    Palms on the Parkway
Isiah was great to work with. He gave us good advice on choosing trees and a great price. We agreed that I would pick them up at opening the next morning. When I showed up with a truck and trailer, he determined that my trailer would not provide good protection for the trees. He then offered to deliver the trees to our house, gratis. He proceeded to load them up right then and delivered immediately. At our house, he unloaded them and moved them to the back yard. All of the delivery and movement was not in the plan and he did it just to help us out. He gave good advice on how to plant and how to maintain. Four months later, the trees are green and growing out as expected. Delivery and planting is part of his normal business, but I wanted to plant them myself to better manage the time of actual planting as I was doing lots of other heavy landscape work in that area. We could not have asked for better service. Thanks Isiah.

    ACTION TREE SVC
Good job initially, but part of the job company was supposed to come back and trim crepe myrtle trees. They did not come, and ignored my calls. I will not use them again and will not recommend them to others.

    Porch Outfitters Inc
Very well. Some delays. Nothing unexpected for a project of the size and scope of work. The crew who did the work were an exceptional group. They even prepared an anniversary dinner for us when they were unable to complete the project in time for a planned event. It went well enough I have hired them on two subsequent occasions.

Everybody that we have used here is very personal because they are own their own businesses. Very different from a large city. They're just great. They know what they are doing, and they do it. We had a hurricane in the middle of everything and trees were all over the place. It took longer than it was supposed to, but it wasn't their fault.

It's very personal because they own their own company. I think that's the biggest thing about living here, it just makes it a lot better because you are face to face with the person that needs that money to live on. So they do the best that they possibly can. And they understand your needs better. My husband was the one who dealt with them, but he was very happy. He was here for 4 hours in one day. I have nothing to compare the price to.

    Southern Grounds Care
Contacted Mr. St Johns on Tues eve, with an urgent request for lawn care, and left vm, explained my problem and asked him to return my call the next day, during business hours. Mid morning Weds I called him back and he stated that he could take care of the yard for me, and quoted me a price, which was more than fair. As there was a large amount of work to be done, I negotiated an hourly wage instead of the flat fee that he suggested. (flat fee was for $35.00, I offered to pay $28.00 per hour for 2 workers, at approximately 4 hours for work to be completed). He stated that he would have crew out on either Thurs or Fri. Fri mid-day, I called him again, after no crew or phone call. He stated that their job had run over-time, but that he would have them come out Sat. Called him back late Sat after no-show, he stated worker sick, would be out after church Sunday. Late Sunday afternoon, I called again, had to leave vm to pls return my call. Called again early evening, left another vm. Still no return call to date, and today was my deadline to have work done.

    Sweetgrass Landscaping
I told her I would pay the bill in installments due to the amount of it and she subsequently sent me invoices that did not reflect payments madeI started using Sweetgrass Landscaping in June of 2012, I fired them in January of 2013, during that time I paid them about $8000 for an initial clean up and regular maintenance of about two clear acres of lawn.
It was fine at first. Lucy initially came to the house and explained to me that they visit every customer monthly to check on work being done and address concerns, etc. I never saw her again until I called four months and said that I didn't want to continue to have leaves blown around in my woods and that it was counter productive to blow leaves to the edge of the marsh when they would blow back again within seconds of the first breeze. She came to the house and discussed this with me but then the workers began blowing more leaves in the woods. The whole point was that I didn't want to pay for leaves to be blown around in the woods! It seemed as if they wanted to make sure they worked as many hours as they could and more in the winter when there was less that needed to be done. The employees themselves were very hard working and responsive, but when they arrived they sat in their trucks for up to twenty minutes and then I was billed for that time. I kept a record of the times they arrived and left and actually worked, when those times didn't agree with the times stated on the bill, Lucy got huffy and said no one had questioned her workers before. The workers also would take yard trash to the dump, leave one truck here while they hauled it in another and I paid $45 each time for them to take the trash and come back here to retrieve their other truck when perhaps it could have been taken on their way somewhere else with good planning. Since I live on many wooded acres, it was not necessary to have much hauled to the dump and at the end they were collecting leaves in the woods in trash bags and charging me to take those to the dump while several big branches that had come down in a storm sat on the lawn without being touched.
No weed control was ever used and now my grass is a mess, the crepe myrtle trees were not pruned when they should have been, nor were the oleanders and they are wild and unsightly. When I told Lucy that I wasn't going to use their services any more she sent me a final bill for $985 for December through mid-January. The word that comes to mind here is and quot;churning!and quot; When I asked her to review that final bill in regard to the times she stated on her bill vs. the times I had recorded in my journal, she refused to do so. When I made payments, they were not reflected in the continued billing and when I informed her that I was not going to make the final payment unless the other payment was credited she told me I was being rude!

Southern Tree Svs. of Beaufort, INC.
Tree unexpectly fell - a large oak tree. Damaged only a small section of fence. We called another service recomended by our contractor, and he poorly responded. We looked on Angies, called Southern, and they couldn't have been any friendlier, prompter, or more professional.I gave them a fair on price, as I have used only one other tree service, but in our winter home, and the price seems comperable, but never as little as I hope for - but as the saying goes - price - quality - service ---- but two go together and never all three.

We live on an island and it's one of the two or three companies that pretty much people use on the island. This will be the third time we will be using them. The estimate was for about $1500. They have always done excellent work for us.
