    Energy Medic - Window Medic

Mr. Craig Janis was friendly, professional and extremely informative as he advised me of reasonable upgrades on my attic insulation as well as re-caulking all my windows. He found some issues outside the house, such as a small portion of wood rot and some critter chew that need my attention. I felt that he went above and beyond the call of duty as he was willing to discuss typical homeowner issues at great length and advised me on each subject I inquired.

I was very pleased with the service provided and also the professionalism.

I would recommend and use this company.

    Crawl Masters
With my minor standing water issue in my crawl space, Crawl Masters did not sell me what I didn't need and they didn't try to make my crawl space issue worse than it is, unlike the majority of the companies trying to get you to encapsulate and spend major money. Mark Brown at Crawl Masters was honest, efficient, productive, fair and beat any price in town. He removed and replaced the old poly liner and replaced it with a thicker poly liner and brought to the wall as well as wrapping the footer, also adding sand where needed. He installed vent wells and was careful to look out for irrigation lines so that he would not penetrate them. At the end of the day compared to 9 other mositure/pest control companies that estimated and evaluated my crawlspace, Mark Brown at Crawl Masters was above and beyond the rest. Not only should you take my word for it, you should see for yourself and give them a call - 757-617-1005. They have become my go to company for all my crawl space issues!

    Parker's Workshop
They are easy to contact. He always returns your phone calls, he looks at things very meticulously. He makes suggestions when you have something perhaps in your mind that is going to cost too much he gives lower price alternatives that are amazing, you just hadn't thought of them. They aren't  cheap fixes or band-aids or anything. He has a lot of integrity. I talked to the sub-contractors that he hired and he holds them to an extremely high standard that of course always ends with him. He will guarantee you will be satisfied. He is somebody that I would trust with a key to my house. I would also trust what his viewpoint was because he's not out to do the most expensive thing that you can do.

    Conway Services
I contacted Conway Services from the TVA energy evaluation list and Angie's List.  Shawn Watts was prompt for the appointment and complete in his estimate.  He offered me several options to improve my energy usage, and I chose the blown insulation.  The techs were very neat ....laying plastic from their first step in my door and putting on shoe covers.  I feel that they did an excellent job and the TVA inspector agreed with me on his inspection of their work.  Shawn Watts was very helpful in making sure that I had all the necessary paperwork signed to get my TVA refund amount. Overall, it was a very good experience.

    Energy Medic - Window Medic
We contacted the TVA through MLGW to audit our home for energy efficiency.  We thought it would help us spend our home improvement budget in a sensible way.  The representative from TVA-Energy Right Solutions came out and made suggestions and left us with a list of contractors.  We picked Craig Janus of Energy Medic/Window Medic.  Craig is a professional building analyst who takes time to explain all of the options available.  As homeowners we were pleased with the patience and professionalism that he showed.  The project took 3 full days.  Craig and his team arrived on time, cleaned up and really respected our home.  His team members were as courteous as Craig and just as hard working.   Craig generously shared his knowledge and expertise about energy, windows and general home repair.  He is well connected and has high standards so we feel confident that we can expect similar results from his recommendations.
Now for the even better news.  We have seen a noticeable change in our hvac use, bill and comfort level throughout the home.  For the last two months we have seen a noticeable decline in our MLGW bill compared to last year and the estimates for our home size. The additional insulation keeps the temperature more even throughout the house.  We could not be more pleased.  We know our energy efficiency rating will make a big difference when we sell our home.  This was an investment that was well worth it.  Not only do we have a more energy efficient home we also have a new "go to" person  for home repair questions and support.

    DuckWorx
Initially during the demolition faze, John did an OK job with the exception of not cleaning up after work each day.  Then while doing the demolition of the floors in one of the upstairs bathrooms he knocked holes in the ceiling of the downstairs dining room which had been completely renovated in an earlier renovation.  He was supposed to redo the entire bathrooms.  He could not do drywall correctly, could not paint well at all.  I had to fire him and bring in another sub-contractor to complete his work after he was fired because he could not do the work to a professional standard.  I had him re-do the painting in both bathrooms and it was again done poorly and I told him to do it again.  He called and told me that he didn't want to do it again.  That he was finished.  I immediately hired another contractor to fix his poor quality work and deducted that cost from the amount that I was to pay John.  He threatened me with suing me for the remainder of the money that I used to get the work finished professionally.  My attorney said to let him sue me and I relayed that information to him and he decided to not sue.  During the period of the renovations, almost a full year, I had used many sub contractors.  John was the worst one that I used and I would not ever use him again and never recommend him to anyone.  Prior to hiring John, I had him walk with me downstairs and look at the renovations that had been done downstairs.  He was extremely critical of the work that had been done downstairs and offered suggestions on how he would have done it to have made it better.  He talked like he knew how to do quality work.  "All talk and no walk!"  He was terrible!

The owner was very professional.  However, the cost to caulk around windows and not actually weatherstrip the windows themselves was extreme.

Craig and his crew were honest, efficient, and most of all, knowledgeable.  It was the well worth the money as our home is far more comfortable.
