I had just moved a few weeks ago into my new house. It was during the holidays, with family coming to my house, and I woke up to no running water from my well. Mr. Stewart came right over and figured out the problem. He changed out and upgraded the breaker box. He saved the day and the holidays.

The men who started the drywall/ painting work did not finish it but were replaced by another man who did not patch or sand the drywall as well as could have been done & the biggest problem involved the installation of the closet doors. Their man installed one of the louvered doors backwards (didn't know the difference) so others had to come in & correct his mistakes. Also, the halogen light bulbs in vanity light fixtures were not installed using gloves as directions specified, but they did replace when pointed out. We did have to keep on them to do in timely manner. Overall, the project turned out like we wanted, but getting there was problematic with workmen assigned.

    Carolina Heating Service Inc
We contacted Carolina Heating and Service after reading the reviews on Angie's List.  They came out and assessed our antique heating/ AC system and gave us a price that included an year in their maintenance program, a programmable thermostat and vapor barrier installation in the crawl space.   They came out a week or so later and installed the system and vapor barrier.  The thermostat wasn't working so they came out a week after that to do a check up and install a new thermostat.  We upgraded the programmable thermostat for a few dollars more and now have a wonderful thermostat that does everything but sing and dance.  The HVAC system is very quiet and efficient.  Since this house is new to us, we don't know what the differences in the utility bills are, but it's got to be better than the 1993 system we had.   We are looking forward to being warm and toasty during our first upstate winter.

The service was a slow process.  Buzz was a good person to work with, but if he only put in an average of 4 hours of work on any given day.  I wish that he was more motivated to finish the job quicker.  After all, time is money.  After the job was done, I have been going behind and finishing what was missed.  Repairing sheetrock damage and installing nail plates that were missing in two room.  The county inspector should have caught that.  I guess that what I get when you have  to depend on a county employee to do his job properly on a Friday afternoon.

    Oh well.

It worked out fine. They suggested replacing my fuse box with another one that is larger. Mine is about 10 years old and it is in good shape to handle the power of everything. They wanted to split things out and I thought I would get a second opinion before I go and spend $4000 plus to do that. The person was good and probably very legit. I am guessing they don't tell that to everybody they come out for a house inspection. He was a real pro. I didn't feel like I was being swing over or anything. He was real professional and he wasn't pushy on it.

    Jason Hagman
Absolute horrible experience. He does not have a business but was recommended to me by a reputable source. He showed up 2 hours late for the estimate. It was to install a brand new washer/dryer hookup in a house that did not have one before. He gave an estimate of 1595.00 with a disclaimer of possible extra supplies. He said he would need half of the money up front to buy supplies. This seemed unusual but based on the recommendation I gave him money anyway. On his first day of work he showed up several hours late and had told me that he could get a majority of the work done on that day, but he only stayed about an hour and knocked holes in the wall. He then told me when he left that he would for sure be finished with the work the next day. On the next day he showed up late again because we needed to have a fuse box replaced with a breaker box that he said he had trouble finding and paid extra for it because it was an unusual size ($120), and I have since been to Lowe's and saw the exact same box fully stocked on the shelves for $28.99. He also said he would have to put the drain for the washer into the floor because my walls were too narrow to put it in the wall. So he "drilled" even though it looks like he used a hammer and chisel to put the drain hole in my hardwood floors from the 1940s. He ran into many "problems" and ended up being around the house for several days. Every day he said he would be back the next day to finish. Eventually he stopped showing up and would not call or text to let me know until mid to late afternoon with more excuses why he could not make it. His iPhone didn't notify him of the time change and his alarm reset. I have an iPhone and mine updated with the time change and besides, it was spring if he showed up at the wrong time it would have been an hour early. Then he dropped and cracked his iPhone screen so he couldn't get in touch with me. Just endless obviously false and shoddy excuses. After 2 weeks of not showing up, I finally just hired someone else to finish the job (another $453) who reworked ALL of Jason's work from scratch because it was very unprofessional. The new worker told me that there was absolutely no way that Jason spent more than 400 dollars on parts when Jason said he spent $800. I totally believe he gouged on parts after the breaker box discrepancy. The hole in my hardwood floors was completely unnecessary as the new contractor MAGICALLY found a way to do things properly and it looks thousands of times more professional. Jason has been paid in full along with $260 cash for a SER wire that he "needed" to replace but never did. I asked him for receipts for parts multiple times and again he always had an excuse why he couldn't provide it. Never saw the receipt for the wire and he has it and has never showed up at my house again so that's just money gone. I am in the process of suing him civilly for the money. I was told I cannot file a breach of trust suit because the holes in my walls and floor can be construed as work done and is debatable so it cannot be filed as such and I have to spend a couple hundred more to take him to civil court even though I'm sure he has spent ALL of the money that he has stolen from me. He was paid in full because he presented the work as finished minus some cleanup. So I tried to avoid his work area. When he did not show up the next morning I went under the house to check the work and it was nowhere even near 50% finished and looked like a third grader had tried to do the work. I never saw him again. He has texted since to give the Impression he has intentions of finishing but I know better now.

Dipple Plumbing, Electrical, Heating & Air
Ian showed up on time and replaced the ballast in one of our fluorescent ceiling fixtures that had recently gone bad. Unfortunately he dropped the plastic lens covering on the fixture and it broke. He was very apologetic and knocked $100 off of the bill. This was fine with me as I am sure the replacement cost will be much less than $100. He also took a look at our electric service panels as I was interested in checking the status of the surge protectors we have in place from when the house was built in 2003. Unfortunately he could find no evidence of any surge protectors (something I will now have to contact the builder about). He discussed some options with me and agreed to email me some prices if I decide to go ahead and install new ones. Overall I was very impressed with his explanations and professionalism. I would not hesitate to use Dipple for any electrical problems in the future.
