    All Creatures Veterinary Hospital
Dean Falcon is an extraordinary vet who makes the owner and pet feel comfortable with service. His prices are competitive (cheaper) then most places in town for basic service because he cares about the community and desires people to give their pets the shots they need. My rabies shot was 12 dollars, the spay service for a one year old was 140 dollars and the appointments are only about 35 dollars. Vets are expensive but this one does his best to be accesible and take great care of your pet. I would argue better care then the crazy expensive clinics in town.

They're a very good veterinarian. We're very happy with them. They get me in for an appointment when I need it. They take very good care of my dogs and check them out. They diagnosed my dog with glaucoma in his eye, which another veterinarian was not able to diagnose. He did testing and knew what it was right away. They had to remove my dog's eye. They did everything they could. They've been good about it.

    Animal Clinic of Rapid City
The doctors in the emergency clinic are very responsive and caring. They are very knowledgable and have always given us all the information we need in order to take the best course of action for our elderly Great Dane. The whole staff always makes us feel like they really care about our pets and are very understanding of each situation.

    Rapid Spay
Was given info in advance before the altering.  Dr. Howard is extremely pleasant and helpful, obviously cares a great deal about animals.  She is the only low cost spay neuter for dogs and cats in the entire state of South Dakota, she believes so strongly in altering your pets that she does not have any income requirements.

They are so great there.  They are kind, caring, and so reasonably priced.  They've always been great and only provide the services you ask for or need, they don't add on extras that aren't really necessary.  They don't make you feel guilty for not doing extra services like other vets do.

We just recently moved to the area and brought our spoiled English Setter with us. He had excellent, caring and compassionate veterinary care where we previously lived, and we hoped to find something similar in Rapid City. Noah's Ark Veterinary Hospital seems to fit the bill.
When we first moved, we needed to get heartworm preventative for our pooch, and employees at Noah's Ark were very accommodating. They requested our boy's records from the previous veterinarian to spare us the trouble of bringing the dog in just so that he could have another box of his monthly preventative prescribed. We were able to just go in a couple days later at our convenience (and without the dog) and pick up the medication.
The second time, we took the dog in for his distemper vaccine, and everyone seemed caring and accommodating again. We were able to get an appointment on a Saturday, and when we arrived there, we were promptly ushered into an exam room. Dr. Susan showed up shortly after, gave the dog a complete exam even discussing some potential down-the-line concerns that we had, and administered the shot. She was very pleasant to talk to and seemed quite knowledgeable. Everybody else in the office was pleasant, friendly, and professional.
We will definitely be going back to Noah's Ark Veterinary Hospital as the need for veterinary care for our furry boy arises.

They're very wonderful. They're very gentle with my dog and they're very caring. They have very well-trained staff. Of course, I didn't have to wait very long which is nice. They have very efficient staff.

Dr. Troutman is a great person and vet. I've taken my animals there for several years now and adopted 2 kittens from her. Shes honest and upfront, and truly cares for the animals. Her office is more like a country vets office, so don't expect a large space or something like Dakota Hills. Very friendly staff, clean. I really have never had a bad experience there. The only negative is that she isn't open on weekends, but she is very good at returning calls if you leave a message. For example, I had somewhat of an emergency on a Friday night after she was closed, called, left a message but took my animal to another clinic that was open. Dr. Troutman called me back on Saturday, I explained, she was helpful and is doing the follow up care for my kitten.

Banfield Pet Hospital - Rapid City
My dog has been going to Banfield Pet Hospital ever since I adopted him from the shelter four years ago. The staff there is wonderful and they are very helpful in trying not to cause him any more anxiety than he already has. Both Dr. T**** and Dr. Dill are very thorough with their exams and handle him accordingly.

    Mountain View Animal Hospital
Going into this, we had used Mountain View for all our pets for years (since I was a little girl).  Dr. Johnson sold the clinic to the current owners and we continued to use them.  As an adult, I adopted a cat in 2000, continued to go to Mountain View.  I had no problems with the vet.  I had some issues with the cat, the vet suggested she was bored and needed a friend.  So I adopted another cat.  When I took the second cat (Dee) to Mountain View, they ran no tests, gave her a quick exam, gave her shots, said she was fine.  Later that night, she was limping.  Took her to another vet (Dakota Hills) on the suggestion of Mountain View via their answering machine.  Thought she hyper extended her leg.  Then she went to Mountain View to get spayed.  She came home, next morning, I thought she was dying.  I called Mountain View, they said call Dakota Hills if its an emergency.  I did.  Through the course of the day, they tried to talk to Mountain View, thinking maybe Dee had an allergic reaction to the sedative.  Mountain View was completely  unresponsive.  I called Mountain View, they refused to talk to me.  Dakota Hills needed all of Dee's records, Mountain View refused to give them to Dakota Hills (even with my written consent) or to me personally.  Eventually I got them, turns out, there is a test that should be run before cats are given a lukemia shot that was not administered to Dee.  She was testing positive, but DH said thats probably because she had the shot and is reading false positive (which turned out correct - she did not have lukemia, but she was tested for that and everything else under the sun).  All in all, I spent about $1000, Dee had to have fluid shots, antibiotic shots (and pills at home), had numerous tests and xrays done (that also revealed abuse), and all because Mountain View would not communicate after THEY performed the spay.  When I confronted them after all this, I got a "fill-in-the-blank" response letter where they misspelled my name and had incorrect animal information on it. Years later, people I dog sit for who used Mountain View, lost their dog because Mountain View did not perform a simple urine test that could have saved her life.  Instead, she died from something preventable.  They said point blank they will never use this vet again.   I know I will not.
