manager, I don't know. We got it resolved but I didn't get exactly what I wanted on the color but it looked OK anyway. The day before they were scheduled to start, I got a call that the crew doing the work was gong on vacation and would start after the Memorial Day holiday. This pushed us back a few days and I had to contact R&S to reschedule the post walk which never happened since the project manager was not available. As was noted in another review, the project manager is not there when the job is going on and good luck getting him back out there after the work is done. No one called when the job was done - we don't live in this house and were preparing it to rent - we assumed the job was done, got to the house to find trash all over the yard, a giant muddy rut in my lawn where they had pulled their truck up to the front door, tape everywhere with do not enter at the front door. I called the project manager to ask if it was OK to enter the house - no answer. As noted in another review, the house was not put back together. I was missing door stops with just screws sticking out of the walls, the stove was pulled out of the wall and left, an over the toilet shelving unit was ripped out of the wall leaving holes in the drywall. The floor vent covers were scattered all over the house, we eventually found them all to place them back on the vents. The air had been left at 71 degrees, the last worker who installed the shoe molding never turned it back up. We ended up hauling the trash away ourselves since we were expecting tenants to arrive the next day. The baseboards in one room were chipped up which looked really awful. They didn't remove and replace all the shoe molding so there was a section which had white shoe molding while the rest was red oak. Very unprofessional. I raised these issues with the project manager and office manager and all I got was sorry and glad you were pleased with the job. The project manager never was able to schedule with my tenant and called me to let me know. I immediately contacted my tenant who said they had been in contact but no firm date scheduled. This would not have been an issue had R&S kept to the original schedule in the first place as I was supposed to do the post walk on May 30 but the job was not finished. I had tried to get them back out any day between May 31 thru June 2 but, the project manager did not have another appt available until the following week after our tenants moved in. The day the project manager called was the day they charged my credit card for completion of the job without my consent or even notification that my card was going to be charged. No one at R&S got my permission to charge my credit card nor did the project manager tell me they were going to close out the job without resolving the outstanding issues. My tenant called the project manager again and was told he had no available dates at this time. I guess since they have been paid, I won't see or hear from them again. I called the office and was told someone would call back, they never did. I sent emails with pictures of the issues, and to date, no one at R&S has contacted me about the open issues. Unfortunately, I paid a premium price for a really poor job and R&S doesn't seem to care.

  • Of course we find most of the people we need to do home projects on Angie's List so after reviewing the companies that would come out to our area, I decided to call Scott at Installer Direct.  It was also suggested by the store that we bought the flooring from, to call people on "their" list so I also called three other flooring installers. Most of them seemed in a hurry to get off of the phone and charged a few hundred dollars more to install the quarter round.  Scott's price was actually the lowest price and he trusted our measurements over the phone to get the price estimate, which frankly saved both of us time. Also, installing the quarter round was included in the cost of installing the flooring. The fact that he was not in a hurry and answered all of my questions, and that the quarter round was included with installation, were the main reasons we went with Installer Direct. Price was a factor in our decision of course, and we feel that the cost was very appropriate for the size of the job.  Scott was very flexible with available dates and fit us right in within less than two weeks. Plenty of time for us to pull up all of our existing carpet, padding and move three rooms of furniture.
The day of installation, no kidding, the whole crew was here exactly at 9:00 AM, which was the time Scott gave me when we set up the date. I am used to waiting around when I set up appointments so this was great. We knew right away that the job was going to go well as it was very easy to see that the whole crew had a system for every part of the job, start to finish. We are a huge do-it-yourself family so it was very hard to just sit back and let them do their job. We hadn't thought to remove all of the doors, and they would have none of us helping! I felt very spoiled  and out of my element not helping with any of the work! They worked non-stop, and asked any questions that they felt we needed to make a decision about and it was clear that customer satisfaction was number one with the whole crew. We had a few issues, totally on our end, and they gave fast, multiple solutions which made it very easy to make a decision. Everything turned out absolutely perfect and they finished in what I would call record time. The crew walked us through the rooms to make sure we were completely satisfied. They cleaned everything up so well that you would never know they were in the house. Everyone was very kind and professional.
We still need to have one more bedroom taken care of and, without question, we will call Installer Direct. You will get a fair price, excellent customer service, and a beautiful job on the installation. Please give them a call, you will not be disappointed!

  • I called Doug and the first thing he did was ask me questions to determine if his process would be what I needed to achieve our goal with the floors. Once we established that it was, he asked for a rough estimate of square footage, so that he could give me a rough estimate of the cost. These things saved us both a lot of time. Too many times you cannot get a "rough" estimate and the provider comes out, spending your time and theirs, only to give you a price too out of reach that you do not find agreeable. After he gave us the estimate, which was fine, he then came out and did a precise measure and gave us a final quote. At that point we set up a date just a few days later, to have the floor taken care of.
The entire process took around 6 hours for approximately 800 square feet of floor. Doug brought Quentin with him to take care of the job. Both men made sure anything that could possibly be damaged during the process was removed from the rooms, china plates on the wall in my case, and also cleaned up when they were done so that it didn't look like anyone had done any work. Although you can walk on the floor the same evening, we waited until the next morning. Our floors had a couple of challenging places but overall was in great condition. I called Doug that morning to ask about something that did not look right to me in a few areas. He came back out quickly and brought everything he might need to remedy the situation. No waiting to make another appointment. We were happy that what needed to be done to resolve the problem was done that very same day in just a couple hours and the result was a beautiful floor that looks brand new again. Doug stood behind his product and his work, which is rare these days to say the least. If you want someone to take care of your wood floors who is courteous, professional, and honest, Doug (Mr. Sandless) is who I recommend you call. If he doesn't think he can do your floor and make it beautiful, he won't take the job!!
