Second time we've had Barton's over. Last year they installed a new garage heater, this year we had them do our annual furnace tune up. In the process, they recommended replacing a part we new was failing on our furnace, but previous estimates from another company was cost-prohibitive. Barton's replaced the part for considerably less, did it quickly, and now the furnace runs practically silent, verses the "warm up noise" it had been making. Very pleased; we'll have them back again!

Interior lighting and ceiliing fans installed professionally, and electrical sockets moved with no problems. After that, things went badly. Technician could not figure out how to run wiring from electrical panel to add three-way switch in garage to operate back yard lighting, and could not get support from supervisor. Several attempts to correct bar electrical (random tripping of GFI) resulted in less-than-satisfactory work that has bar electrical working, but now basement bathroom GFI trips randomly instead. None of the other requested work (garage heater, outside lighting) was attempted or even discussed. Two days after last visit, received bill for $2100. After complaining, technicians returned to work on basement bar electrical, (see above) and reduced bill to $2000 (deducted 3 man-hours). No further discussion of garage heater/outside lighting. Owners of company seem unconcerned about charging almost full price of original estimate, although more than half of work was not completed. Part of problem blamed on hour(s!) used to relocate two electrical outlets about 18" each. Poor clean-up after each visit (old electric parts left laying about, covers left off).

Rick's was an exemplary company to deal with. I had called 3 HVAC companies early on a Friday and left messages describing the problem and leaving our furnace model number with them. Only Rick's returned the call the same day. They were able to come out the same day but at a time at which I wouldn't be home. So we scheduled for Monday. Their employee arrived promptly. He was very professional, courteous and friendly. He had about 5 motors with him based on our model number but still none of them were quite right. So he had to run back into town and get one that would fit...our furnace is nearly 40 years old. The new motor was 4 speed instead of 3 like the original, so he had to add a capacitator, too. My only complaint is the new motor was made in China instead of the U.S. ...

The 40 amp contractor had to be replaced. Kevin knew right away what the trouble was. He had the part with him and just within 15 minutes or so he had the air conditioner running. He checked the thermostat to make sure that was working also. Thank you Kevin.

They installed a complete cooling and heating system.  They worked quickly and efficiently.  They removed an old fuel oil tank and even filled in the hole left in the outside wall from the pipe removal for the fuel oil.  They ended up having to come back a second day to finish the install due to the gas company not showing up on the scheduled day to inspect and turn on gas and didn't charge extra.  A week later I called them back to the house as I felt the furnace was making a noise that didn't sound right.  They inspected the entire system and found nothing wrong.  They charged me nothing for that trip and told me to call if I needed to.  I was very impressed with how well they cleaned up their mess.  It didn't look like anyone had even been in the basement or upstairs where the thermostat was installed.  No plaster dust, or spilled liquids, or foot prints anywhere.  If I had to do it all over again I would definitely call them again to do the install.  I haven't had any issues with the system they installed and have been very satisfied.

Repair man did a couple of checks and found that the filter was clogged due to excessive dust from remodel work being done. Gentleman has done work in our home before and both times was timely on arrival and in his work. He's very professional and nice. The company prices are reasonable and I will continue to call Rick's with all our HVAC needs.

Woke up Monday morning to find that my central air had stopped working overnight.  Called the number for Ralph's Heating and Air, and instead got Climate Control (apparently they bought the number from Ralph's).  I described the problem to them, and steps I had taken to attempt to resolve it (I checked the breakers, made sure battery's in thermostat were still good, etc), and they quoted a $89 service call fee.  I thought this was a bit high, but what was I to do.  They said they would have someone out as soon as possible, but they had quite a few calls today, as we were in the middle of the hottest and most humid week of the summer.  They did promise to get someone here today though.  They called at 11:15 to check to see if I was home, and were to my house within 10 minutes after that.  They quickly diagnosed the problem, and fixed the broken capacitor.  They also verified that there were no other problems (clean air filter, drain hose, coolant level, etc), and filled my coolant up.  Hans, the technician, explained everything that they were doing, gave me instructions on how to better clean by air conditioner, and gave me a detailed description of the bill and how much each portion cost.

Climate Control also gives several opportunities for discounts.  I received $10 off my bill just for putting one of their signs in my yard for a month.  Also they give gift certificates for  referrals, which I plan to take advantage.  They also offer a yearly maintenance plan, that I am considering taking advantage of.

Overall, I am extremely happy with the service I received.  I was caught off by the price, but I appreciated that they were upfront with that pricing as well.
