    Ed Dalton Contracting

HIS WORK IS EXTREMELY SHODDY!!!  - As if he had not done bathroom work before.

1.The walls are not plumb, he used inferior cheap materials for the whole job - 2X4s were warped. etc

2.The toilet is not vented and is not properly hooked up.

3.The shower does not have a pan, therefore when the water was turned on, it went right through the floor into our basement.  The back of the shower measures 33" and the front where the door was to installed measures 36".

    4. the tiling in the shower is not lined up properly at all.

In the middle of June, he told my husband that he will not be finishing the work, but hired three fellows from "his crew" to finish what needs to be completed.  The following day , when they came out - they came across multiple issues that could not be taken care of or completed without having future issues/problems.  They could not/would not complete the work because of this as well as the fact that DALTON OWED THEM MONEY FROM A PREVIOUS JOB AND WHAT THEY TRIED TO DO AT MY HOME.

I called in another contractor from Angies List to get an estimate and look over the problem.  His quote included tearing down and building up the mess that Dalton installed.  $4895.00.  He said that he had never seen such shoddy work, and would not want to have his name attached to anything that might cause problems in the future.

Kitchen work:  he tiled the back splashes after a marble countertop was installed.  dalton said that the countertop had to be ordered through him - and he overcharged me $898.00.  He had called giving me a quote and said that they needed half down to get me on the list, final payment upon delivery.  Come to find out, he had payed the store $2,900 when I had paid him $3,466.  And he never once corrected the amount difference, nor did he give me a receipt.  Until I spoke with the store owner, asking if he has completed the work did I find out that he never paid the store the remaining amount due them and the store owner emailed to me the invoice for my countertops.

Bathroom shower door:  I had gone to Lowes to check on some shower doors, picked one out that I like and had a print out of the door - the company, id#, cost.  The fellow at the store said that it would take two weeks from date of order for me to get it.  I gave Dalton the information sheet, he said that it was taken care of the next day - - IT WASN'T ORDERED AT ALL!!  Two weeks later, Dalton come in with a box after he had said that he received a call to say that the door was in ready for pickup.  it sat in the bathroom for over a week until he left the job - the box was opened to find out that it was an inexpensive door from Home Depot for $107. (25"x64" framed pivot shower door in silver)  I HAD PRINTED OUT THE INFO ON - -  (Arizona Shower door, framless 36"x72" for $540) from Lowes.

    OK - right there:  countertop over charged $898 + shower door $433 = $1331

He had charged me $1300 & $977 and I never received an invoice for them.  I'm thinking that one of them might have been for the shower door, toilet and bathroom accessories - did receive the toilet, and the sick fixtures, but nothing else.
