AFAIRMOUNT SERVICE STATIONIt it's We have used them for probably 35 years. We like the knowledge and the price. This past summer I had a problem with my car. I called Tim at Fairmount and he told me exactly what was wrong with it. He suggested a place to take it and told me how much it should cost me to get it fixed.- Suzanne D.

ACOWAN AUTOMOTIVEPerformed troubleshooting of electrical switches, wiring, solonoids, etc and found no issues. Noticed that someone had done work in the front axle and called for permission to investigate. Found that the dealership that had worked in that area a couple of months ago had installed a component inside the front axle backwards so the FWD would not engage. They provided a full diagram of the problem so I could collect the cost of the repair from the dealer. The FWD works properly after Cowan's installed the component correctly.

ACOWANS AUTOMOTIVEMy four wheel drive would not engage. It worked properly before repair work was done at the dealership. Cowan's checked all of the switches, motors, actuators and wiring and found no problem. They asked permission to go into the front axle. They had seen evidence that work had been performed in that area in the past few months. It had been by the dealer two months ago.
They found the dealer's mechanics had installed a lock collar backwards so the splines would not engage. They correctly reinstalled the parts, and gave me diagrams and a full description of the problem so I could return to the dealership that had done the work incorrectly and request reimbursement.

AJ R'S AUTO REPAIR & MUFFLERWe have been using them off and on for probably ten years. We would recommend them. He got really good customer service. He gets things done promptly like you can call him after lunch time, and he will have the vehicle done in a fair time most of the time. It is pretty rare for a mechanic shop.- william h.

ACENTRAL AUTO ELECTRICI had taken my van to two other mechanics to solve an electrical problem. Neither could figure it out. The electrician who owns Central found the problem by being very persistent. It turned out to be some of the wiring that goes through the firewall. It was like a challenge for him to find the problem-and he did!- Jim D.

AAll Pro Auto Electric & TiresMy experience with them was very good. I had an issue with my car and he was able to diagnose it. Rather than getting me a new part for it, he went ahead and found a place where I can get one from a salvage yard. So I was pleased that he did that and made it more affordable. He knew what he was doing and he explained the whole thing and got the problem solved.- Bob M.

ACOWANS AUTOMOTIVECowan's Automotive saved my daughter and son-in-law approximately $3500.
A shop in North Carolina, Charlotte area, had serviced their Jeep
Cherokee transmission. The transmission started acting up (slow
shifting, failure to shift into Overdrive, Service engine light on,
etc.) They took it to another shop in the Charlotte area, and were told
that they needed a new transmission, that theirs was about ready to fall
apart, and they could do it for only $4000 or so. I trailered their
Jeep Cherokee to Bristol to have it repaired. I took it to Cowans, and
Mr. Cowan said that while he was not a transmission guy, he could do
normal service and would check it out. He pulled the service code and
found it was for fluid bypassing a filter. He looked up the factory
service bulletins and found there is a common error made while
installing one of the two filters in the transmission. He then dug into
the transmission, found that it had been overfilled by 4 quarts by one
of the NC shops, one filter was incorrectly installed permitting fluid
to bypass the filter, and that the second filter had probably never been
changed. He installed factory fluid and filters per manufacturers
instructions. Six hundred (600+) plus miles later the transmission is
still behaving perfectly. He did indicate that the overfill and
incorrect filter installation performed in NC could have caused internal
transmission problems that will show up later.
A very large thanks to Cowans for saving daughter and son-in-law multiple thousands of dollars.
