Pediatric Care reviews in Summerville

    Palmetto Primary Care Phys
They have been not just been thorough and personal. They just never felt that they were taking time with you. You rarely waited forever and then when you go back there it was short and sweet. Everybody told me something different in that office, it's like you see four or five people and you will hear something different by every single person. I quit using them and we actually will start to call someone else now which also got his information from Angie's List. It was always clean and nicely touched but it was very impersonal. The last time we went the doctor is on vacation. So we were seen by a different doctor. They kept telling me that my son's shots were not up to date. I gave them the records of his shots from our previous doctor and my previous doctor said that it was up to date and that you cannot give him shots before the surgery or he could have a bad reaction. My son will have a surgery and he needs the check up before the surgery. But then the doctors at the Palmetto were insisting that they will not proceed with the surgery unless they gave him more shots.

Dr. Clifford is amazing. He not only asked how things are going with my daughter, but how I'm doing as a new mom. We drive about 45 minutes to his office, and we will continue to do so because of the ability he has to put our minds at ease.

    Coastal Pediatric Associates
I love the fact that Coastal has 2 offices and one stays open on Sat and one on Sunday
Coastal has been very hit and miss for us. At times, we get great help, more information than we can process, and have no issues. Other times, we are seen and the person seeing us is very vague, won't diagnose anything, sends us to the ER because they say they can't do what we need, and it's very difficult.
I understand this could be related to an individual but I see this as an issue in the practice that should have some consistency with how they treat patients.
To be honest, we've been sent from Coastal Peds to the ER 3 times since April for things they can't handle. We should have just gone to the ER initially and saved ourselves the scheduling/waiting game at the practice. We couldn't even tell you who our doctor is and when people ask, we don't know what to say. We have seen most staff here and I'm sure a handful of them know us by name now.
I think the reason we continue to come is that we DO occasionally have wonderful experiences and the ease of continuing with someone that has all of your records (and the pain in the neck it is to switch pediatricians) and knows you balances out the occasional issues we have here.

    Sweet Grass Pediatrics
We go to Sweetgrass often. Their office location is convenient. Their staff is friendly. We see Dr. Kelly Rodgers and Dr. Benjamin "Benjie" Rodgers; they do pediatric sports medicine and orthopedics. We chose them because of the pediatricians that work there. We have had of a long relationship with them. That is how we chose their office. You can get in and out pretty quickly. Their staff is nice.

We arrived for our appointment (Orangeburg Road location) and were taken back to the exam room about 20-30 minutes after our scheduled time. I have never been impressed by the front office staff or the medical assistants and this time was no different. That being said, I really do like Dr. Rodgers. He was very thorough and went ahead and ordered an x-ray of my daughter's ankle to make sure that is was only a sprain and not fractured. He has a very calm and gentle disposition, which is much appreciated and needed with a rambunctious 5 year-old! In addition, I believe he went above and beyond, because he even called us at home that evening to check in to see how my child was doing.
If I were only rating Dr. Rodgers, my rating would be higher. The office staff is another story, which is a shame because some of the employees really detract from this practice.

******Update as of 9/13/12******* Just returned from their office and it was an entirely different experience! The particular staff members that I had previously encountered were either out of the office or are no longer working there. Everyone that I encountered this time was very friendly! MUCH better experience!!!********

    Oakbrook Pediatrics
I would give the doctors an A but the staff really varies by the day as far as how responsive they are; it depends on how busy they are. Typically it is okay. I can't give them a glowing rating but they are okay. It's a pretty good office and I like the variety of experience and doctors that they have there. The doctor I use, Mary Tillman, has a good bedside manner. She does a good job at relating to the kids, especially my daughter. The nurses are usually pretty nice too. The office staff can sometimes be overworked and a little brusque but overall it is a decent pediatricians' office.

Office was dark and not very inviting. The day we were there it was crowded and very busy. It took a very long time to be seen and when we were the doctors seemed rushed and didn't seem overly concerned with our child.
