    Grass Barber Lawn Management
Initially pretty good. As time passed the quality of work plunged to terrible. I , or my wife would have to call, text, etc, and practically beg the owner to mow our grass. Excuses ranged from "I forgot", to "I had a car accident", to "I had to attend a funeral", to the most predominant, "I can't find help". The man has ZERO contingency plans for staffing "no shows" and "turnovers". THE MAJOR PROBLEM WAS AND IS THAT LAST SUMMER/FALL, THE OWNER, OR SOMEONE OFF THE STREET HE HAD JUST HIRED (which was typical), WOULD SPRAY WEED KILLER to kill the weeds/grass in the mulch, around trees and bushes, and other key areas. The owner spoke reasonable English and every person employed by him spoke NO English. Employees had NO IDEA WHAT they were spraying nor could they read the labels. I asked often and recorded the responses on my cell phone. The owner told me that he had several types of weed killers. One would kill weeds for eight months or more. This created a HUGE problem for our family. As spring rolled around this time I looked for blooms and signs of growth on a total of 38 EXPENSIVE ornamental trees, bushes, and vines. There was none. I've contacted the owner several times requesting compensation for 38 trees and bushes (many were very expensive, some triple braided and many were four or five to each planting). Other plants consisted of Flowering Cherries, Exotic Weeping Pines, Ornamental Boxwoods, Mandevilla Vines, etc.). He continually attempted to placate my wife and me. I've explained that I have a detailed report from a certified professional arborist. He asserts that he couldn't have possibly harmed our trees. I also have a small container of the chemical that they used on our yard given to me by one of his staff. That's a horse of an astoundingly different color! A chemist friend has an analysis of that concoction. I have PROOF he killed the trees. The cost of loss of trees and shrubs alone comes to a conservative amount of $1,486.00. This does not include labor and other necessary materials. The comprehensive total for our loss is $3,256.00. The most amazing thing about his operation is his way of CREATING NEW MULCH BEDS. He simply places pavers around the perimeter with existing grass intact. He then heavily sprays the grass without adding ANY ground felt at all! Then he places the mulch on top of the live grass and sprays as necessary! I've been told by several other yard maintenance firms that this is laughable. My advise as a business professional who has some background in lawn care, is to STAY AS FAR AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY AS HUMANLY POSSIBLE. BEWARE, HE OPERATES UNDER SEVERAL NAMES. THE GRASS BARBER IS THE MOST USED. The reason for all the overkill in his ad is obvious; He has very limited knowledge in Lawn Care other than being able to crank a mower! We are currently discussing litigation with our attorney group. We will recover our money! We are far from prejudiced, but we will NEVER use any company not well versed in English! From all this, we are hoping that nobody else has to take the financial hits we did. We believe Angie's List should scrutinize businesses to a much greater degree than has been done in this case! DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES EVER USE THIS COMPANY OR ANY OFFSHOOT THEREOF......WHICH COULD BE MANY DIFFERENT SPANISH SOUNDING NAMES. THIS INFORMATION IS IN NO WAY RETALIATORY. WE ARE WELL KNOWN IN THE COMMUNITY AND WE MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO HELP ANYONE IN BUSINESS. WE ALSO ATTEMPT TO HELP THOSE LIKE OURSELVES SIMPLY LOOKING FOR QUALITY VALUE ORIENTED COMPANIES WITH HIGH ETHICS AND STANDARDS OF EXCELLENCE. THANK YOU FOR READING OUR POST AND WE WILL BE HAPPY TO COMMUNICATE WITH OTHERS WHO HAVE BEEN "BURNED'' BY THIS COMPANY. (828) 429-6641.

He has a great personality. He is very diligent in his work. He has another employee that works with him, and does a great job. It is picture perfect. He is a great Christian man, and is very dependable. His pricing is very reasonable.

They were dogwood trees which had died. He did a good job. Overall I thought they did a very good job. So I just give them a 10. It was the best. They cleared up everything. They did very good work. I don't know how much things cost these days. I'm 92 years old and I just presume that that was the running cost. I really can't answer that on price. I don't know the price of things. I was gonna get my shrubbery cleaned up too and he said he wasn't good at that and he would have to charge me a lot for it, so I didn't let him do that. I have a neighbor whose son is in the landscaping business and he sent him over and he did it for very reasonable price, so I'll probably go along with him if I'm still here in my home. Yes, not applicable would be fine because I really don't know the price of things. On quality, he did a good job. He smoothed out the stump and the ground is level. Of course they weren't very big dogwood trees, but he made it level down on the ground and I was pleased with that because you can get a lawn mower around it good. I believe he's honest. He had a lot of workers with him so I'm sure he had to pay all these workers. They were very responsive. They came out and looked it over within a day and then a couple of days they were out here. On punctuality they were here when they said they would be. He told me he would be out to give me an estimate after he finished a job and that was around I guess 5 o'clock, and he was here. I think I would look to use them in the future. I might shop around for the price if I thought somebody could do it. But then he has the right equipment to do a good job.

