    The Shaggy Dog
    Willene did a great job. Our boy is a 98 lb Native American Indian dog with a long double coat. He was overdue for a grooming and looks fantastic. She furminated alot of his coat out so he looks and feels much better. We really appreciated that she took him early so she could get started on him and had him back in good time. Her fees were very reasonable and facility is pleasant and clean. We will use Willene again and highly recommend!

    It was a much better alternative than other local veterinarians. They interact wonderfully with my pet; the cat doesn’t have a problem. No animal likes to go to the doctor. I made an appointment, drop the cat off in the morning and they told me to be back at 4:00. I showed up at a quarter to 4:00 and the cat was ready. That was the first time I had used them. The best thing is that you can call them up and make an appointment. They are not good for emergency services, but for routine cat maintenance, for lack of a better term. You can’t beat them.

    Dog Gone Hairy - Mobile Grooming
    Laura has love and patience and excellence in her grooming business. She is great with all dogs (she use to do my 6 Yorkies and even got them all to sit together for a photo shoot. I have that in a frame my whole family of fur-buddies and am very thankful for it, as they have all deceased now. She is out going, friendly and treats your pets as if they were her pets. She takes the stress out of having to drop your pets off as she comes right to your house and no caging. I highly recommend Dog Gone Hairy Pups to everyone who wants the best for their family fur-buddy.

    The Sunrise Animal Hospital is a good one. We moved and so we had to find a vet and some people were already familiar with the vet and recommended it, and so I did go and I'm also liking going there. Steve Cohen is the veterinarian. They just were really exceptional on price and then service and friendliness. That's a good vet in the Taylors, South Carolina area. I'm paying $280 and that was really good. Previously, I was paying $400 plus to get my dog's teeth cleaned. That was like $450 the last time. So, the average of 400 bucks at the other vet and this guy is $280, so it's really good, and that was with anesthesia. He also has good reviews if you go online. He himself cleaned the teeth instead of a dental tech. At other place, you don't meet the dental tech. You don't know if you get the vet there's a whole cleaning, but this guy did. So, I like that aspect of it also.

    The last visit was a simple nail trim - quick and they were able to work us in right away. We have taken our dog there for several visits over the past couple of years. They have given her vaccinations and treated for a loss of appetite.The vets and techs are friendly and knowledgeable and seemed to really care about our dog. There was a long wait time for the vet to come into the room, even though we had an appointment. That was ok because they didn't rush through our examination either. I like the fact they have hours on weekends that most private vets don't. These appointments seem to fill up fast so call a couple of weeks ahead at the latest to schedule for a weekend.

    I have one word on how it went....TERRIBLE. I have so many negatives that I could say against this man but I'm going to just say that he is beyond retirement age, will suggest to give your pet a little 'Rock n Rye'....(HARD LIQUOR!) when they are in pain and feed them a canned green bean diet if they are a bit overweight. He can't even read an X-RAY! The new Vet specialist at Upstate Vet Specialists, Dr. Kate Margailt even said "I'm not impressed with his x-rays" in other words that meant they weren't good views and I paid for not only one set of X-rays on the 1st visit but paid again on the fourth visit for another set and they put my dog under on the 2nd round.

    I could go on and on over how upset I was over the amount of money I shelled out over a 5 month period all the while my poor dog was suffering and I was having to carry him out the door, down the stairs and back up for him to go out to potty. I asked this man on the 2nd visit about a possible 'referral' to the specialists clinic, which by the way is directly across the street from his office, but I was more or less ignored. On my 3rd visit I again asked 'maybe it's time Diego seen the orthopedic specialist Dr. Creel" he more or less ignored my request for this referral until our 4TH and final visit by which time I was going to DEMAND that he give it to us or I was going to refuse to allow them to slide my credit card through their machine for their $150 visit fee one more time. Happy to report that with 2 visits and a round of oral steroid medication my dog is doing much better and I spent a third of what I DONATED to Creel's office. I am upset for being taken advantage of and have every right to be. I am a 50+ year old disabled divorcee who doesn't have a big monthly income. Anyone who has to get by on SS disability will know exactly what I'm talking about. And let me also mention that during this five month period of having to carry my dog up and down the steps to use the bathroom I took a hard fall with him one morning that knocked the breath out of me, scraped up my knee and elbow and set my already bad back off.


    I would like to inform everyone not to bother with the South Carolina department of licensing and regulations board. I filed a formal complaint and received a letter to day in which it stated that " Pursuant to South Carolina law, the Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation investigated the initial complaint you filed. After the investigation was complete, the matter was presented to the Investigative Review Committee, which includes an attorney and member of the profession. The recommendations from the Investigative Review Committee were forwarded to the Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners. At it's most recent meeting, the Board ordered the initial complaint to be dismissed, but please be assured that during the investigation your concerns were discussed with the licensee (Dr. Wayne Creel).     So, in other words folks don't bother seeking any legal help in SC when it comes to negligent veterinarian care or help in trying to obtain any of your hundreds of dollars basically given to said vet because you will be wasting your time, they take care of their own.  My only request was that I felt I should have been reimbursed the final payment of $181 on that 4th and final visit and felt he should have seen it from my point of view that if he had felt he had spent hundreds of dollars but his pet was still suffering don't you think he would have liked to have obtained a couple of hundred of that back to put towards the next $300 that was spent seeking appropriate care that did HELP my dog at the Upstate Vet Specialists office. It all boils down to this....he seen how much I loved my dog and he seen easy target for $$$$ in his pocket. No doubt in my mind about that.


