The final work is almost perfect. Couple small things in bathroom that I finished up. Negative was had to argue about a few things getting done right, which they did after I confronted David about it, took an absolute fight at times. Sent guys with no shop vac the first day to clean up mess so they used mine and I had to fight to get my vac replaced. My price went up by $800 that first day. AC trunk got crunched to halfway and as there was no pre or post inspection I had to argue about him taking responsibility, after 3 months of high power bills. it was fixed yesterday but I have to get under there and check it to make sure it was done right. And under my house is full of trash and debris that wasnt removed when they were done. The work itself was completed over about 2 months. Its a small bathroom and the only one in the house. But ithe bathroom is gorgeous and the floors are solid.

David did a great job managing the different crews. The work was done professionally. He and the workers were flexible with my changes. Everything stays in good repair through all the chaos of the different jobs getting done. Wouldve liked it done faster but these jobs have to be coordinated so I was still very happy.

Shawn is very easy to talk to and explains what he will be doing.  Showed up on time and called if he was running late.  He ran into several unexpected problems but was able to find an exceptable solution.  I already have Shawn lined up for future jobs.

The work was done well at a good price. He was very up front about the fact that the popcorn ceiling on the patch would not match our old popcorn. He was right -- the popcorn doesn't match, but that's fine, we expected it because he was honest and clear about it before he began the job.
The primary problem for us was getting him to come to do the work. The job only required three short visits, and could have been done in three days or less; but it lasted a month. He was very apologetic about the delays, but the fact remained that our living room was a mess for weeks. And unlike with the popcorn, we didn't know to expect this. He gave us no indication before starting the work that it would last a month -- to the contrary, he made it seem like a quick job.
In the end, he was so apologetic about the delays that he offered to do some extra work for us for free. When he finished the popcorn, he promised he would come by the next day to fix a small problem on our roof, for no charge. Keeping that promise would have gone a long way. But that was the last we heard of him. He didn't show up the next day, or the next month, and we never heard from him again.

We had a close hit by lightening and it fried one of the breakers in the panel.  Unfortunately it was a Saturday afternoon so we wondered what it would take to get someone out to fix it.  Called Decker and was advised the hours were Monday to Friday, but it then indicated to send a email message.  I went to their website and sent a message.  I received a phone call within 15 minutes from Jamie Decker.  He asked several questions so he could pick up the needed breaker before coming.  He arrived within an hour and fixed the panel.

John was great....I originally contacted 3 contractors off of Angie's list, and John's Workship was by far the most responsive, the most punctual, and the most comforting of the three.  In addition, he was slightly cheaper (~$100) in his estimate.
More important than the savings, what impressed me the most was John's communication and setting of expectations.  He kept me up to date on what was happening and what he was finding as the project progressed, and was always on time and followed through on his word....even when it became clear that the project was costing him more than he had originally planned.  I appreciate that he did not try to keep his profit margin by raising the price mid-project; which makes me extremely likely to use John's Workshop for future projects.
    The final services performed were:
    -Removing Tile from the shower
    -Laying new tile
    -Installing a proper shower pan
    -Installing new drain pipe
    -Repairing ceiling drywall
-Repairing misc cracks and "nail pops"  (numbering close to 50)
I will be using John again in the near future for some electrical work.

    UPDATE:
Everything went well at first, but after the job was completed and
John's workshop was paid, the shower started leaking again (which was
    the original issue).

It took a long time for John to come back out and look at the problem,
and it ended up never being fixed.  $1600 and 4 months since first
contact, I still have a leaking shower and a hole in my ceiling.

Joe came out to the house several weeks ago, and spent almost 2 hrs talking me through the issues I had with a leaky shower pan and damaged drywall. We also went through the rooms of the home, as I wanted a quote for painting the entire house (broken out by rooms, as I am not sure how much I can afford to have finished at one time).
I absolutely loved Joe, and appreciated the time he took to walk through my projects and give advice, and I actually feel bad leaving a negative review. The issue is that after 4 weeks, and multiple follow-up emails, I cannot get a quote for any of the work. I was really looking forward to giving Joe my business, and am disappointed that I will not have that opportunity.

*Update: Joe contacted me and provided an estimate which was lower than one competitor and higher than another for both general contracting and painting.

John Farmer's estimates and perfomance was very pofessional. Our project started with just the front porch but we were so impressed with the quality and work ethic that our project grew into a major renovation.

When John started the first bathroom floor, he found that the toilet was never seated correctly and that steel screws were used instead of brass and the steel screws were rusting. He corrected the toilet situation and did a great job on the tiles. When John started the second bathroom floor he found the second toilet was not seated correctly and had been leaking. A large part of the bathroom floor had to be completely replaced as well as the insulation beneath the house. Of course, this job was more complicated and took longer than expected and John worked thru the weekend to get it completed. He also fixed the stove vent that was never correctly attached to the wall and cleaned the air-conditioning coils. We are very pleased with the look of our new bathroom floors, John did a great job. We found John to be very knowledgeable, honest and professional. We are vey happy to know John and will definately use him for all our home improvement projects.