    TSA, Inc.
However, starting in March, 2016, I noticed broken siding around the base of my home and when the owner came out, he stated that it looked like the crew used the lawnmower to mow too close to the house resulting in 4-5 places where the siding was broken. For months I have been trying to work with TSA to get it fixed to no avail. No returned phone calls and no interest in working with me to repair the siding. I can not recommend them going forward.

Ken and his team came out just two days after I called him.  He is very busy this time of year, but was able to fit us in!  He did exactly what my husband asked of him.
His price was more than fair and he and his workers worked fast and completely!  They dethatched our front and side yards with his large mower blade at a low height and then sucked up all the thatch and then dumped the debris.  They then blew our driveway and walkway and porch.

    Sanchez Lawn Maintenance
We used them off and on for a couple of years. When they showed, work was ok. Lawn tended to be cut really short, but not a huge deal. But they consistently had issues with showing up when promised. We finally cut ties in October 2015 after repeated no shows and lack of response to our calls and texts on multiple occasions across two weeks. Would never recommend due to the constant aggravation of getting them to commit to a date they will show up.

    Scott Turf and Landscape
We used Scott Turf for 5 years. For most of that time, we were really pleased with their service. They maintained our lawn and managed our irrigation system. When we moved into a new house we had about 1/2 an acre that needed complete landscaping and we wanted to change out some of the builder landscaping in the front. The bid was for $15000+ and we were under the impression that it included the front and the back yard. It was our fault that we didn't read the contract close enough and went on the verbal conversation that we had with Scott. We were out of town when they installed the landscaping. When we came back we were shocked that the front remained untouched.
That was in October. Fast forward to the spring of 2015 and we asked Scott for weeks to get our sprinkler system turned back on. We were losing plants right and left because they needed to be watered. I texted him 3-4 times, my husband called and emailed. Scott said he sent someone out to turn it on, but they didn't do the work. Then he had my husband out in the yard trying to figure out how to turn the system back on (my husband is not very handy so that didn't work) because Scott was in Charleston doing some hardscaping. Then he came out and turned in on about 4 weeks after we started this conversation. When my husband and I got home that night there was one head that was continuously watering a big tree. That side of our yard was a swamp because a valve got stuck open. We called Scott again and finally got the system resolved.
We asked him to check the landscaping because we had 4 dead bushes and 2 dead arborvitae. The 2 Japanese maples and 1 pink magnolia that he had planted had a lot of dead branches. And the rest of the plants were struggling in general. He told us that he would check them. When we inquired as to his thoughts he said that it was because of our harsh winter. He kept telling us that he would see about getting them replaced. The trees should have been under warranty based on what he originally told us.
We finally let Scott go. Long after we should have. We had a new landscaper come out and replace all of the dead bushes and trees to the tune of about $1500. He said that there was not very much dirt in the holes. We have red clay and you have to put quality soil in the holes where the plants are going or the roots cannot grow. The plants that this landscaper put in have thrived and the ones that Scott Turf put in all continue to struggle.
After such a long relationship with Scott, my husband and I were really disappointed that we got the dismissal from him over such an expensive job. He actually billed us for something after we fired him!!

    Jose's Lawn Service and Landscaping
My grass at my house was riddled with fungus a few years ago after bad treatment of a lawn care service. Since Jose and his crew have taken over, my lawn is now looking better than it has in years. The grass is beautiful. They never cut the grass too short, the clean up is always nicely done. There was mulch added to my home and it looked and still looks nice in all the beds. He used the finely chopped mulch and it actually stays put even during heavy rains.
The park that I manage always looks very nicely done.
I would definitely recommend this lawn service company for both residential and commercial needs.

Everything went fine. This is just my second time to use them. He has somebody that helps him out. I told him at his convenience. I was not in a hurry to get it done. I also told him that I was also just to stay for a week and he said fine.

    Stump Blaster
We contacted Tim and several other companies to come out and give us an estimate to grind some stumps.  Tim called within a few hours and came right out.  None of the other companies ever returned our calls or emails, so we were very impressed by his responsiveness. This is a great testimony to someone who understands what it takes to grow a business!  Because of that, we will only be calling him in the future!
He assessed the project and offered several suggestions about what could be done.  He got right to work and took down the stumps, dug a new trench for a downspout and cleared an area covered with brush and sticks.  He didn't even stop when he got stung by a bee!  Sorry Tim!!!  The red stump master machine is incredible to watch and is all controlled remotely.  We were impressed by the safety measures Tim took to complete the job and the respect for our property.
