    The downstairs gas pack and the upstairs heat pump were both installed in the last few years.  Both units work great and were very efficient.  We had consistently lower utility bills than some of our neighbors in both winter and summer.  Warranty work was handled at no charge.  The only warranty claim was a problem with squirrels not the equipment.

    Everything about this experience was great.  The appointment scheduling was easy and they were very courteous.  The technician was punctual, professional, knowledgeable and fixed my HVAC right away.  The problem was small, and they didn't overcharge me - the price was very reasonable and the service was fast and fixed the issue.  I would absolutely recommend them and will use them again if I have future service needs.

Trent will not try to sell you something you do not need, but will be honest with you about the options and costs.

    Split system at cottage has had freon leak since installation.  They could not find leak and claim this is NORMAL.  At each maintenance visit they have added freon.   This leak has cused the system to run too much and drive up the utility bill.
    I had a new company come out in Dec 2012 and they discoved location of leak immediately.  Leak is in coil which can not be repaired.  Coil must be replaced.  They also noticed fungal growth on coil and undersized returns.
    Heat pump at lake house was also under service agreement.  At service appointment in Spring 2012 they did not inform us of day and time of appontment and instead did the service while no one was home by "jumping" the system from outside at the unit and by-passing the thermostat.  They checked the system in the air and heat mode, but left the system on in the constant heat mode.  The system remained in this mode for an extended period of time and much damage was done to the house and the furnishings due to the extreme heat.  A claim had to be filed with their liability insurance company to partially cover the damage expense.
    When the new company went out to do their inspectionson the heat pump at lake house, they discovered that the wires to the heat strips had been cut, the return was undersized, in the wrong location, and contained mold and water.  A new return will need to be run along with supply lines that are the proper size.
    Repairs for both locations will be about $2500 - $3000.
    Stay away from this company!

    NOTE!  As of 5/11/13, the company and I have come to an amicable agreement with regard to the above incident.

    Spring Valley Heating And Air
    I have an annual "Residential Maintenance Agreement" with Spring Valley.  The agreement costs what seems to me a lot, but they check the systems (two)  twice a year and they say they will come quickly if I need service.  Our air conditioner stopped working, and I called on a Saturday evening at the hottest time of the year in South Carolina, July 14, and they had somebody on duty who answered the phone and then came out early Sunday morning and put in the freon and got us working again.  The visit was not cheap, but hey, they came within 24 hours, on a weekend, in peak season.
    I have had a residential maintenance agreement with a different company in the past, which did not work out so satisfactorily.  I expect to stay with Spring Valley.

    ARS responded to a call issued by the homeowner policy on the house I am renting. The tech who came out (Chris, Tech #2620) was very professional, and courteous. He introduced himself, explained to me what he was going to do once I explained my problem to him, and went straight to work. He fixed the problem with the AC unit, diagnosed another problem found in the system, and explained to me the options available to solve it in a way I could explain it best to the rental mgmt company. He was knowledgeable, courteous, and efficient - what more could you want from any contractor you have work on your house? We were fortunate that ARS selected our job from the home warranty company - they will definitely receive my business in the future based on this experience! **I did rate them B in the punctuality category, only because my original appt was between 12-2, and they had to reached to between 4-6. This does not, however, reflect the work quality. It is July and demand is high for AC repair!

    After servicing our two systems, they suggested that our systems had not been installed with sufficient return or enough tonage.  Charles, one of the owners came out and did an assessment and made some recommendations that fit our budget.  We went with the highest efficiency unit available and replaced all of our ducting on both systems adding more return and measuring the output on each vent.  They added two solar vent fans to my attic as well as a zippered cover for the pull down stairs access.  

    We couldn't be more satisfied.  They have followed up and provided filters and serviced our systems and answered our every question.  Both Mike and Charles, the owners have been at my home and ensured our complete satisfaction.We highly recommend Blythewood Heating AC and Refrigeration for your residential and commercial needs.

    You might pay more, but you will have the best available product and service and your satisfaction will not be matched any where else.
