Great experience! My kitchen was designed to be more functional and new cabinetry was installed. Susan Spinola gave me very good design advice while staying within my budget. I now have the look I wanted at a price I could afford.

    Dietra Nickerson
This is the third house for which Ive hired Dietra Nickerson to help me with various phases of remodeling. She is my go to professional for all phases of remodeling. Since she works alone, her schedule doesnt allow her to accept every job, but I would wait for her over using any other contractor, especially for her precision painting, attention to detail and eye for good design. For this job, prior to moving in, the house needed racks of wire shelving removed from closets, laundry room and garage, affected walls extensively patched, interior painting throughout, a powder room remodel which included building a partition wall and adding drywall, wainscoting, tile, finish carpentry, sink, toilet and lighting - a work of art! - removing and retiling a kitchen backsplash, adding under cabinet lighting, adding crown moldings, even adding a new dryer vent. In short, she does it all and does it well. Dietra is conscientious and meticulous. She works alone and with dedication to the job at hand, so dont expect the kind of contractor who drops off a crew of helpers and disappears, or looks to do a speedy, shoddy job and move on. Hers is quality workmanship and shes rightfully proud of what she accomplishes. The work on this job has taken about six weeks in total and Im extremely pleased with the results. I recommend her highly and in fact prefer her workmanship over any other contractor Ive used.

    Jeff Ballard Contracting
Excellent work, Can't express enough what a great experience it was working with Jeff and his crew. Throughout the process we were out of town and this was no problem. Jeff is extremely thorough and keeps you up to date with emails and pics. Our neighbors also complemented his crew on their professionalism. Jeff's recommendations were spot on as well. He hooked us up with some great suppliers and they worked seemlessy together making our lives much easier. We have a kitchen remodel coming up and we only have to make one phone call when we're ready. Jeff is the only contractor we wish to work with. We only hope he's available. If not, we'll wait.

    Jeff Ballard Contracting
Excellent. Jeff is very good at communicating and staying in touch. He did great work, and was easy to work with. Good give and take on items where we wanted something a bit different. We had previously worked with many contractors 6 years ago on a full home remodel. I never said to any of those contractors what I said to Jeff at the end of the job: " It was a pleasure working with you".

We went in on the 1st and had an emergency situation with a garage d Lowes had contracted out the service. With the holiday approaching, the assistant manager told me that he realized my urgency and he would personally follow up with me as soon as could reach the company. He had a sincere attitude and made it sound like as soon as he could get them on the phone he would let me know.. I never heard anything back from them. When I called them the store manager was nice and cordial , but it didn't seem like a concern of hers. This bothered me cause I am contemplating a kitchen and a bathroom project, and this definitely affects that decision.

    Jeff Ballard Contracting
Jeff is the consummate professional.  Arrives early, on time, and keeps moving with minimal conversation (though always polite), and does excellent work.  He was responsive to all requests, finding time to return for small details that needed taking care of.  He cleans up after himself and never leaves a mess.  We now have a higher countertop in the bathroom that is much more accessible.

    Precision Granite & Marble

Stellar experience from beginning to end.  Leslie, who manages the office and helped us pick out the granite, is extremely customer oriented.  She doesn't push you toward buying any particular product, but makes sure you thoroughly understand each product and color so you can make a wise decision.  I had gone to another granite store where I had been handed some samples and was sent on my way.  Leslie goes far above and beyond that to enable you to fully understand the process.  I tend to be rather anal, and she was extremely patient with all my questions.

Jaco, who supervises the installation, came out and measured for the countertop.  He suggested, at the time, that many people like to put a cap of the same granite on the knee wall in the bathroom.  He said that if we weren't sure we wanted to do that he would cut the cap, round the edges, polish it, and bring it back to set on the knee wall to see if we liked it.  We liked it and, unbelievably, there was no charge.  While he was at our house we told Jaco about the problem with our Silestone breakfast bar and the large braces under it that caused us to bang our knees on them, since they weren't appropriately spaced for our bar stools.  He suggested his installers could lift up the Silestone countertop, remove the braces, and install two metal bars that would support the countertop, yet be almost invisible.  That was done on the day they installed the bathroom countertop and it looks great.  Then, while there, Joco also noticed the uneven edge at the seam of the kitchen countertop, where one piece was joined to another.  His installers proceeded to shim the dropped side of the countertop and apply epoxy and appropriate color to make the repair.

BTW, the two installers, Guillermo and Abi, were extremely careful and polite.  You don't always know if installers will be equal to the excellent experience you had with the sales office and installation management.  They were.

My wife was super pleased with everything.  We paid $1300 for the granite countertop in the bathroom and another $200 for the repairs to the Silestone in the kitchen.  The other granite company I had spoken with was almost 64% higher in cost...without nearly the same level of customer service.

It's not the norm, but we were also very fortunate to engage Precision Granite and Marble at a time when they were able to do our work within five days of measuring.  That really doesn't happen very often in this industry, but it was simply the icing on the cake to an already great experience.

    Jeff Ballard Contracting

This project ended a week and a half before the deadline and on budget.  Jeff and his two employees, were always neat and clean in my home.  My retirement community neighbors praised Jeff Ballard Contracting (JBC) for their work schedule and hard work.  This might not seem important but when you only have one chance to make a first impression, in a new neighborhood, before moving into the house, this was a very big deal to me.  Jeff spent 2 hours with me in the house during our first visit to prepare his quote.  When requested Jeff furnished references for me to contact about his prior work.  Great care was taken to cover cabinets, bathtubs and countertops during painting.   JBC removed all the doors in the home and removed hardware before painting them.  All demo materials and boxes from new fixtures were taken to the local solid waste facilities on a timely basis.  JBC even covered the garage floor to ensure this area of home would be the same as the day they started.  JBC met all deliveries for me.  It was very important to me to update the venting fans, lighting and smoke detectors in the house.  Jeff took a lot of time with me discussing the options and saved me time and money by adapting the old with the new ventilation fixtures into what became a beautiful result.  The work completed on constructing the closet appears as if this was always part of the home.  The French doors are level and open into the room as I requested.  Without doing a total bathroom remodel, the master shower fits perfectly into the original bathroom layout.  JBC worked very well with another tile contractor I hired to put down two floors in this house by coordinating materials and schedules.  Jeff Ballard Contracting was found by me using Angie's List.  I appreciate the honesty, work ethic and truthfulness of Jeff and his business web site.

I'm writing this review some three months after the project was completed.  Why?  It has been my experience that the end of a project is a rather giddy time and that a good evaluation requires a bit of experience with the result.  That and I'm awfully lazy...
The project began with an Angie's List deal wherein Brendan came to the home and did a survey,  He was very professional and friendly.  Over the next few weeks we went through several iterations of the design.  The work was rather comprehensive including the kitchen perimeter, a kitchen island (with two interior angles), and matching cabinetry in the den.  It is important to work as a team as coming to a final plan is a bit like putting a jigsaw puzzle together and selecting the proper pieces requires a lot of work and thought.
The cabinetry arrived a few weeks after we signed the contract and was assembled by an independent contractor.  At first I was surprised that the cabinets required assembly.  I naively thought that they would arrive assembled, but the simple reality is that, had they been assembled, the shipping volume would have been unduly large.
The project took a bit over a month to complete.  Near the end we discovered that one of the cabinet doors was warped.  Brendan jumped on the problem and within a few days a new door was delivered.
The quality of the cabinets was excellent despite the fact that they were made in China.  To be honest, we probably couldn't have afforded them otherwise.
We are very pleased with the result and would work with Charleston Cabinetry again if the need arose.
