Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee has been a great insurance company, and we look foward to our future coverage thru them. We are charged a fair premium and have great coverage for doctor visits, specialists, hospital procedures, RX, dental, etc... We can choose our own doctors, pharmacy, hospitals, etc. We consider ourselves very blessed to have the policy that we have.

I have always had good dealings with BCBS. The claims process is easy and the few times there have been issues with providers, BCBS helped resolve them.

The premiums are great. This is a supplemental insurance with Medicare. Coverage is great and out of pocket expenses are minimal. When calling customer service a live person actually speaks with you and not a long waiting time.

I have never had a problem with BC/BS in any state. I appreciate their good customer service and benefits they provide. That said, no company can meet the entire population's need but I am happy for my policy and the coverage it provides.

I've had health insurance with a few different providers, and Blue Cross of Tennessee seems to be the easiest to work with on communication and approvals. As Insurance providers go, this is one of the best.

    Kaiser Permanente Insurance
They are a good company and I have used them for many years. They are convenient and have low co-pays. I have not had to find doctors for a long time, they know about me and I know about them. I have had good experiences with them. The staff is always very helpful, quick and precise about what I need. They take care of me really quick. Everybody there is very kind.

    Cigna - Tennessee
Cigna has been very good, if not the best, insurance plan I have had in my 25 years of having health care coverage through an employer. No referrals required and I don't ever have to deal directly with Cigna. Maybe that is why I like them?!?

    United Health Care
We've been pleased with the policy, and haven't had any issues with the coverage. Though we did have an excellent agent that did a good job explaining what was and wasn't covered going in, and what our financial responsibilities would be for common situations. Our direct interaction with UHC has been minimal, other than statements after an office visit. For a family that is primarily self-employed and paying for our own insurance, we've been happy with the value of the policy so far.

Due to the fact that my wife needs some recurring medical care that BCBST does not cover on it's premium plan there is no benefit to paying a higher premium for coverage. My employer offers an HSA contribution in addition to whatever I add so the high deductible plan is most cost efficient for us. Unfortunately that isn't saying a lot. There is a $2,500 individual deductible and $5,000 family deductible with the plan I'm on. Very little preventative care is covered beyond wellness checkups. But you get what you pay for I suppose. There are also numerous times when bills will come back a few weeks after a doctor visit where the actual amount covered by insurance was much lower than the predicted amount which has led to some bill shock. I'd rather have health insurance than not, but my personal experiences haven't been all that great. This could just primarily be because of the treatments my wife is needing.

    Cigna Health - Chattanooga
Cigna is my work-provided insurance carrier. Insurance payments have always been straightforward, the website is very useful, and it is simple to contact Cigna when needed. I visited a emergency room while traveling, and paid the co-pay as listed on the insurance card in late July. Six weeks later, I received a letter from Cigna informing me that the hospital was out-of-network, and that the hospital had billed $80 in excess of what Cigna would pay for the services provided. The letter clearly explained to contact Cigna if the hospital billed me the excess $80, and that Cigna was working directly with the hospital to reduce that amount to the standard rate. I appreciate the fact that Cigna didn't just leave it to me to argue against the $80 bill.
