    Level-Up Masonry LLC
I must say that I couldn't have made a better choice in contractors. They arrived on time throughout the process. The crew was extremely courteous and their work was professional and very detailed oriented. I would not hesitate to do business again with them in the future.

    Joe's Concrete
It was actually a very small job for a front sidewalk coming into my driveway; he was very forthcoming and told me that for a job like that it would cost more to get the entire concrete in than the entire job would take. He told me it would take about $1200 for what isn?t even a full days? job, and I would have ended up spending more than the deal on just purchasing the concrete, and so I was grateful for how forthcoming he was about all of it. When I get ready for that bigger job, I?ll definitely contact him.

    Joe's Concrete
No doubt I will call Joe again if I have concrete work. I initially called Joe at 4:45 on a Wednesday afternoon. He came by that evening, looked over the job and gave me a bid on the spot. I liked Joe. I liked the bid. So, I gave him the work right then and there - it helped that he had so many positive reviews here and that his bid was a good bit less than I was afraid I'd be paying.
We had to wait until the following Tuesday for all the power, gas, phone & cable lines to be marked, but once that was done, demolition of the old driveway began immediately. They are a fast, friendly bunch. NOTE OF CAUTION: just because Time Warner has marked where they think their line is does not mean they got it right! They missed by about 15 feet, so my cable got cut... not Joe's fault.
People in other reviews have mentioned that you have to order the concrete. What happened with me was that Joe ordered the concrete and all I had to do was to give the concrete company my credit card number. That's fine, since Joe did not ask for any other up front money. I paid him the remainder of what I owed beyond the price of the concrete when the job was done.
Naturally, as soon as demolition was complete, we got the only storm we've had recently. That delayed the pouring of the concrete from Wednesday until the following Monday. Not much you can do at that point.
Concrete pouring took most of a morning and after a three day wait, I was able to drive down my smooth new driveway!
One thing you should monitor regarding the ordering of the concrete. As soon as I ordered it, a "pending charge" appeared on my online bank statement. The same charge was there after they delivered the concrete, so I based my payment to Joe (the fee he quoted me minus the cost of the concrete) on that charge. The next day, an additional concrete charge appeared. There was a small additional batch of concrete needed to finish the job that had been delivered but not charged until later. When I mentioned it to Joe, who didn't realize that I hadn't been originally charged for the full price of the concrete, he immediately offered me a refund from the check I had already given him. We worked out an alternative arrangement where he brought in some fill dirt and leveled out some areas that I would have had to do otherwise. That's one of the things I really like about Joe. There was never anything on paper. If something was different that we expected (and he explained everything quite well), then we just dealt with it.
    Use Joe. You'll be happy.

    Joe's Concrete
They showed up on time and started to work right away. It was a 2 man job with Joe and his partner. The partner seem to know his job and was very good. Joe made a lot of mistakes, like slicing my TV/Internet cable that was clearly uncovered on the ground. They did not remove any dirt they dug out for the concrete, but I did have a place to put it. I had a choice of having this massive concrete truck drive on my driveway and damage it or drive on the lawn or pay extra to have them haul it from the street. I chose to have them drive on the lawn. Now I have big truck tire tracks deep into my lawn and a cracked sidewalk. The concrete driver also poured too much concrete that they had to dump on my property. Joe also tried to charge me an extra $100 for some large tree routes they had to remove, which he knew about before starting the job. This turned out to be a 17ft x 20ft concrete pad and it took them about 7 hours to complete. Joe's Concrete was cheaper then the other estimates, but I'm paying more in the long run. I can not recommend and will not use Joe's Concrete again.

    Joe's Concrete

After we came to an agreement on the work to be done and a price, the go ahead was given.  Joe showed up the next morning with Kevin (He really knows his business and it was a pleasure watching his skill operating heavy equipment).  They began positioning equipment, marking out the area, removing some rather large roots (ALOT) and worked late to ensure they would be ready to concrete the next day.  One area we had to address was the additional pad - we had a LARGE pine tree removed in this site and the stump grinding did not remove sufficient material and became a minor obstacle for pad placement.  We discussed several options and between Joe and Kevin, a method was devised which allowed us to safely place the pad in the desired location.

