    Black Hills Fireplace analyzed the original wood burning fireplaces thoroughly and based on our desires reviewed with us the options available. The installation went well and they were very helpful in post install questions we had and to resolve any initial issues. We have had the gas fireplaces in our home over a year and are very pleased with the results we've experienced. I would recommend Black Hills Fireplace for anyone pursuing the installation of a new fireplace.

    Chip did the work quickly, completely and things were clean when he left. We liked him best when we were not here. He is boisterous and opinionated and while we agree politically, I felt like I was preached to. My wife WILL NOT be in the house when he's around, (women will understand what this means). I'm going to attempt another serviceman this time. He's done the work at least 7 times since we moved in here.

    Prior to visit there was discussion to  install $150 chimney cap.  I  tdecided against this option however he told person at my home that he would have given a discount if I had purchased a new cap.  With unloading and reloading his equipment and the cleaning, he was in my home 1 hour.  Wanted an additional $35 to put silicone sealant on bricks at top of chimney.  Quoted price in high $100's but charge was $233 with no additional service or additional purchases.

    Chip has done this almost yearly now for about 15 years. He is careful, clean, takes care with your house, we'll keep having him back. One downside - he talks SO MUCH and has very strong political opinions. I'd recommend having him in when you aren't at home. leave a check on the mantel and trust him to do his work.

    i picked out the fireplace that I thought would go well in the small apartments, providing beauty and warmth. I was delighted with the look, even though the price was somewhat higher than other heaters that would do the job. I bought 2, one for each apartment, and asked for a discount on a multiple purchase, which he supposedly gave me. He then hired someone to install them. The final price was WELL above the estimates, which I learned about after receiving the bill. The installation job was shoddy at best, leaving a gaping hole, and unfinished floors. The units passed inspection which I was happy to learn about from the city.

    This past saturday we woke up with no cool air and plans of having a full house/backyard for labor day weekend. Called around, checked here on angies lists and found Land M here in piedmont. I called and they were able to get here pretty quickly actually which was a relief as we had decided to proceed h*** or highwater, and it was already 85 degrees at like 10am, so it was lookin' like the former. Anyways, all told it took them about 30, 35 minutes to make some adjustments and run some tests and they had the AC purring and running better than ever. We were all pretty grateful.

    There were three calls on the problem of the and quot;check Ash Panand quot; on the screen. The first one (12/29/12) was to replace the springs and that was done ok.

    The next one (they did 2/21/13) was for the and quot;check Ash Panand quot; again. We had emailed them on January 7th with this error, basically 1 week after the first service call.

    I emailed again on 2/15/13 because the issue had not been addressed in over a Month. When they did the service finally on they stated that they cleaned the residue off the pot and replace a switch, which i am fine with.

    Then, almost 2 weeks later on 3/6, i emailed again with the same issue and quot;Check Ash Panand quot; and on the 3/12, they stated that they cleaned the residue from the pot again.

    I believe that if this was done properly on the 2/21 call, then there would not have had another call on 3/12, there has not been a problem since, but was billed $112 for the last call.

    In the 5 years of ownership of our pellet stove, we had never had an issue with this type of problem, so to think that it would have built up carbon in less than a month is hard to believe.

    As per the billing we charged you for repairing your pellet stove. Your question seems to be that the return to remove more carbon build sould have happend on first visit. The answer to this is that we had performed this origanally. On returning we redid this. The main cause we beleave is because of the excesive tension from the spings Quadrafire provided for replacement. As per now we haven't heard of any more problems.

    Chip was great. Provided a free inspection and explained in detail the services needed and the cost up front before any repairs were done. He worked on our schedule and was right on time, actually a few minutes early-didn't mind waiting for us to arrive. Afterwards he took the time to review a few safety pointers and how to get the most out of our fireplace. He loves to talk and share his life story, but it made the service much more personable.

    We were referred to this contractor by a local concrete block company. We were then given the estimate promptly in the fall, but weather did not permit the work to be done until spring. We called when the snow was all melted and the work was done promptly by Mike Kubal and his assistant. The work was done as specified in the estimate and the cost was as specified in the estimate. We did decide to have him paint the chimney at an additional agreed upon cost. We are very pleased with the results.
