    My last visit was fine; I have been going there for a while. Last year I had to have emergency surgery and I had all kinds of medicine that I had to get while I recovered. When I was back on my feet I went to the pharmacy. The young man, the pharmacist, explained to me that I had been overcharged for, probably, about 10 of my prescriptions over the last couple of months because of the way the insurance had been changed. He went back on his own, not at my request since I was unaware of any of this, and refigured more than 10 prescriptions. He reconfigured it and gave me the money back. I was very impressed when he did that. He went to the trouble to research it and to correct the situation for me. That's called the extra mile for sure.

    It is hard to do reviews of health insurance companies. But, I would say overall there premiums are reasonable as health insurance premiums go. When you review their coverage manual, it seems very straightforward with what is and what is not covered. However, sometimes what I would consider very routine things, are not deemed to be and quot;covered servicesand quot; so there are definitely unexpected out-of-pocket costs that do not seem to count towards the deductible. I had cysts on my ovary that needed to be removed per my doctor. The doctor tried to shrink the cyst, or have it go away with medicine as a treatment option, which would have eliminated the need of surgery had this more conservative treatment option worked. The way to see if it worked was to do an ultrasound. First, for the doctor to get an idea of how large the cyst was and its exact location, and secondly to see if the medicine worked in getting rid of it. Blue Cross did not cover either ultrasound, and they were about $300 each (done twice).
    I don't know of anyone though that does not have some complaints about their insurance company.

    The staff when checking into the hospital is friendly and very efficient.  When I came in for surgery, they actually took me back early. When I came in for an ER visit, they took me back right away with no wait time, and I saw a doctor quickly to triage the medical issues I was having.  The facility is very clean, and the staff is attentive.  I feel like the staff really listens and isn't just trying to push you out the door.  Both experiences I have had have been good. When I went to the ER, they did not even come back for my billing information until after I had started treatment, and my medical issue was under control. It was nice to feel like they were trying to help me, and it wasn't just all about money.

    I try to do as much communicating as possible with BCBS through the internet. You can log on to your account and get most of the information you need. If by chance you need further explanation of charges and you have to call customer service, it can be a frustrating experience. The agents are normally very polite and helpful, but you have to go through to many prompts to actually get to speak to a real person. Once you get to a person, none of the information you have previously provided is passed along so you get to start over.
    The plan needs to provide more preventative coverage! An annual physical is not covered. If you are over 18, no immunizations are covered. On the positive side, it's widely accepted.
