Tile Installation reviews in Eads

Horrible experience. I have never hired anyone so unprofessional and untalented. This guy claimed to be a lifelong tile contractor, but his work was thrown together and sloppy. He never showed up on time, and when I complained about the quality of the work, he got ugly with me and was rude to me in my own home. This guy scammed me. I have had to rehire a professional, licensed tile contractor to replace everything this con artist did in my home. He works with his girlfriend Teena Murray. Watch out for these two and avoid them.

    Premier Custom Homes & Remodeling
I hesitated to post tis review as I know Premier is capable of better work than was performed on our bathroom. Premier had previously built and installed custom bookcases in my den that are absolutely beautiful. So I asked them to bid on my bathroom remodel of a very small guest bath. The original cost came in a bit high so I was going to get separate contractor to do the plumbing, floor, etc. However, Mickey came back and gave us a better quote so it seemed Premier wanted to do the job. I got what I paid for this time. I purchased all materials except for bead board which I asked them to buy as was unsure how much we would need and no way to pick it up. Premier installed my tile floor and at completion there was a 1/8" gap between the floor and the baseboard. They attempted to correct this by using black silicone caulk that looked worse than the gap. The bead board they installed is pitted. There were gaps woodwork throughout the project. The painting they did was terrible including getting paint on my kitchen walls which had just been painted. I do not know why they took this job if they did not want it. I have read the great reviews by other users so I had confidence we would be happy. In the end I did not make the final payment of $600 and I ended up paying another contractor $1500 to fix all the problems. Highly disappointed.

I called for an estimate on bath remodel, got an answering machine.  I received a call at end of the day (missed).  I called back as directed using cell number, and was told he would call the following day to set up a time to come by.  Never heard from him again, unlike the other contractors I called.  Needless to say, I did not pursue. No idea how good the quality of work is, nor how reasonable an estimate might have been.  This is a rating based purely on follow-through (or should I say, lack thereof).

They reviewed the job and forgot/lost the work order. I called back and they found it, apologized and quickly provided and estimate. Estimate was fair. Trim carpentry was excellent and the craftsman actually mudded and painted some areas that were not part of the original agreement. He eanted the room to look perfect when he finished, and it did. The ceiling fan install was not easy and included a trip to the attic crawl space above during a 90 degree day. The mounting bracket was a special part, but the craftsman found it and made it work. Tile work was exceptionally well done and the craftsman saved me big on tile. I had exactly enough tile, but he couldn't break any or I'd have to order another box of an expensive 18" porcelain tile. Usually you hear to plan for 10% breakage, but he didn't break any tiles and the cuts were perfect. My only complaint is that the wrong color mortar was used on the brick ribbon around my back porch. I might have mentioned using "buff" mortar 3 times. Unfortunately, the mortar is a bright gray whereas everything else on my home is a light brown mortar. They told me they had too much time into the project already - and I agree that they probably did, however spending an extra hour to stain or cover the mortar to more closely match the existing would have yielded an A+ review. Now I have to do that, and it's something I just paid for... Recommend that homeowners purchase things like paint, mortar, grout and anything that needs to be an exact color or finish to deliver an aesthetically pleasing finished product. Also recommend that you review material receipts for things like saw blades, etc that won't be yours after the job. I found about $20 in materials that "technically" chould not have been on my final bill, but I paid them anyway because I was happy with the overall results. I really liked the craftsman, and have already provided 2 referrals.Great guy.

Sam Lester was one of four contractors that we had bid on the house. His price was the best price. He showed up exactly when he said he would for the estimates. He gave us an expected start date that coincided with his estimate of when the 'big box' would have our special order materials available. When the project was ready to start, Sam and his craftsman showed up on time and when we expected them. Sam gave us daily updates by phone summarizing progress and discussing issues as they arose. The job took a couple of days longer than expected due to issues, not Sam's fault. He simply adjusted and finished the job per our agreed to scope. The work was excellent, flawless in fact. Overall, Sam was an excellent contractor. His price was good, work was excellent, and he was a pleasure for both of us to work with.
