Tire Buying And Repair reviews in Summerville

  • It's really hit or miss depending on the location and who is working that day.. I walked in at 2 o'clock in the afternoon looking to have a tire repaired and I was told to come back the next day. That seems ridiculous to me. I went down the street to their competitor and got it done right away. I have used them many tumes before and sometimes the service is really good and other times I want to scream and wonder why I even bother to go back .

  • My brother , a service member, flew in for a visit. He took our car there because we told him there was a very slow leak on 1 tire. After 2 1/2 hours, they told him all done, no charge. A week later, and each week since, we have to add air. Thanks for wasting his precious free time. I took it to a different shop and they showed me a bent nail that was in sidewall. How could they miss it? By not bothering to look.

  • Awesome experience with Morrison Automotive. I am a person who repairs my vehicles myself when I have the time and tools to do so. So when my 2007 Silverado 6.6L Diesel had a lot of electrical problems and I didn't have the computer to program the new modules Morrison was the only shop in the Charleston, SC area that I found that would program the ABS module and Airbag module that I ordered online and brought to them.

    Electrical Problem Synopsis:

I had an ABS light, Emergency Brake light, Service Trailer Braking System message, Service Airbag System message, Check Engine Light, and my DIC port for scan tools had no power.

I was personally able to get the Check Engine Light to go off by replacing all my bad Glow plugs which I new 3 were bad from testing with a Multimeter. I found a bad fuse that was causing the no power to the DIC port. (Not before accidently pulling one of the two Airbag fuses that set the code for servicing the air bag system because of low voltage detected) I was told when I got new tires a couple of months earlier that I needed a new wheel bearing on the driver side because they could not get it to align very easy and that the hub had some of play. Figuring this was why my ABS system lights were on because of a wheel speed sensor error which I have seen a previous vehicles in the past as well and the truck was due for new Upper, Lower ball joints, Outer tie rods, I replaced all of them myself as well as the Wheel bearing hub assemblies. This did not fix ABS so I tried scanning with a Scan tool for ABS now that my DIC port was working and had a failure to communicate with ABS module error. I then had to take it to the Dealer (I hate going to the overpriced dealer) for a diagnosis. The dealer took 7 hours to diagnose a bad ABS module and bad Airbag module (Airbag module was my fault). They quoted me $498 for ABS and $710 for the Airbag module. I saved $900 by ordering an ABS module online and having my Airbag module reset by and then taking them to Morrison to program the modules back to the Body Control Module on my truck by their Tech 2 computer. Had a slight hiccup while programming the Airbag module which Morrison was able to troubleshoot and find a male and female wiring connection not connected at the firewall/bulkhead which was causing the module to not program. I believe this was done by the Chevy dealer when I originally took it to them to troubleshoot my electrical problems (I don't believe it was done purposely). Morrison said everything was good to go and I then drove the vehicle home and a mile from my house the ABS and Emergency brake light came on again with the monitor trailer braking service message error on the DIC as well. Talked to Kenny Morrison and brought it back in they scanned and found a the front right and left wheel speed sensor errors. Kenny Morrison did some research and found that the 2007 Chevys' made an Old and New body style during the same year. Depending on the body style the newer ones take the Hall Effect type wheel sensor and the older body style takes the older AC version wheel speed sensor. So I then went to O'reilly's and found that they did indeed give me the wrong Hub assemblies with the old style wheel speed sensors in them. Once O'reilly's swapped that Hub assemblies and ate the price difference in the newer ones ($140 more per hub) all the truck problems are fixed!! I would have never found the wheel speed sensor problem had it not been for Morrison taking the extra time to research my Model history of the truck. I have no problem taking my vehicles back to him should I not be able to fix the problem myself.

  • Shop was very busy, but all employees were professional and assisted customers with good humor and courtesy. Price quoted was what was charged. Never fun to pay for car repair, but Gerald's staff works hard to earn repeat business. Recommended.

  • I could not have been more impressed with this business!!  Every staff member I came into contact with was highly friendly and professional.  This place is BUSY, but it is because they are so good at what they do.  (It was also refreshing to see scripture on their digital business sign!)
The mechanic personally came to the waiting area and took me to the bay where my van was being serviced.  He showed me where my rack and pinion on my vehicle was leaking in two different places.  He did not pressure me to have the service done, but explained the pricing and time frame to me for having it repaired.   (I was not able to wait today to have the repair done, that is why I only had my oil changed.)
From start to finish this was a GREAT experience.  When I left, I even found a rose from the staff on my dash board as a thank you for choosing their business!  Wow!!
I will definitely be using this business again.

  • On a previous visit for new tires they failed to put the wheel lock socket back in the vehicle. We realized it this morning (3 months later) and by now they had lost it. They had to order new lug nuts twice due to ordering the wrong ones and locked our keys in the car. They had to call someone to come unlock the car. Three and a half hours later we have the car back finally. They gave us a free oil change and didn't charge us for any of this to try to compensate for their mistakes, but I don't really feel like a $25 oil change really made up for the hours of unnecessary waiting, but I do appreciate their effort. Probably will choose some where else next time we need service.

  • I was thinking I needed brakes everywhere because they were squeaking, but they checked and said I only needed front brakes with was about $200. I knew I needed tires and decided since I didn't need the rotors, etc the higher cost brake job, I could afford to purchase the tires I needed.
This is what I love about Gerald's Tires. They don't sell you something you don't need.
The labor was only about $125 and the rest was tires and brakes and oil. I feel like I got my moneys worth.

  • Only place that would mount tires on rims I just purchased. Tried Walmart, Ford dealership without success. Got in immediately and was quick. Great experience for me especially since I had my twin two year olds with me at the time

  • Excellent service from a professional and motivated staff! Very competitive pricing with free rotations and free tire fixes. I took my brand new Honda back to the dealer with a nail in the tire and was charged $23.00 to repair! I do not know how the management and work force maintains such an upbeat work environment but they need to share their secret (SC DMV can certainly use the advice). Great staff, great experience, they know how to create customer loyalty!

  • We have used Gerald's for years and have always been very satisfied. Wait times can be a little long if you don't make an appointment. They are very customer-oriented, friendly and professional. They don't try to sell you something you don't need and will check your brakes, tires, etc if you have a concern (all at no cost). I have pulled in because my tire pressure light has come on, the technician came out immediately, he checked and adjusted the pressure, explained that since the weather had become so cold the air expanded and my pressure light was telling me the pressure was too high for the weather. No charge!
