    They did about a third of the work ( by the plumber) and wanted to take about 50% of the claim money. The initial plumber (subcontracted) did a good job. Dawkins did a lousy job and were claiming things they didn't do and misquoting square footage of things they didn't do. They delayed and were slow with the work and to respond. We have been in a hotel since December. I am using a different company to finish the project. I would never use this company again. The other contractor I am using had to go over the initial work.

    Absolutely no work was done. The provider told me the last time that we spoke, that he was no longer in the roofing business. I lost the entire amount of the coupon! I hired a separate contractor to do the job.

    Galloway's Construction and Pest Management
    Andrew showed up on time.  He is extermely polite and easy to get along with.  He assessed the house looking for entry points for rats.  He found several and took care of them.  He placed and baited traps both inside the attic and outside near the entry points he found. 
    The great part about Andrew is that in addition to the pest removal, he is also a general contractor so he could help with other issues around the house.  We were concerned that the dead rat was benind a built in bath tub and that we would have to tear out the wall to get to it.  Having someone that could both tear out the wall and repair it afterwards was a major consideration in my original choice to use Andrew.  I am very happy with my choice.
    Andrew's prices are not the cheapest out there.  But the timely attentive service he provided in my opinion is worth it.  I plan to keep using Andrew for various projects around my house.

    QE Restoration LLC
    In the beginning i was ecstatic by how well the roofing process was going. Linda (rep for QE) is very professional and made the transaction simple. she did all of the coordinating with my insurance company and I could not have been more pleased. The roofers arrived on time and worked quickly. the roof was completed in one day and debris cleaned from yard. HOWEVER the problems began two weeks later when we turned on our A/C unit for the first time of the summer. One of the units was blowing hot air. To make a very long story short, the roofers accidentally punctured the copper lines carrying the coolant for the A/C. They used very long nails ( attic space now looks like a torture chamber and we have to be very careful when walking in the attic not to get punctured on the head) that not only went through the roof, but also through the insulation around the pipes and all the way down to the pipes themselves. There were multiple punctures that drained the coolant from the lines and therefore caused the unit to blow hot air. Just to note, A/C coolant is VERY expensive and The unit was completely drained and had to be replenished. Here is where it gets interesting. When I contacted QE to inform them of what had happened, again Linda was wonderful. She was very understanding, apologized profusely and anxious to set things right. Things promptly went downhill from there. i was very bluntly told by Austin Cowell who manages this company that this is just very bad luck and happens sometimes and that it was my problem that my house wasn't built to code. Just to be clear, this man never set foot on my property, never saw my house, and has no idea about whether or not my house is properly built to code (which by the way, it is). Even after this happened he still made no effort to come to my home to investigate the situation for himself. I had to pay the HVAC repairman to fix the issue and I still have unrepaired gaping holes in the interior walls that had to be cut to find the leak and perform the repair. I finally did receive an email from Mr. Cowell stating he would agree to share PARTIAL cost of replacing coolant but the rest of it was MY PROBLEM and said it was my fault that my house wasn't built to code (just so u know both the HVAC and electrician both agreed this was clearly the fault of the roofing company and that the a/c pipes were properly installed and insulated). But Mr.Cowell wouldn't know this because he will no longer give me the time of day. I received a check from him in the mail a few days later for the partial payment and no further discussion will be had by him. His email was very dismissive and clearly stated he was done negotiating (there had been NO negotiations at this point) and this matter was resolved. I am glad it was resolved for him because it is certainly not resolved for me. The A/C now works fine again (after $880 repair!!!) BUT now I have to also pay to find repairmen for the gaping holes in the walls I STILL HAVE. On the up side the roof looks nice.

    Distinctive Homes was recommended to me by a general contractor. I called Butch to schedule an estimate. Two of his employees stopped by that same evening to look over the areas that needed work. The next day, I was sent a quote for the work. I agreed to the quote and was given a start date which would be during the next week. During the entire process, they kept me up-to-date about their progress and explained any delays (for example it took an extra day to track down some matching shingles). I am very happy with the end result. All of the employees were very polite and knowledgeable. I would certainly use them again.

    Hallmark Builders Inc
    In May of 2003, Hallmark began construction of our new home. In general during the construction process, it seemed to go pretty well. We received a certificate of occupancy on November of 2003and moved in mid month. Over the last 7 years, I have had roof leaks, replaced doors, windows/wood around the windows, cracks in the foundation that run for about 20 to 30 feet and a variety of other problems to numerous to mention. Recently, a soap dish fell from the wall in our seldom used guest bath. Behind the tile is plain ordinary drywall; no waterproof backer board, blue board or dry lock. I was told by code enforcement that this was not code. I used this information to file a complaint with the BBB. After the fact, SCCCE told me that there was no code for wet areas in residential homes even though they were able to give me a copy to use with my complaint. Long story short, I would not uase this builder again; nor would I recommend them.

    We started in the spring, ordered cabinets for one area that were to be in within 3 weeks. Nine weeks later they came in and were installed. They assured me that rarely happens and would not happen again. We had other construction going on so I waited until the fall to complete the bigger part of the bath remodel. I paid/ordered cabinets in October with plans to do all the prep work needed so when they came in again within 3 weeks, they could be installed. I called several times over the Holidays, they didn't start the prep work. January I heard back. We started the work in February, tearing out is quick and easy. They do not have in house workers, they sub-contract everything out, we're at the mercy of waiting for various workers to get around to doing what was needed. It's mid April and the work is not complete, they're not sure when the cabinets can be installed, they're waiting to hear back from an installer. They do not paint.