They arrived on site the next day, with an additional person (did not get his name).  All began work immediately, performing final prep work and were ready when concrete truck arrived on site.  The pour went well (two deliveries) with no problems/issues.

We had moved into this home in June 13, knowing there were issues that required attention, with the driveway being one of my greatest concerns.  To say the least, it is a pleasure to see a very rugged mountain range (our driveway) transformed into a smooth concrete surface that will not beat us to death coming and going - or damage our vehicles!

Excellent work by highly skilled craftsman who obviously take great pride in their work and customer care.

I would not hesitate to recommend Joe or Kevin to anyone looking for quality and reasonable concrete work.

    LG Dirtbusters LLC
My first exposure to Loren was a little negative because I thought his estimate was too high.  I had a previous estimate for considerably less.  After listening to Loren as he detailed the work effort, I realized this job was bigger than the first contractor realized.  Some things he told me were necessary, since my yard is severely slanted down hill, made me realize that the first contractor had underestimated the job.  The first contractor also wanted half the money upfront.  I began to feel quite uneasy.  My wife and I discussed the bids and decided based on Loren's reputation that we would go with LG Dirtbusters.  Our experience turned out to be very positive.  Loren and his crew were very prompt and professional in every thing they did.  They worked meticulously, paying attention to detail, and gave me a beautiful driveway and retaining wall.  My neighbors are envious.  I highly recommend Loren and his guys for any concrete and, I believe, even asphalt needs you may have.  You will not regret hiring a true professional!

    SOUTHERN TEXTURES
My neighborhood association asked to get a bid from David Linette and his company, Southern Textures, on repairing some of our sidewalks.  The sidewalk was painted, and the paint was going to have to be removed in order to do the work.  However, the first quote we received simply neglected to include the extra cost of removing the paint.  The second quote adding in this cost was a little confusing, so I asked if Mr. Linette could meet me on site just to make sure that we had the same scope of work in mind.  We schedule a day and time to meet.  On the day of our meeting, after about 15 minutes had passed from the time that he and I had scheduled to meet, I telephoned Mr. Linette and he said that he had gone to the wrong place.  Inexplicably, Mr. Linette had gone to the office location for the management company hired by my neighborhood association, which is about a 20-25 minute drive away.  I said that I could not wait any longer that particular day and that we would have to reschedule.  instead of simply rescheduling, he became angry and very hostile over the telephone and said that he didn't want to do business with us (I don't understand what he was talking about) and then hung up the phone.  I called back to try to explain that I was merely a representative of the neighborhood association, and that if there had been some confusion with management company, then I wanted to apologize.  I was never able to even get those words out of my mouth, because Mr. Linette was too busy yelling, and then he hung up the telephone.  It was horribly inappropriate and unprofessional behavior.  I would not recommend doing business with anyone capable of acting that childishly over something so small.

    Standridge Masonry & Repair
Tony arrived at the agreed time to assess the job and ask questions. Within 24 hours he proided an estimate. I accepted his estimate and he provided a date to start. His crew of three and he arrived on the agreed date. After reviewing the job requirements, the crew did the necessary digging, compacting and placed the forms. They were very maticulas in ensuring the forms were square. The prep work took one day. The concrete was poured the next day. The concrtete was piped in without any problems or spillage. The pad was smoothed and expansion slots were created. The job was completed to perfection, as was the loose brick replacements.

    BRUNER'S CONCRETE CONSTRUCTION
David came right away and gave us a verbal estimate of what we wanted done in the front yard/driveway area. He also understood that we wanted it to look nice, and we settled on a price to remove both the old concrete, replace, as well as add the new areas. We originally did not think we could afford to have old concrete removed, we were just going to add new. He was able to schedule the work right away, although we were not necessarily in a hurry. He estimated 2 to 3 days; it ended up being only 2 days. He was unable to start on the original start date, due to a delay with dump truck contractor. But all the work was done, and finished within two days after the original date. Only concern I had was that he did not make a drawing or write down what we discussed. We did have to remind him of a few details when the forms were being built, and some minor changes were needed. Overall, it was a good experience.