    If anyone would like to know any further details about my issue with Haywood Road Animal Hospital/Dr. Wayne Creel feel free to contact me as I can give you an ear full on why I would not recommend that you seek care for your dog with him.     And for the record Dr. Creel was never able to make a diagnosis as to what was wrong with my dog. I had suggested that it might be hip dysplasia as it's a pretty common ailment in chi's but the Orthopedic vet specialist seemed to think the problem was his elbow on the back left leg. One visit, one two week round of oral steroid medication and he was totally out of pain and almost good as new again. Thank God for Dr. Kate Margalit DVM and Upstate Veterinary Specialists. I just wish they did not require that you be referred to their office by your regular veterinarian. If that had been the case we would have never had to go through this horrible ordeal they we were put through. What should have cost around $250 ended up costing me not only $850 but a lot of my sanity and even worse watching my dog suffer while I felt helpless to do anything for him.

    My dogs annual vaccinations were due in a week or less. I specifically told the groomers and the appointment clerk and took the proof of prior vaccinations. They all said it was fine. I personally met the groomer who was supposed to know how to hand strip. The groomers obviously waited until late in the afternoon to start my dogs grooming. Rather strip them when they were dirty, they washed the dogs, contrary to my instructions. I told them I would wash the dogs myself. The dogs were not ready until 5:30 or later that evening. As soon as I saw them I was furious. Norwich Terriers are not supposed to be scissor cut. I could tell by looking at them they were not even groomed by the same groomer as one was cut across her hanging sides like a "skirt" trim. The other was probably stripped on her sides with a grooming rake. A rake cuts the hair with razor sides within the rake. This dog has a redish coat and, other than her hair being cut when it is not supposed to be, she looked stupid because the redish tips on her sides were cut off and her back was wide stripe of red hair, like a skunk strip. 
    I had a fit. I asked for my bills and then hit the ceiling more. They charged me the maximum for the grooming and they also charged me for giving my dogs Bordetella vaccine. I am guessing but I would assume they waited until so late in the day to groom the dogs they didn't want to call me and ask my permission to give them the vaccine. The woman who seemed to be in charge was indignant and called for one of the employees to pull my vet records I had come in with. She pointed to the annual expiration date coming up the next week. I told I was quite aware of the expiration date and told her I had pointed it out to the employees. She insisted that they had to give them the vaccine because it was their policy to only accept dogs for grooming or boarding with the dogs vaccinated for kennel cough every six months. I demanded to speak to the vet in charge of the office to complain about them vaccinating my dogs without calling me to ask my permission. She insisted the vets were completely separate from the grooming business. 
    I intended to pay and then later try to take further action against the groomers just so I could get out of there at that point. I could see this arrogant woman would never cooperate by letting me talk to the person in charge. She wanted me to think she was the only one in charge of the grooming. When I said I wanted to pay so I could get out of there she told me they were not going to charge me. I insisted that she write on each of the bills that there was no charge for the services so that she could not come back on me later saying I had walked out without paying. 
    I fully intended to find out who was the head of this business so that I could detail what happened but I never did. In this difficult economy I didn't want to be responsible for possibly getting someone fired. I discussed it with my new vet the next week when I went to get the remainder of their annual shots. By the way, the woman who referred me to the groomer for hand stripping told me not to take my dogs to this office for anything other than the grooming. She did not explain why but she said she was a former employee of this vet's office. I heard one of the employees say they had had more than 100 dogs boarding the previous weekend because it was a holiday period. If they were so concerned about Kennel Cough, giving my dogs vaccines late in the day would have probably been too late if my dogs were already infected. None-the-less, there is no reason anyone should have medicated my dogs without calling my cell phone first to get my permission. AND THE GROOMING WAS NOT DONE BY THE PERSON I SPECIFICALLY REQUESTED AND THE GROOMING WAS NOT PROPER OR COMPLETE!
    I would never go to this business again!

    They're pretty good. They seemed to overreact to his nervousness. They actually took him to the emergency room because he got nervous and was trying to scratch the side of the cage so they thought he had injuries. They have people on-site overnight and that's one of the reasons we liked them. They're pretty responsive.

    We had a very good experience, except that they can be hard to reach by phone. The first time I called to make an appointment, I was on hold for ten minutes before getting an answer. Not sure if that is normal for them.

    Being new to the area, I chose this groomer based on one person's advise.
    My initial impression of the store front was that it was run down, and when I walked in there was a definite smell of mildew. I should have walked away, I know. But I'd made an appointment and I didn't know anyone else in town.
    After dropping off my dogs early in the morning for my appointment I waited all day for them to call me to pick them up. I finally called them after six hours, but they weren't done yet. And this was with an appointment! After almost eight hours they finally called me.
    My labrador was clean and calm, so no problem there. But the cut on the Maltese was awful -- choppy and uneven, with some places almost shaved and others just hacked up. By that time I wasn't interested in pointing out the bad job, I just wanted to take my furkids home.
    Never again!
