    Valentine Painting
Until now, we've never had any luck finding painters that are dependable and knowledgeable. Many only provide the labor: they can use a brush but have no expertise and are unable (or unwilling) to guide you on the proper prepping and materials needed to do the job correctly. Others are undependable: they constantly delay the start date, don't show up when schedule, don't return to fix mistakes, etc. Jim Valentine, the owner of Valentine Painting, was professional and promptly answered all my questions. He was very knowledgeable about the proper materials and work needed to do the job properly. This was a big job and I wanted to make sure it was done right so it would last. I was concerned because some of the wood on the siding and deck was recently replaced while the rest was old. He guided me on all the different type of stains and paints needed to properly protect the exterior: the cedar siding on the house used one type of stain, gutters and garage doors needed a paint for metals, the foundation needed a paint for cement, the window trim, fence and shutters used other paints and the deck, porch and walkway areas needed yet a different type of stain. Although Jim was more expensive than some of the other bids, I felt I was paying for the expertise. Valentine's price was higher than the small companies/individual painters. However, many of those bids did not include the paint/stain in the quote and they said they "would do whatever prepping treatment I wanted" and would "paint with whatever I picked out." If I was a paint expert, that might have been fine. But I am not! Conversely, Valentine's price was slightly lower than the quote I received from one of the national, franchise paint companies and Jim was much more responsive. The paint crew (Noah, Elmer and Jennifer) did a great job and were pleasant to work with. Noah (the foreman) seemed to be genuinely concerned that the work was performed to our satisfaction. They completed the job well before my required completion date. In the past, we've put off painting projects because we always dread trying to find someone. Next time, I will call Valentine Painting first.

    You-Name-It Handyman and Carpentry Services
We ended up going with a different company simply due to cost. Mike was very professional, got back to me in a timely manner, and showed up on time (a lot of contractors are lacking those skills these days). Although I didn't use him this time, I would definitely check with him again when I need work done.

    Dula Construction Company Inc
Very well, we had a short time line to get repairs done, however I had used Dula in the past and knew I could rely on the quality of their work. Happy with the result, thought one minor repair was a little costly but nothing too out of whack.

    Skye Tech Exteriors LLC
I'd first like to say I am writing this review because I did a lot of research online and met with many owners. Skye Tech was really only in the mix because they were already in the neighborhood. After all the work had been completed I asked why he didn't have a positive online presence and he told me very directly that most companies that do good work are to busy to worry about online reviews and that word of mouth and seeing with your own eyes work done in your neighborhood always wins out. He looks very young but is extremely knowledgeable. I was initially approached by a salesman his name is chris but the owner Madison is really the person that makes this company special. I can't believe I almost overlooked them.

    Stonehaven Remodeling Services
We hired Stonehaven to replace a window. Here's a brief summary of the problems. - We agreed to pay half up front, they charged in full. - They never communicated with us. Stacy (the manager) said he'd call me in two weeks, I called him 3.5 weeks later to get the work kicked off. All communication with the company was initiated by me. - We asked to have some water damaged drywall replaced. I stayed home from work to meet the drywall guy for three no shows. When I called a week after the second no show to get an update Stacy told me he forgot. - They billed $250 for the drywall work, but when they finally sent a guy, they only sent him to mud over the problem area. - They broke several pieces of vinyl outside, when I politely pointed it out to Stacy I got a surprisingly rude attitude in response, but they eventually did replace the siding. - The only thing we asked for was a refund of the $250 for the drywall work that wasn't done. They refused, citing man hour costs and minimum billing. - There were a few more negligible items, i.e. handfuls of nails left in the yard and poorly caulked window on the inside. We were hoping to use them again next year for a $20,000+ master bathroom remodel, but we will be steering clear.

    Champion Services Inc
It went very well. The two men who came were courteous and professional, explained what needed to be done, which included first removing part of the siding, replacing the corners and re-installing the siding. They quickly performed the work, made sure we were happy with the result and cleaned up after themselves. I'd recommend this company to anyone needing this kind of repair.

    Handyman At Hand
All told, we had a good experience with Ed and his helper (sorry, I don't recall his name).  We had to play a little bit of back and forth because of bad weather but that was expected.  Arrived on time.  Started the job and tried to work with what I had originally provided for the siding but he was honest and let me know that it wasn't going to work.  He went the extra mile and helped track down the correct parts need and soon after I ran to the other side of Charlotte to purchase (which ended up costing less than the half than bad pieces I purchased at Lowe's and can't take back), they finished the siding repair (2 corner pieces).  Job looks good.
I would recommend them as they are very professional and do good work and will use them again if the occasion arises.

    Finishing Touches Construction
It was a little slow getting a response from him at first.  However, I got several estimates and they were all hard to get a response from.  I think it is just because they are swamped right now.  Once we had the appointment scheduled for the estimate, things went smoothly.  He was very responsive and very friendly.  He knew I needed the job done quickly and he did so.  Everything looks great!  He will be my go to handyman in the future!

    Affordable Siding & Windows
The price quoted was also better than the insurance estimate and another vendor.    They started installing the wrong soffit but agreed to replace it with the right soffit.  They did a great job.

    Renoir Restoration
Everything went very well from start to finish and we couldn't be happier with the results of the work done.
We will most definitely be utilizing Renoir Restoration for future projects such as siding repair/replacement, roofing, gutter work, etc.
