Had someone come to the house to repair a leaking garbage disposal. Plumber spent less than 2 minutes looking at the disposal to say I needed an entirely new disposal and I should buy it myself rather than be upcharged by his company. I bought the disposal and installed it myself. Weeks later, I have a bill for over $80. When I called Porter Brothers, they were non-negotiable that this is the cost for the <10 minutes of service I received without any work done. Politely said I will need plumbing services again and would utilize their service at that time, the bill should go towards that. They lectured me on this being "Dickson". I will go with a different group, most HVAC companies in the area pair with plumbing and will offer bundled services. Just a couple more things: I live in a 24 year old house. I have spent about $10,000 on a new HVAC, gutters, and other fixes around the house, and certainly there will be more. I cannot believe that a "mom and pop" plumbing company is unwilling to see the forest through the trees and lose my future business for what amounted to a 15 minute drive for an estimate and no actual fix. Especially when they are not the only plumber in town. If the plumber had actually come prepared with a garbage disposal in his truck (knowing that's why he was here in the first place), I may have actually gotten charged for an actual service performed. Ridiculous.

The movers were supposed to deliver by no later than Thursday, 8/24/17; on Wednesday, 8/23/17 after hearing nothing, I contacted NorthStar to find out what time on 8/24/17 the movers would arrive. I was told at that time that the movers were running behind and they may not arrive until after Friday, 8/25/17 but that I would get a call daily with an update. On 8/24/17 I did not get a call, so on 8/25/17 I called NorthStar again. At that time I was told that the movers would not arrive until early the following week. On Monday, 8/28/17 I received a call from the mover telling me he was on his way and would be arriving the morning of Tuesday, 8/29/17. Upon arrival, the first thing the mover asked for was payment. Only two movers were there to unload. I had the AT&T repair arrive at the same time, so after giving the movers payment, they began unloading as I dealt with AT&T. I noticed that several boxes being brought in were destroyed. I tried to make the mover aware of the issues, but hes English wasnt very good and he didnt seem to understand my concern, and the other mover was on his phone; so, I contacted NorthStars main number and told them I would definitely have damages to report. I was told to call them back once everything was unloaded and they would direct me on how to handle the claim for damages. The one mover was not careful at all and kept hitting my walls (my house is a brand new custom-built home) and scuffing the stairwell. The second mover was friendly and competent and seemed concerned when I pointed out a few of the issues that I notice immediately and said that I would need to notify the main office. As they finished the unloading, one mover showed me that parts were missing/broken on the refrigerator door and that he could not reinstall it (NorthStar on the California end had taken the doors off of the refrigerator and packed it). As the movers were getting ready to leave, the one asked/told me to fill out a survey and then stood over me watching how I would rate them; I was completely uncomfortable and felt obligated to give a good review. Once the movers left, I went to look at the refrigerator (which is now taking up substantial space in my garage) and when I turned the door around I found a huge gouge in the interior of the door. The mover never even indicated that there was any damage other than the missing/broken hinge, and he had left the door against the wall with the interior not showing. There are also several small dings in the stainless steel and plastic portions of the refrigerator. Later that night when I went to look at other items, I found many broken/destroyed/damaged. The entire electronics unit of the elliptical machine had been ripped out and place in the mounting like there was nothing wrong with it. My neighbor stopped by to ask how things went and said that when the movers first opened the moving van he had looked in and that my boxes and containers were completely crushed; he said he knew there had to be substantial damage. In summary, this entire moving experience has been horrendous: 1. unacceptable delay in delivery of household goods with no notice 2. discovery of significant damage upon delivery of goods (rending many items a total loss) 3. unloading damage to a newly built custom home 4. insufficient labor for delivery and unloading 5. unprofessional delivery personnel (i.e. demanding payment upon arrival, hovering as I complete the review, not mentioning damage) just one mover was friendly and competent DAMAGE TO HOUSE: Stairway wall Hallway wall Stair tread Bonus room wall DAMAGE TO PERSONAL PROPERTY DURING MOVE: -LG refrigerator (door could not be put back on and the interior was destroyed; this was packed by NorthStar) and several dents and dings to the exterior -Destroyed neon light -Destroyed electronic panel on elliptical machine -Numerous broken glassware items -Cracked back of mirror (packed by NorthStar) -Hole in shelf (packed by NorthStar) -Destroyed bicycle tire and bent rim -Numerous boxes/storage containers were crushed/destroyed Per the terms of the contract, I was paid $100/day for each day they were late ($500) and the insurance only covers $0.60/pound for damages to personal property which doesn't even cover 10% of the cost to replacing/repairing the fridge and the elliptical!!! NorthStar did cover the cost of repairing the drywall damage to my brand new home.

They were awesome! Justin Ogle the operations manager came out with the tech! They were on time, work was completed in a timely manner, they were very professional and the price was more than fair. I will use no other company in the future for my Heating and air conditioning needs.

It took them about four days to get the part that we had been, we had to close our business for four days because it was too hot. They did this with our business. They have our home and I don't want them to do this with our home. It took almost two weeks to get the air conditioning in. Once they finally did it they did good.

In their defense they did come back out and did it again but I will never use them again. They just didn't do it right, they had to spray and it just wasn't done properly. I had two area rugs that they did that are still gummy with the, their work. It was not good at all.

It was a bit frustrating (with the frig not the service people) because we had to wait weeks for an appt the first time (yes, they are in that much demand !) . But we soon had the opportunity to make a recording and pinpointed , sort of, where it was coming from. We called them and waited another couple weeks for an appointment . The tech came out and literally took the entire refrigerator apart, looking for the sound and finally he came up with a thought (of course we could not recreate the sound while there) and did some work on the coils coming into the frig and said if the sound came back, we'd try again. It did not come back. He nailed it. I really love this company and their professionalism and tenacity. I have already recommended them to many folks. If you have an emergency......this is not the company. If you can wait a bit....the is the ONLY company.

Cut down 2 very large trees in our front yard. They removed the stumps and wood. They raked and cleaned the yard up to where it looked like they were never here. Very Professional. I am very pleased with the job they did for us!

Excellent workmanship,  on time for it all,  He is very skilled at what he does.  Cleaned up when the job was done.  Did a much better job that the original builders.    I will be using him again and again.  I highly recommend him.  the pricing was right on, I was given receipts for all new materials used.

We had one of the large appliance repair companies look at our 8 year old air conditioner and tell us it needed to be replaced. We came to Angie's List to find a second opinion. Midstate came out the day we called. They were able to repair the unit and inspected our other unit while they were here. The repair man did let us know that the same part was wearing out on our second unit, but we probably wouldn't need to replace it until next year. Honest and professional. Will use them again.

We received two quotes one of which was Hiller.  They were not the cheapest but matched the price of the other and actually delivered a few extras at no additional fee.  The work was done quickly and professionally.
