    Carolina Tire & Auto Service
Fair treatment for women. They don't treat you like you're stupid, they don't talk down to you. I've been going to them for years and they have always been respectful. When you are a woman and you walk into a car place and you try to explain what's wrong they look at you like you dropped from another planet because you don't know their terminology and they've never been that way. They've never taken advantage of me in the sense of, and I've been to places where the guy brought out an air filter to prove to me that I needed a new air filter. I knew that my air filter was round and this guy brought out a square air filter.  They've never been that way. I've had major stuff there. I've taken my car in there and go look, I'm going on a really long trip, check everything. If you think it needs changed, change it. Check the belts, check the hoses, check the tires, check the brakes and they've never come out and gone oh we've had to do this. Just really nice, honest, fair, reasonable, decent people.

It went very well. Upon arriving at the facilities I was impressed with the general impression, and got to talking with the owner and the history of Volvos and the Mercedes and Volvo (the only cars he works on) throughout my family. Very professional overall and a bit pricey, but it is WELL worth the extra cost. I knew exactly what I was paying within an hour of getting the car there for inspection, and had an estimate for an additional problem they found that wasn't imminent. I opted out of the extra because of the budget I had, but plan to go back in the future. I told them I had to step outside to call someone at work (5 minutes away) to come pick me up. He asked me how old I was and I told him. He then said if I could give you a loaner would that help? I mean I was so super impressed at this point!!! REALLY!?!? What mechanic still gives its clients a loaner with liability issues all over the place today? This one does, and it is DEFINITELY worth the extra cost. So I got the loaner car, drove to work. I was told it would be ready by 4:30, and was EXTREMELY impressed that I got a call at roughly 3 telling me my car was ready. I went to pick it up on my lunch hour and was very impressed with the work, and they had saved me money for the short run and let me know what I need to save up for in the future. They were very polite and a very and quot;at-homeand quot; feel. You get to talk to these people as people rather than just as a mechanic. Very nice atmosphere and attitudes from all I encountered. It is a bit pricey, but if you drive a Mercedes or Volvo and have for years, you know not much goes wrong, but when it does, its costly to get it done correctly. And these people do it correctly and the extra cost is well worth the money for the amazing treatment you get there!

    TWELVE MILE GARAGE
There were two separate recent issues:
During a recent trip to the mountains, the brakes overheated while going down a steep incline. That caused one of the rotors to warp. Lamar did a good job in turning the rotor, and the van brakes very smoothly now.
A couple of weeks later, one of the rear brake lines broke (due to corrosion) and again, Lamar fixed if promptly and well.
This is our regular shop; every auto related problem we get goes to Lamar first. If he can't handle it (he's a one-mechanic shop), he will refer us to the best shop for the particular problem. He is a great guy - easygoing, and willing to go out of his way to help. His rates are surprisingly low, too. Also, if he works on a problem, but finds it beyond his capacity, he never charges a penny for the time he spent. I have tried to give him something for his time, but he is adamant about not accepting money for a repair that he didn't complete. Seriously, this guy is scrupulously honest, and a good mechanic to boot. I can't recommend him highly enough for all regular car repair issues.

    Lindsey's Ring & Pinion Service
Noise coming from the front transfer case on our AWD Astro van. Oh, Oh. Lindsey found that the previous repair (by someone else) had not been done well, and the fluid had leaked out, the chain was stretched & dragging, and the bearings were completely disintegrated.
He rebuilt the entire case with all new parts. The cost was high, but that is one of the disadvantages of owning a car with all-wheel drive. The repair has held up fine - we have had the fluid level checked by our local mechanic and it has not leaked a bit.
We had used Lindsey two other times in the past, and he has performed well for us each time. The second time, he found the problem to be less significant than we had feared, saving us several hundred bucks. Not only is he an excellent mechanic, he is very honest (a combination that is not too widespread in the repair industry, I'm afraid). He specializes in rear end and transmission work, and in that area he excels!

    DURHAM'S AUTOMOTIVE
Very poor gas mileage, plus electrical interference with our added electronic devices. Ronnie found that the spark plugs were trashed and one of the new ignition wires was also bad. He replaced the wires at no charge (even though he hadn't installed them originally), since the set was under warranty. He replaced the plugs and rewired the power to the external electronic devices. We've had no trouble since then.
Ronnie is not my first go-to guy, as I think that he is quite expensive, but he is one of the best mechanics I have ever known. If I have a problem that can't be fixed by my local mechanic, Ronnie is the person I trust to get it right every time. He is very detailed in his analysis of the issues; I appreciate that, since I also have been in the service business, albeit in electronics. He doesn't guess, or just throw (rather expensive) parts at the problem. He knows what he is doing, and if I could afford his rates - and if he was located closer to my house - he would be my primary auto repair source.
I also should add that he has done great diagnostic work on one of my classic cars as well: my 1988 Pontiac Fiero Formula. He can spot potential issues before they become serious problems.

They are very good.  They are always super nice and on time; I take my car in and if they tell me 45 minutes then it will be ready in 45 minutes.  My husband pays for all repair work on my car so I don’t have to worry about it.

Carey Moving & Storage Inc- Allied Van Lines
They did a fantastic job. They were well educated and one of them in the company helped us to bring all our stuff in. If they come across anything broken they would call us and show us before unloading. My experience with Carey has been great. They had two trucks one to unloading and bring it down and the other would stay up there. My husband would stand there to help them and make sure the boxes came up. We did everything we could to cooperate. They were very responsible people. They would be here at the time they said they would come. We had no trouble what so ever with any of them. The men were polite and work constantly none would sit and laze around. They had some good packers. I would recommend them. We checked with them when we were moving. They were not moving furniture at that time, they are doing now.

    TRAVELIER TRUCK COVERS

Purchased and paid for cover early in May. Was told that the cover would be ready and painted in approximately  2weeks.  I called after three and asked about the cover as I had not heard from them. I was told the cover was in the paint shop and would be ready on Tuesday as it was a 3 part painting process.  I called on the next Tuesday and was told because of the Memorial Day Holiday that it was delayed.  I called again the next week and was told that the cover would be ready on the next Thursday. Went by the shop on Thursday only to find the cover had   been painted to wrong color.  It was returned to the paint shop and repainted. What was to be a two week waiting process turned out to be a couple of days short of 5 weeks. I was never called to let me know of delays and had to call the store repeatedly to find out the progress of the order.  The cover itself is fine and the 3 part process only took an additional day after being returned for the correct paint color.  Noone seemed inerested in keeping me informed what was going on with the order. I wonder if  I would have been informed of anything if I had not called.   I have never been treated this poorly by any business in my life (and trust me, I've had my fair share of con jobs over time).    The salesman, "JT,"  is a con artist extrodinaire.  PT Barnum himself -  wherever he may be - must be rolling over in his grave at the LACK OF INTEGRITY of this charltan.  I wouldn't recommend this sorry outfit to even my worst enemy....  Be forewarned.

I had an incident were I could not get my car to start everytime. I drive 18 miles to work at the hospital often at night so I was really worried that I would not be safe. When I stopped by to ask them to check my car, the repairman told me to move my floor mat.I asked them to keep my car and check it out completely. When I called the next morning to ask about my car, I was told that indeed it was my floor mat covering a sensor. When I picked up my car , they had replaced a clip at no charge to me. They always do my routine maintance and I would go no where else.
